Fallout Lore | Commonwealth's or States?

Fallout Lore | Commonwealth's or States?

    Commonwealth's or States?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2021 02:13 PM PDT

I'm relatively new to the Fallout universe, and I don't play the video game, but I love the universe. Now, I thought I would ask my son this question, because he plays the video game and is up on a lot of Fallout lore, but even he told me he didn't know so he told me to address the Council on this question. So, here's the question:

The Expeditions DLC that's coming up, focuses on The Pitt. At the end of the video it shows the sign for old Pittsburgh. On the sign it reads 'State of Independence'. I'm confused. I thought in the Fallout universe they didn't have States, they had Commonwealths. 13 Commonwealths. And Pennsylvania I thought was in the Eastern Commonwealth. Is this just a mistake on behalf of Bethesda? Do they still have States under a Commonwealth? Can someone please set me straight on this issue? It's minor, I know, but it's bugging me.

Appalachia Enclave still around after Fo3/During Fo4?

    Posted: 13 Jun 2021 11:42 AM PDT

So at this point we know that Fo1 and Fo2 set the stage for FoNV (which was supposed to be Fallout Van Buren) and had nothing to do with Fo76. We also know that Fo3 and Fo4 basically continue the "West Coast trilogy", specifically after the Enclave was scattered and forced to the East Coast after Fo2. But since the Whitespring Enclave was unheard of until Fo76, does that mean they were still around after the Enclave was defeated in Fo3? Obviously I know the Enclave is bigger than the NCR and BoS due to them being everywhere. But even without that knowledge, what if the Whitespring Enclave had no idea the BoS existed or that Raven Rock or the Poseidon Oil Rig fell. If they were completely out of the loop, then technically that means they are still capable of existing by 2277-2287.

Why didn’t the NCR annex the Mojave earlier

When looking at a map of the west coast, the Mojave and Las Vegas is a lot closer to where Shady Sands is than places like New Reno, Vault City or any of those territories in the North. Why is it that the NCR expanded north before East, is there any lore reasons?

I have some questions about father - questions are inside to avoid possible spoilers

    1. Who actually dug Father's grave?
    2. Who was present at Father's funeral? Was the sole survivor?
