    FINALLY GOT MY PIE

    Posted: 17 May 2021 07:33 PM PDT

I've been spamming the stupid port-a-diner for like 30 minutes now and finally got the pie, just to see that I have to steal it. Sounds about right

It is totally fine to shoot your way through problems. That can be part of the RPG experience too.

There is no right way to play a game. Have fun.

For new players that are struggling with New Vegas, you gotta play it like an RPG, not a shooter.

    Posted: 17 May 2021 09:30 AM PDT

So, for a long long time I always struggled to get into New Vegas. I always thought it was slow paced, very few combat scenarios (compared to 3 please don't attack me), and just very dull at times. I was wanting to kill something every five seconds and didn't necessarily realize that the Mojave is literally a desert.

It wasn't until last night, where I decided to restart and make a new character as myself where I truly saw why people fell love in with the game. It's true freedom to it's finest. I started my character with very low strength and endurance but high agility and luck. Starting skills were speech, survival, and sneak to fully emulate that I'm not a very combat experienced person. And the first thing I did was, literally ran straight to Benny. I wanted this motherfucker. So I did what I could to get there as fast as I could.

So, I got there confronted him, told him I would tell everyone what the fuck he was doing unless he gave me the chip. He nonchalantly told me to get real, so I couldn't do shit. As soon as I stepped outside, Vulpes ran up to me and gave the invitation and also informed me Benny took off. Next stop, the fort. Went there, met House for the first time, helped with his bots, had Benny crucified, and told Caesar to fuck off and that I wasn't helping him and left.

The point being, I had more fun role playing and getting into the world as myself and seeing how I can change quests due to MY OWN actions. You're playing an interactive story book, so whatever character you decided to be, fully become it. I realize now I haven't played an RPG as in depth as this game, or at all. This is the closest to a post apocalyptic life simulator that we can get.

Most I've ever spent on shoes: Was finally able to pick up Vault 101 shoes in my size and at a reasonable cost

    Posted: 18 May 2021 04:09 AM PDT

https://imgur.com/a/dzm1hWE - I'm not a shoe guy but a massive Fallout fan and once I remembered these shoes existed I had to get them. Hard to find in a size 10> and under $250-$300. I'm a size between an 11 and 11.5 so can fit into either.

Every so often I'll check ebay for them and a couple days ago a new listing had just been posted: brand new size 11 for $150. I decided to counter at $125 and he immediately took it. Never been so excited about a pair of tennis shoes :D

Does anyone know where I can get a Nuka-cola bottle?

    Posted: 17 May 2021 07:09 PM PDT

In real life, that is. They're all over the wasteland.

I cannot, for the life of me, find a Nuka-cola rocket bottle for sale on ebay, amazon, or etsy. If anyone knows a place for one of these, please tell me! Thanks!

I heard somewhere that Bethesda got some people from the DOOM 2016 team to improve the gunplay of Fallout 4, thus delaying DOOM 2016. Is that true?

Thoughts on stream background with Fallout flags?

https://imgur.com/a/8rtFPsL I couldn't for the life of me think of what to put on these boring, white walls but decided to go with NCR and BOS flags. I'm thinking Vault-Tec or Caesar's Legion for the door.

Why is Project Purity derided as a stupid plot?

    Posted: 17 May 2021 05:20 PM PDT

I know that Fallout 3 got a bit of a nasty reception from the old-school Fallout fans (especially those folks at NMA) for being more an action RPG than a "pure" RPG like the first two games were. But when I kept running into posts about the plot of FO3 being stupid, I just couldn't get it. Maybe I'm the stupid one.

The idea of a giant purifier to clean the water to help out the ecosystem in the Capital Wasteland is a dumb plot? I think whoever says that is thinking that Wasington's only problem is nuclear bombardment.

Yes, being hit with Nukes alone wouldn't destroy the soils' ability to be useful in agriculture (as we see with the West Coast). But the Capital had more than just Nukes to worry about, the area would've been hit with chemical missiles and low yield dirty bombs for the deliberate intention of salting the soil there and making it unusable for large scale agriculture. Those, combined with the leaking FEV from Vault 87, would have done enough damage that something more than just time would be needed to restore the ecosystem.

The Purifier would suck in the contaminated water, purify it and put it back in the river. The River would then interact with the soil and start the process of sucking the leftover chemical weapon damage out, get cleaned again by the purifier and put out again. The whole ecosystem would be slowly cleansed and restored.

    Is that a stupid plot?

I prefer new vegas to FO3 and FO4, but I feel like it was ruined by limitations of the engine

    Posted: 17 May 2021 08:58 PM PDT

Specifically with how many NPCs there were in each area. In fallout 3 the environment made total sense to me - you came across these bleak settlements just barely getting by, so it made sense that they had a limited number of people. Megaton and tenpenny tower were... cozy.

In new vegas, to this day I feel like I'm "pretending" when I play the game. There's a low number of NPCs I assume because the game would crash with too many, but it really wrecks the immersion. For example, freeside is gigantic and there's barely anyone there. The strip and casinos should have hundreds, thousands of people but instead they look barren. The great battle of hoover dam is limited to these tiny skirmishes. The ncr bases have barely anyone there, and the same goes for the legion's fort. I always found it hilarious how you could basically murder the entirety of legion npcs there, and the game treats it like nothing. The only places that feel okay are goodsprings, jacobstown and places like that.

In fallout 3 the ambience is what kept me coming back, but in new vegas it's the depth of quests and characters, not the feel of the world. Does anyone else feel the same way? I seriously think NV would be the greatest video game ever made if the areas had a more realistic number of people. A remake with FO4's graphics and shooting, plus better NPCs, would be my dream come true. That and instant fast travel to the lucky 38.

New Vegas crashed, now not loading in at all

    Posted: 17 May 2021 10:07 PM PDT

Playing on PC. I was at the point of the game where you go to the REPCONN site to clear the ghouls for Manny, but as soon as I walk into the room where the dude over the intercom tells me to go to, the game crashes. I try loading in, and I literally can't. I've been stuck waiting for 20-30 minute periods waiting for my game to load. How can I fix this? I've tried loading in a previous save, nothing. It's irritating, I was really excited to play this game.

If you could combine any game(besides other Fallout games) with Fallout what game would it be?

    Posted: 17 May 2021 04:14 PM PDT

Mine would be Metal Gear Solid V. I love the gameplay of Mgsv and think it would fit well with Fallout 4. Especially since Nate is a decorated veteran. Plus they could always put the abilities behind the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. system. Like the reflex mode could be under agility with crits and accuracy affected by luck and perception. Also the ability to recruit hostiles would be cool. Raiders could be settlers or join your raider gang depending on what you choose for Nuka World. There S.P.E.C.I.A.L. would determine what job they would be best at. Unique named hostiles would have the better stats and could be set as leaders(kind of like sims settlements). Your companions could have abilities and be useful like in MGSv. Dogmeat can work like D-Dog. MacCready and Deacon would be snipers like quiet. Deacon would be more stealth oriented and MacCready would be more coverfire. Danse could be a tank and can aggro enemies. I dunno ai just think it would cool. Mix the rpg elements with good gameplay that requires skill and a proper build.

What game would you mix with Fallout?

So I started to play Fallout 4 again - Full Melee Build vs Lucky Crit "No Sneak" Comparison

    Posted: 17 May 2021 10:34 PM PDT

    Tsukima and Garlock SPECIAL

    Tsukima and Garlock PERKS

So I started to played Fallout 4 again with a female character with not very focused build but I always liked the crafty pistols/rifles type with master picklock and terminals. Im playing both builds on hard mode and no companions with the female character it really gets hard sometimes . So let me give you the pro and cons of this build and then ill explain how much I like the melee one more than this one .

    Playtime: Almost 35 hours

    Pros:

*I dont leave anything behind while looting places due to master picklock and terminals perks

*Charisma is helpful to get around stuff , more caps on quests and more xp when you

*Righteous Authority and an Enraging 10 mm pistol combo works pretty good against large number of enemies.

    Cons:

    *Not very durable

*The carry weight is too little and it gets annoying relying on chems/alcohol

*Sometimes I have to rely on sneak attacks even tho I dont intend for the build to be play this way (I do the same in Skyrim , I end always playing sneak / bow and arrow build)

So I went to Far Harbor and after almost dying from radiation from going full Anakin against the Child of Atom (Idk I just hate the idea of a radiation cult) . I decided to give it a try to a Melee build since I also like tanky builds. After 7 hours I think im going to stay with this build. At first I was kind of skeptical since the melee combat in this game is super clunky compared to Skyrim , but Damm this is so much fun. Like I do so much damage , I just one shot my enemies with VATS most of the time. I went looking for Grognak magazines and his items (had to cheat on the lockpick to get his Axe) , the game feels so much rewarding honestly.

    Playtime: Almost 7hours

    Pros:

*One Punch Man Damage most of the time

*Idiot Savant hits like 4 times in a row sometimes.

*Lots of caps since I sell the ammo , weapons and aaaaalll the shit I can find since worrying about carry weight is not an issue now.\

    Cons:

*Relying on VATS too much (I mean you basically can teleport and one hit your enemies most of the times)

*Cant take a lot of damage since I dont like Power armor

*No more looting and unlocking things with terminals/lockpicks :(

Well I just wanted to share how overall I liked the Melee Build more , maybe the female character build was suffering a lot from my obsession of Master Terminals / Locks that the synergy between my playstyle and perks was not really that effective. I tried to play Fallout 76 and after a few playthroughs I quitted , ask me in the comments if you are curious on why I stopped hehe.

Also is there a way to meet Shaun in the Institute without following the Main Quest ?

Fallout 3: special dialogue from dlcs?

    Posted: 17 May 2021 09:34 PM PDT

So I've been living under a rock or, in a vault as it were because I've played fallout 3, new vegas, and fallout 4 but I just recently picked up the fallout 3 goty via steam's bethesda sale. Since I've never played any fallout 3 dlcs, I was wondering if you get any special dialogue options if you either play the dlcs in a certain order or if u played them before the main quest, also drop what order you guys play them in for story and special dialogue related reasons

Fallout 2 spiked knuckles do more damage than it should according to the wiki.

    Posted: 17 May 2021 10:31 PM PDT

I was wondering if anyone could help me figure out why the spiked knuckles in my version of Fallout 2 do up to 14 damage when the wiki states it should be up to 10. The only mods I installed were the high res mod pack and the restoration mod but none of those, from what I can tell, state anything about weapon damage changes.

Fallout 4 was my favorite game on Xbox; finally playing it on PC with Max settings, unlocked FPS, and graphic Mods. It’s honestly like a new game to me the way it feels/looks. Im really excited for my next play-through!

    Posted: 17 May 2021 09:00 AM PDT

Recently upgraded my rig so im finally playing with maxed settings and high FPS after unlocking it and downloaded a mod to fix the wonky high fps physics. It feels like a whole new game it is so crazy to me. The first part in concord was so cinematic looking with the combination of a few mods I have running. Those being the darkest possible night mod along with vivid weathers, and a mod that overhauls energy weapon disintegration effects.

I was moving up towards the raiders that were fighting Preston in the middle of the night during a crazy storm; I used the light from the lightning in the sky to see my way, the storm at night alone just looked incredible. Took out a few raiders but one was being evasive; he was giving me a hard time but then he was vaporized by prestons laser musket. The timing was perfect because I was struggling against him, and the way he went up in flame and melted down to a skeleton during the night looked like something out of a next Gen Fallout game or something lol.

I've played with mods before, so its just the massive difference that running on Max graphics with high fps makes with these mods. So excited for this play-through.

Brotherhood of Steel; post mission help

    Posted: 17 May 2021 09:24 PM PDT

Playing Fallout 4 for the first time. I had such a hard time completing brotherhood of steel missions at the beginning of the game. The part where you have to find the holo tapes to the dead soldiers.

I looked at youtube videos for some help because for the life of me i could not retrieve the holotape from the satellite array. Those big dudes and their dogs would kill me instantly.

Anyway, i saw that you can get danse as a companion and he would help you. The thing is, i was never even asked by him to tag along! I eventually did it on my own but how do you get Danse as a companion??? I also remember reading about some shadow mission and blind betrayal i believe? Which after completing those, then he would help you but i never got those missions.

What if the next single-player fallout game is connected to the mobile game fallout shelter?

    Posted: 18 May 2021 03:03 AM PDT

If you think about it, the starting vault for the next singleplayer fallout game could be loaded in from your own fallout shelter vault.

where all your characters, weapons and armors are present (excluding the lore-breaking items and characters, like PRESTON GARVEY still bugging me about settlements that need my help)

For balancing, it could be based on level, where low tier items like the pipe pistol is freely accessible from the start, and gradually the storage area with a person assigned to it will eventually give the higher tier weapons like fatman and plasma weapons in higher levels.

Also story-wise Bethesda could add hard coded characters that will be included in everyone's vault which should drive the story forward.

    What are your thoughts?
