Racism, Ideology & Super Mutants Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:39 PM PST I've been playing fallout 1 and I wanted to share my thoughts on the ideology of the game to see if people think I'm crazy. I think unlike the other fallout games, fallout 1 has a core morality to share about racism and is trying to send a message about how skin tone is less dividing than we believe. The master, who created the super mutants believed that our race and the differences created by race divide us. He believed humanity was doomed to always blow itself up as long as they had major, obvious differences like race or skin tone to fight over. His idea was to create the super mutant, a race of super humans impervious to the dangers of the waste and removed from the separating factors of skin tone and race. What he learned tho, was that all he'd done is increase separation. These new super mutants were more different to humans than any race before. The failed tests caused violent, idiotic versions who would mercilessly and pointlessly attack people. This turned the Super Mutants into a persecuted race. Not only this but not all intelligent super mutants agreed with each other's ideologies, separating into factions. In the end, the master only created more division between people. A new race to segregate. And on top of that, despite all being the same racially, they were not the same ideologically, failing the masters expectation of unity through superiority in race. It seems the masters focus on race was more damaging than the dividing factors of race itself. I've found that Fallout often touches on many, many subjects but I find it interesting that the first games focus' on such a relatable and down to earth subject. Also this isn't talked about much and that's shame. Fallout 1 has lots to analyse! [link] [comments] |
Which animal or insect would you like to see become irradiated in a future fallout game? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 09:18 PM PST Would love to see a cicada become irradiated because just imagine patrolling the the wasteland and hearing incredibly loud buzzing until a giant cicada attacks [link] [comments] |
Trying to locate a job site in-game Posted: 03 Feb 2021 04:51 AM PST I'm a plumber who does a lot of residential new construction work in East Boston, and I'm doing a job on Meridian Street right next to the Andrew McArdle Bridge, so it's a nice easy place to mark on the map in-game. I started a new game, did a little traveling, saved everyone's favorite P.I. Mr. Valentine, and then I waded my way through the flooded streets of Eastie. I know Eastie pretty well by now, so I was excited to see the East Boston Police Department (albeit a shattered husk). The area is a little too destroyed to really find any solid comparisons. Finally, I reached my custom marker, right where I'd find the job site. Admittedly, the area was untouched, and it didn't look really anything like the area irl. Chock it up to an alternate timeline and the fact that the bombs fell in 2077 so things could have changed. The bridge irl is a drawbridge that goes up constantly, but it isn't a drawbridge in-game. I did, however, notice that there is a diner across the street from where the job should have been. Irl, there's a gas station/Honey Dew Donuts there. It's close enough lol. [link] [comments] |
What's your favourite background music of the series? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 12:06 AM PST I'm not talking what's on the radio, I'm talking the ambient sounds, the action music, the sound effects etc. I loved the creepiness of Fallout 3's areas, but playing it back it's not as good. Fallout 76 had some powerful scores, especially when you first leave the vault. But I'm replaying Far Harbour now, and the ongoing background music in that is just perfect. It's cheerful enough to prod you forward, it's ominous enough to keep you at your wits, it fills you with dread and also adventure. Not to mention Far Harbour itself is a brilliant island, it's such a shame this music is only on this little DLC. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:26 PM PST This is a thing? I don't see it in the App Store or anything i never heard of this or anything [link] [comments] |
Can FONV run on a non gaming laptop? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 02:15 AM PST So i recently got my new laptop, a HP probook. Will Fallout NV run on this? Also can i use mods wif this pc? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2021 04:47 PM PST I've never actually gone with them on the trip to Paradise Falls before and was wondering if they had any unique dialogue upon reaching their destination. So far, I've had to fend off a sentry bot and an enclave outpost... [link] [comments] |
Fallout 1: Okay so what just happened to me with the Khans? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:50 PM PST I went to rescue Tandi and the first time around the Khan leader killed me. Expected, FO1 is a hard game. Then I tried again and told him it would be bad for his spiritual health. He said he didn't care and killed me again. So I reloaded my save from when I left Shady Sands then when I came back everyone was suddenly afraid of me and calling me a ghost... just wut? Edit: I should note that I have already completed the quest and saved Tandi but still. The ghost thing is weird. Haven't gone back to check on the Khans. They are not hostile towards me as far as I am aware. But I am not going back to check until I escape the time limit. [link] [comments] |
IDK how to post sketchbook pics help Posted: 03 Feb 2021 03:38 AM PST So i made some cool drawings in SketchBook and i cannot post them. They are as follows: Marksman Stock, Gamma Pistol, Gamma overradiator and Fizz nuclear Soda. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 03 Feb 2021 03:04 AM PST Given their size and their diet I imagine it would smell something like a chemical fire in a fertilizer factory mixed with rotting beef and three-year old egg yolks. I think being trapped in a Pulowski Preservation Shelter with a flatulent supermutant would be the worst punishment. I'm also pretty sure Suiciders make their mini-nukes out of balloons filled with captured supermutant farts. [link] [comments] |

What moment in Fallout always gives you chills? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 02:35 AM PST For me it's either when you first meet the Enclave in 2 and 3, and when the prydwen arrives in 4. Absolutely iconic moments. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:55 PM PST i used to have a mod for Fallout on Xbox One that allowed you to use more vanilla looking parts for your Mr Handys. if you haven't noticed when modifying a Mr Handy at your robot workbench it'll add a silver piece covering the robot's exhaust. this is normally exposed and i believe it looks better when it is. this mod added multiple vanilla components to add to robots including protectron parts, sentry bot parts and these mister handy/gutsy parts taken from the vanilla robots found out and about and i'd really like to find this again. Posted: 02 Feb 2021 07:52 AM PST I'm part of this crowd. New Vegas was just such a good game it was idiotic. We all know that the game was only made in 18 months, so there is just so much potential. I personally want a return to New Vegas, and see it done properly. Casinos more flushed out, Legion more flushed out, everything. Honestly it excites me more than any potential new location. God I know its such a circle jerk but I just want more New Vegas man [link] [comments] |
What was your first encounter with a nuke in fallout 76? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 10:06 PM PST i first thought everything was going to be obliterated and the world would get destroyed. turns out it only affects a small area and keeps the landscape almost the same [link] [comments] |
Which East Coast faction had the best chance at rebuilding civilization? Posted: 03 Feb 2021 05:15 AM PST Say the best case scenario happens to this faction, who of the canon factions we can interact with will be able to rebuild the East Coast? And the Republic of Dave is banned because they are way too OP. [link] [comments] |
Does anyone use Logan's Loophole Trait in Fallout: New Vegas? Posted: 02 Feb 2021 04:49 PM PST Does anyone use the Logan's Loopehole trait? It seems very limiting. Is the benefit worth it? Apparently the game levels with the player a bit so locking at 30 isn't too detrimental. Edit: I also asked on Discord. People have said this so far: "a number of people, the game doesn't really scale with levels so above level 30 is mostly just kind of there I guess?" "Yeah, it's a fine trait. Especially if you have a pretty high intelligence you can more or less max out all the skills you need for any given run anyway. Plus the enemies always scale with your level, so aside from extra skill points and perks there's not really any point to leveling" "chems are broken as fuck" "Chems are how you win combat with shit skills. Gotta handle a boxing match but you put 0 points in unarmed? Psycho-med x-buffout time!" [link] [comments] |
