How do you feel about "Living" Mannequins in the Lore?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 07:57 PM PST

I was recently watching Oxhorn's video on Valley Galleria from Fallout 76 and he was mentioning cut content that would have featured living mannequins fighting the store AI. I haven't played Fallout 76 but I think this would have been the first time that living mannequins would have been part of a quest. We've previously come across tons of scenes in other games that have mannequins, lawn gnomes, and teddy bears appearing in compromising positions alluding to them having some type of sentience. How do you feel about the possibility of all of it being more than a goofy easter egg and becoming a legitimate part of the canon?

To me, it almost feels heretical for something that can only have some sort of mystical explanation to be part of the canon. I suppose Dunwich Borers already falls into that category, but Dunwich exists almost in its own bubble where it doesn't have its hands (or tentacles) in the greater narrative of Fallout and I get the impression that it probably never will. I suppose evil mannequins has its place as a silly 1950's era horror monster and could become part of the Dunwich Borers story.

    What do you think?

How do energy weapons deal with cooling?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 08:55 PM PST

Just about every firearm is either air cooled or water cooled, because the barrel can get hot to the touch, especially with high caliber weapons or in hot and dry climates. However, I don't see any way energy weapons, namely laser weapons, disperse heat. I'd imagine the heat generated from a a single laser beam would be exceptional.

Why doesn't the NCR use snipers to deal with Lanius?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 02:59 AM PST

In the NCR ending to FNV, we can see Lanius standing in a very exposed position. A few minutes earlier, however, the Courier gets approached by a NCR Veteran Ranger squad leader who offers to help the Courier with sniper support. How comes these snipers don't just blow Lanius's head off with their high-calibre rifles? Lore-wise, they absolutely could do that. Instead, two NCR Rangers charge at Lanius with combat knifes, as if that had any chance of success.

    What is ballistic fiber/weave?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 01:28 PM PST

Is it like Kevlar or is it like combat armor in textile form? Do we know if the weave is just fiber or if it has plates inserted into the clothing article like the bulletproof clothes produced by Miguel Caballero? Any information at all would be helpful!

How large is Rivet city really?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 01:36 PM PST

The aircraft carrier Rivet city is from is clearly modeled from the USS Oriskany), but the Fallout 3 concept art shows the aircraft carrier the be much larger than it's real life counterpart. Just look how tall it is compared to the buildings beside it. From the looks of it, it looks like it could possibly be 30 decks at its height. We know Fallout is scaled down due to engine and hardware limitations (and especially for the Xbox 360 and PS4), so would the concept art for Rivet city be how it should actually look if realized to its fullest potential?

What happens when The Courier sides with Mr. House.

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 11:40 PM PST

So basicly, I am a huge Mr.House fan. He is also my favorite fallout character. Charismatic, honest, smart and he knows his golas. So i want to ask you and see your opinion. If you finish New Vegas for Mr. House, do you really think he would "save" the humanity. Do you think he would really head into space, colonize other planets etc. I honestly think he would. What do you think would happen in the next few decades or 100 or 200 years. What would happen to the Courier. Also, a lot of people do not like him, so please, tell us why you dislike or like Mr. House.

Was this terminal entry written post-war?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 04:05 PM PST

A terminal in Eastern Regional Penitentiary- D Block states that "Prisoners in Cell Block D are for organized crime, including union organizers and Communists. They're all gangs, if you ask me, just as bad as Mad Dog Malone and his kind." Does this mean it was written post war, if so by whom? My guess was the warden but I'm not sure. Thanks

[New Vegas] What's the difference between the ED-E in the Mojave and the one in the Divide?

    Posted: 02 Feb 2021 05:12 AM PST

It seems to me that the ED-E in the base game is the original.

Is the ED-E you find in the Lonesome Road DLC a copy or backup of the one in the Mojave? How come they share the same "software/AI"?
