How well known are the protagonists of the fallout games across the wasteland? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 04:06 PM PST I know in fallout 2 you play as the grandchild of the Vault Dweller, so obviously he/she would be famous for starting that city.. but how well known are the Chosen One, Lone Wanderer, Courier, and Sole Survivor across the wasteland? Are they icons or just another cog in the machine? I feel like the Lone Wanderer would be pretty well known for helping with project purity but I'm not sure about the others. Thanks in advance! This has become one of my favorite subs to browse! [link] [comments] |
Why are 100+ year old weapon designs still seeing service? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:55 PM PST For example, the R91 (Heckler & Koch G3) and the Service Rifle (AR-15 derivative with the charging handle on right side of the receiver). While I understand the retro futurism art style and the 50's and 60's vibe of architecture and technology, I never understood why in the year 2077 weapon patterns and designs from 100+ years ago are still being commonly used. This would be like if modern militaries today were relegated to using bolt action rifles from the turn of the century. Did the G3 and AR-15 not exist in the Fallout universe when they existed in our time frame? The G3 was designed in the 1950's so it's not unbelievable to think it would exist in the Fallout universe around the same due to the major divergence only being a few years prior. Did Fallout technology stagnate so much that it took them nearly a 100 years to design the same firearm that we designed and fielded in the 1950's? Maybe I'm thinking too hard into it? It's probably just the way it is and wasn't meant to be thought too hard of. [link] [comments] |
Why did the Secret Service have such good equipment? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 11:01 AM PST The title really, in real life the secret service wear suits etc, but in 76 they have the strongest armour and weapons around. Is there a reason for this divergence? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jan 2021 06:44 PM PST Every time I restart a new character on fallout four I always have a heartfelt thought for the guard who yelled "send it down! Hurry!" Like in that moment that they saw the nuke go off one dude was like no this is how I'm going to go out LOL. I'll VaultTec always knew how to select that right folk. [link] [comments] |
How come nukes didn't destroy cities completely? Posted: 18 Jan 2021 12:36 AM PST How is it that the nukes in the fallout games never completey leveled the areas they were dropped in? My main reason for asking this question is because at the start of Fallout 4, you see a nuke. To someone who's never heard or played the game before they would think that everything would be destroyed, but thats kind of the opposite. Comparing photos of the nuke dropped in fallout 4 and the nuke dropped on Hiroshima, they look roughly the same size. Looking at photos of the Hiroshima after the bombing shows that everything was leveled to rubble. Whereas in Fallout 4, most things survived. I understand that it was far away but still there should be much more destruction than there is already. Also how come cars in the game have engines that are still dangerous and radioactive? Does that mean they still have functioning engines? [link] [comments] |
What exactly is the Bozar from fallout2? Posted: 17 Jan 2021 05:07 PM PST This weapon as my GOTO for the entire series of many many many playthroughs I had of this game. But never figured out if it was modelled off anything. My best guess is a M82 barrett. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrett_M82 https://fallout.fandom.com/wiki/Bozar This gun has been around a lot longer than I thought - and it has been around 10 years before the release of fallout 2 - perhaps a spin - off automatic version of the massive 50cal sniper rifle? Has anyone got any other theories? What are some other guns you're unsure of the origins? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jan 2021 04:26 PM PST I have a small theory about why we find a lot of pipe weapons in pre-war locked safes that I would like to share and possibly get some feedback. Pre war America was not in the best of places economically and, despite winning the war against China, the paranoia about a Chinese invasion of the mainland was probably very present around Americans. So they started building pipe weapons in order to have some ordinance in case of invasion without having to soend a lot of money on professional weapons such as the 10mm pistol and various assault rifles. The fact that they are made very easily and are basically free means that a lot of people kept one "just in case" and also that there were a lot of pipe weapons used by street gangs and criminals for the same reasons (costs and the easiness to build them) What do you people think about this? Could it explain why there are so many pipe weapons in pre war safes? [link] [comments] |

About Shoddycast's Lore series. Posted: 18 Jan 2021 12:36 AM PST It really bums me out how they ruined a great thing. In my opinion season 1 all the way up to episode 17 was peak. I couldn't have asked for a better type of lore explanation series than that. And then they go of doing som Machinima type thing that made me cringe to the core. I remember watching the first episode and i was hooked just waiting for the second episode to release. After the episode named "the storyteller" the magic was gone... I watched the entirety of it and it just made it worse. The worst part is that TheNthApple and shoddycast don't do the stuff they used to. Shame is people turn to Oxhorn and I'm personally not a fan of that dude. Bottom line is they had a great formula but ultimately ended up changing the entire thing and ruined it in my opinion. I'd really like to hear what other people think about the topic so feel free to tell me if you don't agree and why! [link] [comments] |
I have a few questions about the BOS to do with their stance on chems, robots and the Minutemen Posted: 17 Jan 2021 01:55 PM PST So I've started a BOS build which is only the second time I've played through with them and I was wondering if some elements would fit in with them as I'm trying to role play quite heavily... Firstly, chems. The build I'm going for is a bit of a darker than most Brotherhood soldier but not evil. She's still loyal to the Brotherhood and follows the rules pretty strictly, particularly with stuff like synths and mutants etc. but I was wondering where the Brotherhood stands on taking chems in battle (jet, psycho, med-x and buffout) but also in terms of selling them. They seem very authoritarian and like they need to control everything so controlling the drugs in the Commonwealth seems reasonable to me so I was thinking about incorporating chem dealing into my character build (mainly jet). I know Danse doesn't like them but I was thinking beyond just him. Maybe build a few settlements with Brahmin and so on. Secondly, The Minutemen. I have already become the general of the Minutemen but I haven't done much else with them. I don't plan on building many settlements, I was thinking a warehouse style thing in Starlight Drive in, my player home at Boston Airport and maybe a few checkpoint kind of places elsewhere but that was it. I was wondering how the Brotherhood feels about them though, if I was to decide to build up more places and lean more into being the general, taking back the castle and things. I'm not overly fussed on them this play through so would rather keep the RP accurate. I'd like to take the Castle for the Brotherhood but I don't think that's possible without mods. Lastly, robots. I was debating putting a robot workshop in my player home and maybe even using one as a companion. With their feelings on tech being so strong, I was wondering what they may think of it. Sorry if this has been asked before or this isn't the right place to ask these questions, any help would be appreciated! [link] [comments] |
Weather Control Systems: Big MT & ATLAS Posted: 17 Jan 2021 05:04 PM PST I havent played Old World Blues since maybe 2012 and haven't delved too deep into F76, but are the various weather control systems mentioned at both Big MT in New Vegas and the ATLAS observatory in Fallout 76 in any way related? And either way, to what extent did these work? I know that Big MT is half the reason for the crazy storms of the Divide, but how did this come to be? Apologies if this is a surprisingly simple answer but im half asleep and Google hasn't been all that useful in providing answers [link] [comments] |
At the minutemens hight what was there reach Posted: 17 Jan 2021 03:47 PM PST When Preston tells you about the good days and the fall of the minute men he mentions different groups under general becker(?) are there other groups throughout Massachusetts and New England or are/were they entirely localized in the immediate Boston area [link] [comments] |
Posted: 17 Jan 2021 02:15 PM PST Like Codsworth, his programming seems to force him to remain at his home, or perhaps sense of duty, he however understands and despairs on the situation he found himself in. On the other hand we have Far Harbor vault/hotel and their denizens. Robobrains act like morons who know nothing and Mr. Handy we meet see destroyed world and are like 'ok' and go on with the job, some even find some strange explanations to the situation like ghouls being rowdy clients at sports event or SS being policeman detective. Or Sentry bot at some military location going his standard 'do not interfere'. Another comparison would be Mr Nanny in school found in Diamond city, she is even in love with the teacher but unsure of her feelings. Compared to self proclaimed 'super advanced AI robot girl' Mr Nanny and her coworker who manage the Greygarden and do not acknowledge war and apocalypse. She makes it sound like SS is crazy for mentioning he has seen her creator on TV from 200 years ago. This excludes super basic ones like maintenance Mr Handy and so on that repair vault in Far harbor or the robots tending the plants on the managers orders. [link] [comments] |
