Fallout 3 deserves more appreciation and respect

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:36 PM PST

I feel like in recent years, NV fans have praised NV as if it's perfect ignoring all of its flaws, and hated on 3 when just 5-6 years ago (prior to 4's release) that wasn't the case.

3, while not perfect, is a very good game, and even if you dislike parts of it or prefer other games, at least acknowledge that it has some good stuff in it.

It has great atmosphere, some good quests, gameplay, music, etc.

It was a great game and a good first attempt for Bethesda.

IMO, it's great and stays true to what Fallout is while also trying new things.

Fallout means different things to different people, but too many people think Fallout is nothing but choices, when in reality that's just one part of many.

Also keep in mind that NV wouldn't exist without 3.

NV is very good, but it isn't perfect. For example: It's main story is more political and lacks a personal/emotional side, which imo would improve it. Some of the locations are lacking, etc.

I don't expect everyone to agree, I just wish each game could be appreciated for its pros and be analyzed/critiqued (with constructive criticism) for its faults, not just mindless hate.

I guess I'm just tired of people hating on me for liking a game, it's not enough to disagree. Instead they have to tell me I'm wrong and the thing I like is terrible, even though I try and ignore them, sometimes people like that get to me.

[FNV] I made a randomizer for New Vegas!!

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:09 PM PST

    https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/70845

I think this comment I just got sums up the mod better than I ever could:

"Okay played around for 10 minutes and love the mod already. The Bighorners are now robots & deathclaws, and the school house is full of high level enemies. Fortunately there's a Ghost guarding Victor's house. And if things get out of hand, I saw Easy Pete has a Light Machinegun now."

If you guys do give it a try, I hope you have a good time! :D

    WHAT GETS RANDOMIZED

    • Player's starting stats (you're still free to make changes with the Vigor Tester)
    • Player's starting inventory• NPC inventories
    • Merchant inventories and spending money (barely done)
    • Container inventories (almost done)
    • Creature spawns (they retain their factions, AI, and sometimes their name) (halfway done)

I should have everything done by next week! I just wanted to get this out in hopes of getting some feedback before version 1.0 drops.

    ADDITIONAL CHANGES

    • Tutorials and DLC pop-up messages have been disabled
    • Equip slots of most headwear have been changed to maximize what can be worn together
    • NPCs are more reckless with weapons that deal splash damage
    • Sunny gives you a random ranged weapon during the quest Back in the Saddle

How can the Lone Wanderer swim?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 02:40 PM PST

Stupid question but I don't understand it. They should have to learn how to swim first, as far as I know Vault 101 didn't have any pools and the Wanderer lived almost an entirely sheltered life inside of the vault since at least age 1. They didn't leave until 19 years old, so there isn't much of a way for them to be able to swim.

This May Piss People Off, But Fallout 76 Isn't bad anymore.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 12:08 PM PST

I actually enjoy playing Fallout 76. I think adding humans back was good, Wastelanders questline is pretty good, and Steel Dawn is good.

I found a child skeleton in Fallout 4

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 07:20 PM PST

I found a skeleton in Fallout 4. I don't think this was deliberate since Bethesda is against depicting dead children or allowing the player to kill children.

I believe that the child skeleton model is a scaled down version of the naked adult skeleton model. I think this is the case since the skull is the same size of an adult skull. The bones are definitely smaller.

Edit: My bad, I didn't realize that other fallout games included child skeletons. I didn't play much of Fallout 3 to realize there were child skeletons.

The only reason I made it NSFW is just because it's controversial showing skeletons/ bodies of children. It would be extremely controversial to allow you to kill children of course.

    Child Skeleton image

The skeleton is located on the top floor of the Mass Bay Medical Center.

What hopes do you guys have for the Fallout tv show

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 09:19 PM PST

I'm probably late, and this has probably been asked many times, but I want to hear what people think.

How do you guys feel about the idea of Fallout as a television series?

Do you think it will be good, or do you think we'll end up with another Netflix's Castlevania on our hands?

What do you think will be kept in, do you think will be kept out?

Anything you don't want them to add?

I know it is way too early to really know what they would keep and what they would cut, but this is just for fun.

Are there Ghost noises in Fallout New Vegas?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:53 PM PST

So there I was just taking my nightly strolls outside of Vegas with Arcade. And I swear I heard a whisper. I turn around and there's nothing, so I keep on then I heard another along with a ghostly moan. Needless to say I need some new pants. But has someone ever encountered the and thing?

[FO4] Are there any institute members that are stationed outside the commonwealth and even possibly laboratories?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 01:07 AM PST

I know about the fallout 3 quest of a synth and a courser, however I've never played fo3 so ik not 100% sure and if there ar any institute members outside Boston what are they doing and are they synths or human scientists? And does this mean that destroying the institute doesn't completely wipe it from the fallout universe?

    No "good" ending - FNV

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 08:46 AM PST

So I've completed New Vegas with all DLCs and I'm surprised that there isn't a "good" ending in this game.

Whatever faction you side with (or no faction) every faction's rule has eventually very serious disadvantages. The legion is obvious, with its ultra-fascist world view and its whole ideology focused only on war. NCR is imperialistic force ruled by money and corruption, keeps the locals down and does a mixed job at organizing things. Mr. House is an authoritarian technocratic regime, mercilessly suppressing any opposition or freedom, and Yes Man has basically no ideology or plan for ruling, besides guarding the whole Mojave, and the end result is very chaotic.

I love it, because it gives that real fallout feel, when the line is blurry and there is no such thing as a perfect solution, but at the same time I feel sorry for the Mojave, who have to put up with all those flawed factions. I'd really love to see another faction in the game, which would maybe be similar to Soviet Russia or have some other socialist ideology and be in similar conflict with the NCR as the USA was with the Soviets during the cold war.

Anyway, thanks for reading! What's your thoughts? :)

EDIT: Just had an idea, where you could create your own faction in a Fallout game, set its beliefs, type of organization, economy etc. That could be amazing.

I'm playing some 76 (only about 4 hours in) and I really like how often the strength gives you 'violent thug' responses in dialogue

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 10:31 PM PST

It already makes the game feel a bit more like a roleplaying game than 4 was. Plus, because I was leveling up strength for usefulness, it also gave my character well, character. Suddenly I was playing more of a scumbag because strength gave me that option.

Was going to comment on another post about how 76 isn’t bad anymore but it’s 3 am and I can’t sleep (Possible Spoilers and grammar/spelling mistakes)

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:10 AM PST

I agree it's come a long ways since launch. I literally played FO3 until my 360 destroyed my disk, had all DLC, replayed main story countless times, explored about every location about three times. Think the story made decent sense with flaws and all. But the dark nature of it all really gripped me in my high school years, even had a long Mohawk that I usually combed to the side much like in game. But it became my favorite game ever at the time and I didn't touch anything else for months or probably most of that year.

FO4 comes along, gets hyped like REALLY F'N HYPED. I pre-order one of the special editions, pick it up put it in, beat the story. Liked some aspects of the game but over all I was let down harder than everyone who thought 2020 was 'their year'. The missing son was interesting at first but as I played it later becomes kind of redundant, synths were kind of stupid IMO didn't like how heavily it encompasses the story, didn't like how much of the map was water, and Boston just didn't feel as dark as the capital wasteland. Messed around with building but it didn't seem to have a real purpose bc who was going to see it besides me? So proceeded to trade in the game with a week of purchase and never touched or felt the need too again.

Years later I was working at GameStop and we were told about 76. I instantly had a feeling that the hype train was about to get stupid and it was going to be another let down. People came in to preorder and id kinda summarize my experience with 4 bc I was so disappointed with what was once my absolute favorite franchise. And to my surprise it did nothing to stop customers and coworkers from pre-ordering. 76 dropped and when I came back to GameStop a few days later we were full of 76 trade ins and the internet began to scorch the earth of it. I laughed and felt like Bethesda was never going to recover.

After that I joined the Army in real life, went to basic , got to my first unit, and deployed for 9 months in less than 60 days of getting there. Sadly it was just a training rotation that got extend cuz of Roner. So for about a total of 12 months I had only played like 3 different games. When time started drawing down I started reading up on game reviews and seen that 76 had got wastelanders and was pretty cheap.

So eventually I come back home get hit with second stimmy and decided to give 76 a try out of curiosity. I was very surprised and was borderline addicted to it during quarantine. I'll admit it has its problems but I honestly enjoy it! It doesn't have the SJW vibes I felt from 4 that I didn't enjoy, takes a different approach to the story, camps actually have purpose with vendors other people being about to actually see it now. The half second delay in damage recognition sucks, servers still crash, weapons need repair kits now and you have to pay caps to fast travel. But even all that doesn't really damper my experience too much, and there's still a lot I have yet to do. The community is probably one of the best online I've ever seen and other players don't really affect my time in negative ways. Just really hope in the future they expand like they did with steel dawn especially with Enclave!

Ending remarks: No I never played NV, yes I regret it and yes I hope they remaster it.

    Did Ghoulification Happen During WWII?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 12:03 AM PST

My understanding is that the Fallout universe followed our own timeline until the 1950's, so WWII should have happened the same way as ours with nuclear bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I'm curious if ghoulification happened in that universe when those bombs were dropped?

[Bug help?] [New Vegas] NCR is hostile even though they Idolize me...?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2021 03:42 AM PST

Hi! So as the title says i have any issue/bug where the NCR attack me on sight even though I am idolized by them. I am not wearing any faction outfits, putting on an NCR outfits makes them neutral but as soon as unequip the armor they turn hostile. I have tried several thing that has been suggested in other threads such as waiting, console commands, going back to old saves, unequipping and reequipping faction armor etc, however nothing seems to work.

To give a little more context as to when the problem appeared, I have recently built a new computer and I wanted to continue my playthrough from before I built the new computer. Once I started the game on my new computer I loaded up my saves (with the exact same mods installed as before) and that is when every NCR soldier is hostile. I am one hundred percent sure they werent hostile on those same savefiles on my previous computer.

Have anyone experienced this before? Any ideas as to how to solve it? Is there a mod that could fix it? Could it be a mod that is causing it? (even though my game is only lightly modded and I have not added any mod since my I played on my previous computer)

Any and all help is much appreciated!
