For any fallout 2 players out there. Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:53 PM PST The most optimal Lone wolf with gifted build that I can make would have to be... S-5(+4 from advanced power armor, +1 strength from module) P-9(+1 perception from module) E-4(save often till you can kill everything in one go C-2(lone wolf remember) I-9(+1 intelligence from module) A-10(or 9 if you are doing RP which you will get +1 agility from mysterious fluid) L-8(+2 hubologist in NCR zeta scan, might need to try a few times, save before hand) I went big guns(bozar🤤), steal(for bozar and cash), speech(makes the game easier. Also went fast shot but but you can mutate later if you want. [link] [comments] |
A Song I Need To Be Included In The Next Fallout Game Posted: 28 Dec 2020 12:30 AM PST Is "End of the World" by Aphrodite's Child. Had a dream about Fallout 4's intro scene with this song playing in the background, and now I can't stop thinking how perfectly it fits the franchise. [link] [comments] |

Why NY and not just NYC would be a unique, interesting, and fun FO5 setting Posted: 27 Dec 2020 02:16 PM PST To start, this should be a single player game. If Bethesda/Obsidian/MS can make it so I can play with 1 or 2 friends, I want that but understand it's not that simple. So why it should be picked: First, NY has an amazing history when it comes to Pre-Revolution, Revolution, the Civil War, and beyond. Major events like the battle at Saratoga (which is considered the turning point of the Revolution), the 1980 Miracle on Ice, and Woodstock (along with a whole lot more) all took place in upstate NY. So the rich history of the area is ripe for pro American stylizing and propaganda that gives FO it's unique take on American Atom-punk. That along with more modern history of things like the Native Americans (The Oneidas) actually taking back their land and forming their own sovereign nation (basically they have their own gov. Pay no state taxes, and self govern with police, fire, and allow gambling which NY does not). So their modern government would not only be some great lore, but I honestly believe could be a basis for the main quest line. Things like their unique tribal leadership, philosophy, and gambling (hello 10 luck) could bring a very grey area to fallout that was kind of missed in FO3 + 4. Plus their mythology would make for a great weird scene that fallout has at least 1 of every game. Also, for those who don't know, upstate NY is very country with major cities pocketed about. (Utica, Albany, Syracuse, etc). So if you liked NV style of wandering the wastes, or 3s style of city wandering, we've got both. Also, we've got two mountains areas, one in the Adirondacks and the Catskills are the other. That said, one of the most important parts of fallout are the locations. Where can we go? For that I have a list: Major locations: Lake Placid Winter Olympics training facility - the winter olympics world be held in 2078 and if they still exist by then and to play into the game, LP could be the location of those games. Again, the miracle on ice where American Amateurs bested the Communist Russian Pros, was held there. The "Better dead than Red" sentiment would be full force. Not to mention one of a few great locations for a possible vault (80, in this case to house winter olympians). Plus, the weapons could be cool too. Hockey sticks, hockey skate blades on gloves, a goalie mask for armor, you name it. Cooperstown Baseball HOF - Now when you think Americana, Baseball is one of your first thoughts, don't lie. Cooperstown is baseball central and very pretty. Another great place for pro-american styles and fun gear like baseball base mines, softball helmets (because fuck you "A League of Their Own" style pro-baseball league in FO sounds awesome), and of course bats and baseball grenades. Also a baseball Vault (Vault 4, 5, 7, or 9). Not my idea, but in this vault, there's 32 teams of mens and 32 teams of womens baseball (or coed teams, idk), all of whom are pro players. Vault tec test is simple, winner gets food and drinks, loser gets steroid infused food and drink (but they don't know it has steroids obviously). The idea is, test how good at baseball people can be if given monster amounts of steroids for generations. I'll make a separate post about this in detail if desired. Canastota Boxing HOF - Another unique area for America. Canastota is pretty boring and empty, but for those of you old enough to remember Rocky when it came out, it basically revived Boxing as a major sport and also had a moment where America bested the Red Menace (Rocky IV). Maybe a spot for a vault or to learn unique unarmed moves. Pugilism Illustrated anyone? Albany - NYs capital and an easy big city area along the Hudson. A great location for corporate greed, governmental corruption, and side quests. Can't say it'll be the focal point of the game since its very near the eastern border of it, but a good location for exploring and lore. Buffalo/Niagara Falls - Ya ever gone over the falls in a barrel? Do ya want to? I think using Niagara Falls (which has an American and Canadian side, Canadas is the U-shaped famous one) as Fallouts first "Non-American" location would be fun. First, the falls are beautiful and are a major source of hydroelectric power. Second, in FO, America annexed canada, so it's technically still America! Third, right across the "border" are casinos! More gambling! Third and a half, it's another big city and buffalo is where the buffalo wing was invented (God bless buffalo wings). Besides the cool lore opportunity about the annexation and the city location, the falls could be a major location for the story if the main conflict was about powering the area, similar to NV. Syracuse - NYs (literal) center city. The Salt City as it was formally known is a big city with some great old and new style. Again, not much about the city to say, but a great opportunity for corporate BS. The main attraction would be the Syracuse Dome (formerly the Carrier Dome). Due to its location and style, it's perfect as a central trading hub for the major cities and people. Think of Great Green Jewel style, people living, bars, shops, etc. BUT the really interesting part is what's right next to the Dome. SUNY ESF (Environmental Science and Forestry). This college is special because (A. I went there) it has very unique programs and with some future tech thrown in, could be a great location for a Fallout 3 Harold or NV vault 22-esq quest. The college already does experiments with major chemicals, evolution (FEV anyone?) and breeding plants for unique purposes. Again, I have a really cool idea for this area, but that can be a different post. Fun fact, ESF is actually working to bring back the North America Chestnut that went (nearly) extinct! Also, some asshole releases the fruit flies the genetics lab work with every year and it sucks. NYC (Empire, 9/11 memorial, Statue of Liberty) - Yeah yeah, you can't have NY without the City, but frankly there's so much here to explore and deal with, I'd leave it to the pros to really do it justice. Turning Stone Casino - Gambling, a hotel/restaurants like in NV, and a good spot for the main quest line. Fort Stanwix - A real revolutionary war fort. HQ or major area for raiders. Safe, well protected and with plenty of history. Fort Drum and Griffis Air Force Base: Two major bases that could be packed with guns, nukes, and power armor. Heavily guarded by turrets, robots, and security gates. Main Quest: Without too much detail, I figure your character will be hired to figure out the future of NY. You'll be brought to the Turning Stone which is currently the HQ of the Oneida tribe. Your job would be to either work with the other tribes in the former Iroquois Confederation (Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, Mohawk, and Tuscarora [added later]). (Quick note: in my AU, some time after the bombs fell, the IC came to power because of their knowledge of living off the land and attempted to rebuild society. After some time rebuilding and establishing a post-war society, the tribes do the thing all humans do and bicker. Around 2200 the IC broke apart but the tribes retained power in their areas. They fight, trade, yadda yadda but no one is in control of everything. Throughout your quest, it turns out that what is holding everyone back is a lack of power for things like lights and running water. Your job will be to determine where to get that power (Nuclear power plant in Oswego or the falls in Niagara?) And where to give it (one tribe? A few? Or all?). But that's not all, the tribes can't decide who should be in charge. One tribe wants to remain independent, don't help the outsiders and rebuild society in their image within NY, another wants to help others but would need to sacrifice their own people's safety and seclusion. Maybe another wants to be imperialist and expand their borders throughout America through way of force and fear while another agrees with taking land but wants it done through offers of protection for taxes. And each tribe has its own opinion on bringing the IC back together, staying separate, or taking over the tribes for themselves. It's up to you character to decide who to help. Do you work hard to try and bring all tribes together under one banner or choose a side and execute their will as a paid mercenary/ambassador? Other choices would be chaos by siding with raiders, or maybe a BOS path to take out all the tribes, idk, haven't thought it all out. Again, not a writer. Mechanics: So personally, I like the idea that if you choose to go with a single faction, there would a battle/war mechanic where you and an army (or alone if you really wanna try) take over and lay claim to areas similar to Nuka World where you fly the gangs flag. Nothing complicated, normal fallout fights, don't die and kill the leader/his troops to win. Karma is back. You will garner good or bad rep with each tribe depending on what you do. I'd like an armor system like in NV but I can live without it. There is an ending. Once you beat the game you can continue doing side quests for armor/experience/ammo but only for the tribes left in power. Occasional rebellions will rise up as random events that need to be put down. Settlements are limited. Like skyrim, but a plot and build. No need to build one everywhere and you don't even need to do it if you don't want to. Radio host? Gimme a Mr. New Vegas type guy. I don't want an eccentric 3-dog, I want a smoothed voiced person wishing me lady like luck. Also, smarter AI. Otherwise, typical FO mechanics. Weapons degrade, can upgrade weapons and armor, etc. Main problems with NY: No real borders to the south. Invisible walls would like be necessary which is stupid. Same to the East, but the Hudson could theoretically be used as a border if you put crazy strong mirelurks or something to kill the player if they tried to cross (or more invisible walls) Don't want to disrespect the tribes. This is an issue with using each tribe as a possible faction. You're bound to piss off or disrespect one. So it'll be a task to make sure it's as limited as possible. What to do with the city? It's a huge area that can be used for so much, but as a part of NY it's actually pretty seperated. It's a commercial hub now, but there's nothing there that would really be a reason to go down there. So do you make it one or do we just make it a glowing sea type area that's completely decimated from the bombs? That's my personal choice honestly, but it's a tough one to please as many as possible. Conclusion: NY is rad. I'll be taking questions as long as they do not involve Canadian trivia. Thank you. [link] [comments] |

Just bought Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas. Is there a recommended order to play them? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 01:06 AM PST I just picked up Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas off Steam for about €15 (no DLCs). I know that the main quest lines aren't connected but is there a recommendation of what order to play? [link] [comments] |
How do you reload the laser musket? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 05:00 PM PST I understand that you just crank it and it consumes ammo but how? You don't put anything into it and it doesn't even have a place to put fusion cells. Where does the ammo go? Why does the laser get brighter the more it consumes energy? Are we depositing the energy from each cell into the laser musket and it stores it until fired? What do you think? [link] [comments] |
Question about the Fallout 4 ending Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:56 AM PST Can you choose the institute ending and not blow up the Prydwen, and leave the minutemen alone? I just don't want to blow up that ship. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:35 AM PST TLDR; can't delete walls, tried different things like building from ground up and deleting around it. Nothing works. Please help. Hey fellow vault dwellers. I just finished up spending what feels like an eternity settling down in a place I built in a power cable tower next to Camp McClintock. I love my CAMP. Like, a lot and I've spent so much time on it. There's pesky half wall tiles above the building I can't delete no matter what I do. Its right at the workshop limit vertically. I can even delete everything until the roof is floating and my OCD is raging. I keep going back to try new things and nothing works. Is there a fix to this? Anything new new thing I can try? It would help a lot. [link] [comments] |
Fallout 2 quick run to have fun Posted: 28 Dec 2020 03:29 AM PST If you've beat the game a few times, you think to yourself, I really don't want to go to vault city with metal armor and a 10mm smg... well here's the fix. Start a new character. Make it a woman, and name her Buffy. Head through the temple and kick the hell out of some ants. Talk to the dude. Tell him to give you a second. Steal the key. Get out. Loot the elders hut, and your aunts hut. That nets you like 2 knives, some healing powder and 100 cash. Then tell the elder you're gonna head out... another 150ish caps(I changed it, I like saying caps more, I know they aren't caps😑) leave the village. Head to Klamath. Talk to...Beth? Chick next to Sulik. Sell the stuff you looted. Around 180 caps worth. Or however much depending on you're character. Either way you get enough. Talk to Sulik and tell him you'll have the $350 for damages. Take his leather armor he has in his inventory. Congrats you have a mule. And a level. Leave Klamath. Go to the den, first thing you want to do it talk to Rebecca in the bar. Get a grenade, a flower, a 10mm smg and 1,000caps. Go kill the merchants. Flick and Tubby. More loot. Never enough loot. After that you can just leave, or stick around and do the change of power quest for Lara. Idc. But I usually bullshit my way past the guards at the church for 700exp and another 500 for looking at the chemicals. If you don't talk to Lara, you get more exp. I usually leave. Time to go get money, guns and power armor. Make sure you save a few times for this next one. Depending if you want to keep Sulik or not(personally I like Cassidy more). Move one square to the right, and head south. Then keep going south...and then south some more, till you hit the bottom of the map. Congratulations! You've reached San Francisco, if you're lucky, in about 15 mins since you started the game. Go steal the caps off both merchants. After that you're gonna want to talk to the brotherhood dude. He's gonna tell you to go to Navarro. Say "OK!". Then guess what you're gonna want to do. Yup. Head to Navarro. Once you get about 8 squares away, you're really going to want to save often, like ever half a square. And get ready to press F7 the second you hit an encounter, because there's a 100% chance of death waiting for you on the map. Once you make it past the labyrinth of enclave patrols, tell the dude you're there to join the enclave. Does he say cool, follow the path and say swordfish? Or does he say bugger off? Either way, save, take your 10mm smg and burst him. If he dies, cool move on. If he doesn't reload and try again. Go down the stairs in the shack and go down the hall way. No alarms! 👍 go into the quartermasters lockers and loot them, first thing you'll want to get is the advanced power armor in the 3rd locker from right. Go up the middle elevator, takes you to a room with some computers, talk to the scientist. Ask him if you can see the vertibird plans. He says another tech has them. Ok cool. Now go to the mess hall, and go talk to the cook. Talk with him, and explore every dialogue option. Sweet! Now for the vertibird plans. Go talk to Quincy(right side of base, looks like a garage). Tell him a tech sent you to get the plans... he asks if it's Raul...say yup. After some heated words go talk to Raul(left side of base, looks like a hangar) and tell him Quincy wants to see him. Sure you'll watch his stuff. Loot it all...then follow him over to Quincy. And loot everything there too. At this point you can either leave, or go get the fob from the commander. If you decide to get the fob now, make sure you have a decently high speech(60-80ish) and save before talking to the grunt at the door to the commanders office. Tell him you're here to take the fob for security reasons. If he asks for your papers, reload. If he says ok go in. Go in and get the fob then leave. Head back to SF, using the same tactic of save and walk and save. Turn in the vertibird plans to the brotherhood, then the shi. Make sure you steal from the merchants. Before using that charisma module. Because their stock refreshes. Ok. You're done with SF for now. Hopefully you have a better weapon than the 10mm SMG now or wait and steal a Bozar. Head east. To the other side of the map. Till you hit NCR. Go inside and talk to the cop standing on the street corner, saying your looking for a job. Follow the president route of the conversation, and you'll find out they are hiring just about anyone. Go to the presidents area and talk to Gunter, then the aid and then president Tandy. Pretty much whatever you say gets you the job. Now leave. And head east some more till you get to vault 15. Talk to Rebecca. Then go save Chrissy. And either talk your way past or blast your way past all the Khans. Get your computer parts and the location of vault 13. Then dip out. Head to vault 13. Tell Gunther that yeah you'll help out and fix it. Go to level 3 and go find your holy GECK in one of the lockers. Congrats you're done. At this point you no longer have to hear voices in your head and don't have a time limit anymore. Go do you. Be you. Wether it be a mass murder of every inhabitant of California, or savior of the oppressed. Either way, good luck!👍 [link] [comments] |
Why Lake City, Iowa could be the best Fallout location yet! Posted: 27 Dec 2020 07:14 PM PST I'm sure every fallout fan is looking forward to the next game no matter how far in the future. With a new game comes a new setting. I've been thinking about it a lot lately and I have had some good ideas. It may sound boring at first but let me explain why Lake City could be the best setting for Fallout to date. New weapons Iowa as you may or may not know has a lot of agricultural land. This means there could be some makeshift weapons like FO4 as well as plenty of other guns scavenged from farms. You could even melee weapons like pitchforks or scythes. With all the farm equipment and manufacturing warehouses there could be some unique makeshift weapons. BOS To that point the brotherhood has scavenged much of the large machinery and factories for their arsenal. Their power armor and vehicles would have a distinct prewar mechanical look. Better Combat With all the open land and corn fields there could be some truly epic battles. I hate getting stuck in a concrete maze of endless buildings. Out in the flat Iowa countryside you don't have to deal with pesky terrain and best of all there is no cover for your enemies to hide behind. Corn Last and not least is something that would mainly help hardcore survival players and that is corn. After the bombs fell corn was one of the first things to get replanted and it spread quickly. A lot of it is radioactive but there is an abundant source of food across the map. You could cook it several different ways at a campfire and it would play an integral role in the main storyline. TLDR; Just poking fun at all the "Next Fallout should be set in ____" posts. I have nothing against people brainstorming ideas and it's all harmless fun [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Dec 2020 04:59 PM PST Fallout 76 gets a lot of hate. And it's also caused a divide in the community, somehow worse than Obsidian or Bethesda. And almost all hate for 76 is right - and it's also wrong. The hate itself is wrong for two reasons: the target of the hate (Bethesda) and the hypocrisy. On the topic of the hate being misguided, pointing at Bethesda and attacking the company, let's get something straight, Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) is under Zenimax, Bethesda's parent company. Much like a manager, Bethesda is simply the worker. Almost every complaint about 76 is Zenimax's fault. It was rushed. The canvas bags weren't canvas. Nuka Dark was cheap and had a horrible mold. Etc. Bethesda's the face of Fallout, so it's easy to mistake Zenimax's actions as Bethesda's. In fact it's a good thing for Zenimax. A worker who gives a half-cooked pizza because their boss said so isn't their fault, this analogy applies to 76 and Bethesda as well. Secondly, the hypocrisy of the hate is insane. New Vegas at launch was a horrid, bug-ridden mess of a game that could barely be played at all and still almost can't be without mods. But New Vegas, despite all its flaws, is good. And loved by all. I don't get how people (and it usually is New Vegas fans) can say they love a game that to this day is still almost unplayable and look at 76 and only focus on its launch. The launch of 76 was buggy, yes. There's no denying that. And it was buggy for two main reasons: Zenimax rushing Bethesda and Bethesda themselves never making an online game before. This doesn't mean Bethesda trying something new is bad. In fact it's a very good thing in companies. As of now, 76 is well polished, and far better than New Vegas in terms of bug free. Of course no game is bug free, especially open world games and much less open world online games. Now onto another point, something I personally find odd given the circumstances. I hate online games. The only ones I play is GTA Online with friends and 76. And I noticed both before 76 even launched and after, to this day, people claim no one wanted a Fallout Online. That's just false. Sure, you may not have. But let us not forget how Interplay/Black Isles was working on a Fallout Online back in 2005~. Or how there is a fanmade Fallout Online using Fallout 2. People have always wanted one, and now they have one. Yet somehow they all disappeared when 76 got announced. Lastly, many refer to the lore of 76. People say it's full of retcons, etc. Truth ia it's far from it. At least using the term "retcon" to mean "lore changing/breaking". 76 hasn't broken any lore, as the project director is a huge fan of Fallout, and has played the first 2. But Bethesda, Todd Howard specifically, are also fans of Fallout. And none of their games have ever actually changed lore. They've only added, which may seem like it changes lore but it doesn't. Fallout 2 adding lore wasn't seen as a retconn. And New Vegas despite having actual retcons added new stuff that wasn't retconning lore. People who generally say 76 changes lore look at YouTubers like TKMantis who can't even tell lore if it hits him in his face and shoots him in the leg, others just never played the game. There are some things 76 lore makes freaky, such as Vertibots, but that's still not a retcon. It's just a weird attachment to lore much like a talking mole rat and intelligent deathclaws were in Fallout 2. [link] [comments] |

New Vegas: Faction Destruction point of no return? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:18 PM PST So, this playthrough of NV, I'm trying something new. Destroying factions I disagree with. I started with the Boomers. I did a few quests for em, then killed them all and sold all their shit. Very satisfying. I get the quest update to go mention I killed the boomer's leadership to YOU KNOW WHO. All seems well. I decided to do the same thing with the White Glove Society, after finishing their questlines. But it didn't seem to work. I killed every White Glove in the place, but no change in YOU KNOW WHO'S dialogue indicating a change in status quo. A bit more googling revealed I had to kill "everyone" in the casino. So I go "Really? Even the gamblers, travelers, and so on? Okay...seems excessive, but fine." So I have this singularily creepy experience of walking through the casino, murdering every NPC I see, and...they don't react beyond a single shared vocal cue: "Uhng." Like they're BORED. They don't run or react to murders happening right in front of them. I merc everyone in the whole place, it's a literal ghost town. Still no change from AHEM YOU KNOW WHO'S dialogue. So I guess it's impossible to wipe out a faction if you've finished their questline? [link] [comments] |
Haven’t played Fallout since Fallout 3, can I get some advice on what I want to achieve? Posted: 28 Dec 2020 01:34 AM PST Just got the GOTY edition for a great deal and I'm really excited to play fallout again, had a great time with 3. I want to make a power Armor build that uses energy weapons and heavy weapons. How should I distributed my special? I believe I had 5 strength 4 perception 3 Endurance 5 charisma 9 intellect 1 agility 1 luck Is that good or how would you change it for a new run? What perks should I avoid? To get my character going should I do any DLC first? Any suggestions for getting some good ammo and supplies? I also could never find circuitry or aluminum etc [link] [comments] |

Why didn't Bethesda call the Sympto-Matic an Auto-Doc? Posted: 27 Dec 2020 10:20 AM PST They're functionally the same thing, right? And as far as I can tell it's called an Autodoc in the files. Bethesda has never made reference to them in their games before. [link] [comments] |
