How does boiling water make irradiated water safe?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 10:31 AM PST

Boiling non-bottled water is a good way to kill any bacteria, however I don't know about radiation. In Fallout 1 Tycho says not to drink any water in the wild thats clear because no bacteria would live in irradiated water, so if you're not cleaning bacteria when boiling irradiated water then what exactly are you doing? Because if boiling irradiated water makes it safe then why doesn't the Capital Wasteland just do that?

Why do power armor frames become impossible to retrieve once their user dies?

How badly were the East Coast BoS doing prior to Maxson's ascension?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 05:21 AM PST

Talking to the various NPCs in the Prydwen or BoS patrols in marked locations reveal that the BoS were experiencing hard times prior to Elder Maxson. In Lancer Captain Kell's opinion, the BoS were a small, insignificant group before his rise to leadership. I thought it was the opposite.

The BoS in FO3 were powerful, they were protecting the project purity scientist, the had the Pentagon as their mother base, they took over Adams Airforce Base, which game them virtibirds. They had a monopoly on power armor after the Enclave was wiped out, and they were gaining a trickle of recruits so their numbers would have been at least stable. They even had sentry bots.

Are we supposed to imagine that Elder Lyons really was wasting people in a misguided attempt to police capital wasteland? Isn't that what Elder Maxson is already doing be sending BoS patrols to protect caravan routes? What about their quest to clear out hostile mutants?

Black Magic Practiced in Sierra Madre?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 07:49 AM PST

Greetings! I just finished my first walkthrough of the Sierra Madre. While completing one of the quests I went through a room in one of villas that had what appeared to be an altar with a skeleton surrounded by black candles.

I skimmed through google and YouTube to see if there was any back story on it. I wish I could remember what part of the villas the room was located.

Anyone have any lore on it or was I imagining things?

Was vaulttec only operable in the U.S or did they make any vaults outside the country?

(Spoilers for those who haven't played Nuka World) Why couldn't JC just put his brain in a Robobrain?

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 07:15 PM PST

With all the Military Connections John Caleb-Bradberton has and possible wealthy friends, he should have at least heard of the Robobrain Program. Rather than just stare at a wall for 200 years, he could have been mobile and perhaps rule Post-War Nuka World, similarly to Mr. House and New Vegas. The Wealthy People of Vault 118 had put their brains in Robobrains, so I don't get why John Caled-Bradberton couldn't do it to his own.

    Contents of flamer fuel

    Posted: 11 Nov 2020 03:32 AM PST

What exactly is flamer fuel supposed to be made of? In the wiki entry for NV it is described as "A mixture of petro-chemicals and other flammable compounds for use in specialty flamethrowers.") But wasn't basically oil gone after the resource wars? How are they common in the wasteland?
