Haven’t gotten dressed yet, but I’ll be wearing the same thing I wore to Bakersfield Comic-Con last year. Maybe with the Mandalorian helmet though. Actually I’ll let you guys decide on that.

    mods are making me emotional

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 01:35 AM PDT

    1. come across mars the mute and his dogs, Deimos and Phobos. get excited at how cute they are, take pictures, then watch as they get brutally murdered by fiends. tear up. make a grave where I drop off food or drinks whenever I'm in the area.
    2. find a cute dog named guts, he helps me kill a bunch of fiends, out of curiosity I follow him back to the corpse of his dead owner with a note saying to take guts.
    3. Go through a bunch of quests for Randall, start to love hearing his stories after I get back. find out he died and I have no idea where his grave is at, tear up and kill fuckers and take on his thirst for revenge against Marko.
    4. become a courier once again in the inheritance, meet this boss old dude and actually walk across the entirety of the Mojave instead of fast traveling to get to Bradley, go on a quest spanning the Mojave to search for his birthright treasure his dad left him. go through tons of enclave vaults. work for half an hour to get him through one due to a bug. just to have it all torn away from him by the syndicate. I'm torn, empty, and sad as I leave his corpse behind and get his gold back which then a buncha people start asking for the money from the gold bars which I HAVEN'T EVEN sOLD AS TO RESPECT BRADLEY IN HIS DEATH.

I've made sure to drop off goods at the three known death places of the people here as to respect them whenever I'm in the area. how is it that free mods are making me F E E L?

    Thoughts on Dead Money

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 10:30 PM PDT

I just played it for the first time. For awhile I hated it so much. The streets where an unnecessary maze of frustration, the atmosphere and enemies just the same. Then I got in the casino. The stealth, the betrayals and fighting my own greed at the end turned that whole story around and it was fantastically done.

    Caesar’s Legion

    Posted: 30 Oct 2020 06:51 PM PDT

Note: I studied late antiquity and economics as an undergraduate, and I hate 'Rome Weebs' who go on and on about how great Rome was without understanding it so this is where I'm coming from.

I started playing NV about a month ago and wanted to post something about my favorite thing about it lore wise: Caesar's Legion being the best representation of 'Rome' I've seen in a RPG. By that I mean 'Rome' reskins/derivations of the motif.

Caesar's Legion really shows what Rome was, many people will talk about Rome in hushed tones, a great civilization that was advanced etc. But Rome was actually a brutal, terrible place to live. Most people were enslaved, most people didn't want to be part of the empire. Caesar's Legion really captures the spirit of that. For all it's talk of 'order' and 'civilization' the legion is about enslaving as many people as possible to benefit a small, select few. Ie Caesar using an auto doc while forbidding painkillers. It's not just narcissism, the whole society is designed around him and his desires so it's not even hypocritical, it's simply that only he matters. Any advancement is designed for his benefit, the rest of the legion can die as long as he gets what he wants.

Essentially, I'm happy the legion isn't just a reskin of some 19th century British historian talking about how great the whole thing was. It really shows the brutality of the Empire. They also pronounce Latin correctly!

Have you got some advice for old world blues?

    Posted: 31 Oct 2020 01:36 AM PDT

It's my first playthrough, and I'm playing the DLCs. I enjoyed Honest Hearts a lot, Graham was a great character and I loved the tribal setting.

Then I started Old World Blues, and so far I'm a bit disappointed. At the start the conversation with the robot scientists is so long, they tell you a lot of stuff to process all at once, and the fact that they talk all over each other doesn't help to make things clear.

Doing the actual quests, I couldn't say why I was doing this or that. I know I have to retrieve some gear for them, like the stealth suit, and the test made sense. But then I had to do the test in the school with the roaming nightstalkers like 3 or 4 times and I couldn't understand why. Also I can't tell the main quest from the secondary ones.

Was it my fault? Did I skip something to help me clarify all of this? Did I have to pay more attention to the dialogues?

Also I know I'm still halfway through but I wanted to ask this now cause there's no point once finished on autopilot. And I see Old World Blues is very appreciated on here so I thought I'm doing something wrong. Thanks
