Why couldn't the Enclave just brute force the code for Project Purity

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 03:38 PM PDT

I don't see why the Enclave couldn't just brute force the code for Project Purity in Fallout 3. I mean, its only a 3 digit code. A quick google search says it would take at most 20-30 minutes to try every possible combination. And while the immense amount of radiation is an issue, they could just use robots, or hell, even random wasteland slaves if robots aren't an option. Why go through the effort of kidnapping and keeping alive the Lone Wanderer, an immensely dangerous individual when all you need to do is grab a Mister Handy and let it press buttons for 20 minutes until it works

Why are there no Brahmin-drawn wagons?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 05:15 AM PDT

Like I get pack Brahmin, but most of the wasteland hasn't found an alternative? Most of the cars are inoperable, and very few have access to vehicles. Why can't they just build carts? Surely it's better than walking.

How did China counter power armor?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 08:54 PM PDT

The first appearance of power armor happened in around 2067. By the end of the war in 2077, did China have any counters to power armor(The T-51)?

What happened in January 2078 in Zion that lowered the radiation level?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 03:14 AM PDT

In Randall Clark's journal, specifically Year: 2078, he mentions there seemed to be a windstorm outside the cave between the 8th and 10th of January, after which the outside radiation levels went down. I'm wondering if this is as simple as wind blowing the fallout away or if this was a bigger event that might've been continent-wide similar to the black rain. He also mentions green-glowing snow on the 15th. Is there any other lore about the first few months after the war that sheds light on any of this?

    Who launched the bombs first

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 10:39 PM PDT

I've heard vault tec, China and even aliens. Most likely it looks like China did cause that makes the most sense but I'm curious if there's a definitive answer?

Do we have any S.P.E.C.I.A.L feats of strength?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 01:58 AM PDT

Like does 10 strength mean a wastelander that could kick anyones ass or is it like being able to arm wrestle supermutants?

10 intelligence: Smart wastelander approaching on pre-war levels of intelligence or the next Einstein?

Endurance: Man with a more resilient body or a terminator?

You see what I mean, do we have any feats of strength in lore as to what the SPECIAL stats really mean?

How powerful was the Appalachian Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 09:38 AM PDT

It looks like they had bases in the Cranberry bog and they even had a training camp at camp venture.

I'm also wondering if they had access to military vehicles other then Vertibirds.

Why is there no mention of the Midwest in fallout?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 06:39 AM PDT

When the bombs dropped, they were only dropped in the west and east to my understanding. Why is there no mention by the Brotherhood of Steel (since they sent a contingent to the east to secure the capitol and pentagon) of the mid west? Is the American government still there?

Can Aqua Pura infected with the FEV be boiled for safe consumption?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 11:27 AM PDT

I've been discussing this with a friend in preparation for a game set in New York two years after the end of Fallout 3, with the Lone Wanderer having destroyed the Citadel and poisoned the water with the FEV. One of the key story points is a mass exodus from the Capitol Wasteland as a result of the water being poisoned, but this question was raised: as FEV is a virus, wouldn't just boiling the Aqua Pura being enough to ensure that it's safe to drink?

It could potentially even be better for the population of the Capitol Wasteland, as it would likely kill off most of the mutants while allowing the more developed communities access to radiation-free water.

TLDR: Can you make poisoned Aqua Pura safe by boiling it?

Where should i begin to learn the lore?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 10:36 AM PDT

I played FNV/FO4 both for +-80 hours and then FO3 for 10 hours. I still dont know basically nothing. I started a new FNV playthrough where i focus on dialogue and terminal entries. I have fallout 1 on steam but i am not really into the combat

Is there a lore reason for lack of seasons in game?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 03:15 AM PDT

I want to get a seasons mod for fo4, but I don't want anything lore breaking if there is a legitimate reason lore wise for lack of seasons.

They can get a vertibird to work but not a car?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 10:24 AM PDT

We have seen quite a few vertibirds working. Both BoS and NCR have used them and they didn't have hangars of them like the Enclave. They got them working after years of them being in the ground but they have never fixed a car?

I would guess a car isnt as practical because many roads arent drivable, but a dune buggy, a bike or a tank could be helpful. It would provide a means of quick transport or military weaponry in cases you dont want to put your vertibird in jeopardy, since that one is more valuable.
