Could you figure out if synths are actually conscious by using memories? Posted: 24 Oct 2020 11:47 AM PDT I'm not knowledgeable on the lore of the Fallout games by any means, but i've been playing Fallout 4 recently and the question of if synths are conscious or not seems to have an, if not easy, possible answer. I haven't finished playing but I don't mind spoilers so tell me if I'm wrong - but Nick Valentine was a synth that had memories put into his hardware, and yet he has dialogue where he talks about Nick Valentine as a separate person, about how he was a 'good guy'. I was thinking that if you really wanted to see if synths are conscious beings or not you could really put the same memories in two different synths, put them in the same situations, and see if they respond differently. It would be like an experiment... but it would give a clear answer. Also, if this is really wrong and dumb or if they just tell you if synths are alive or not in the game later on, please tell me because I completely understand ... I know little about the lore I just had an interesting idea haha. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 24 Oct 2020 02:08 PM PDT I may have missed it in the DLC, but did it ever say why I-15 up to New Canaan isn't a viable route? [link] [comments] |
What are the wasteland's legitimate reasons NOT to join the NCR Posted: 24 Oct 2020 08:41 PM PDT NCR is the biggest governing authority out there. Good guys. Complete and functioning democratic body. They protect their territory. Set trade routes. Give housing to poor people. Generate jobs, agriculture, provide food for its citizens. It's not perfect, just like any government, but you can see and feel their efforts. As far as I have listened to dialogues, the only reason why people don't join NCR, is because they want independence, and somehow hate how they "take everything away" from you. But here's the thing, those people are either assholes, greedy businessmen, or originated from raider groups, and you can see how hard they struggle in the wasteland, especially on protection.
