Is there a geopolitical landscape of the settlements the minute men control?

Whenever I build settlements in Fallout 4, I always gave each one a purpose based on where it was located. For instance, Nordhagen Beach, the settlement near the airport, sits on a beach. It was have stronger winds that come up from the ocean. So I powered the settlements with wind-turbine generators. More wind, more power. I would build different stores in each Settlement, and factor that in when building a trade network.

The Minutemen aren't very political in nature, but I have to believe each settlement has different wants and needs. The Starlight Drive is, tactically speaking, a hub center for trade since it is close to nine other settlements. Does this type of stuff give settlements (who I believe have representatives in the Minutemen supported government) special power over other settlements? Does settlements make trade deals with each other? The whole settlement system is pretty steeped in economic and diplomatic relations given some places have a resource advantage over others. It is hard to say how each settlement could benefit, but Vault 88 may contain purer food and water. Or they are shut out because they keep to themselves.

What do we know about politics in the Minutemen?
