Is New Vegas worth trying in 2020?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:30 PM PDT

Hi everyone. My first ever Fallout game was FO4, and I think that I mostly liked it. The gameplay was nice, but I felt that the RPG elements were simplified to appeal to a wider audience. Reading the Fallout-related communities, I see NV being mentioned very often as one of, if not the best 3D Fallout games. So, I wanted to try it to see if I like it. However, what's holding me back is that the gameplay footage I've seen doesn't look great. I'm not the kind of person to complain about how games look, I've completed games that are much older than that, but the videos and screenshots just look so.. unappealing. The game has this weird dark yellow tint to it, and everything just looks super washed out and barren.

My question is: is the gameplay and story of NV so amazing and stellar that it negates its looks? Or am I here too late at this point?

Fallout 4 is the best game I’ve ever played, level 270 and making the game crash every hour or so but still grinding.

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:30 PM PDT

I've caused so many bugs in the game just from playing for so long it's ridiculous and I don't even know how to fix most of them, if I even can. Never less I have no regrets putting all these hours into the game, very enjoyable and entertaining if you actually put a bit of effort in and look for stuff instead of whine about not drinking from toilet bowls.

Heads up: Bethesda extended the deadline to get a free steam copy of F76 until April 28th

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 03:31 PM PDT

Before Wastelanders came out Bethesda was giving a free copy of Fallout 76 on steam to anyone who already owned the game, as long as they linked their Bethesda account with their steam account before April 14th. They have extended this until April 28th. I can't seem to find an announcement about it, it was just updated on the original announcement Here and on the Bethesda Linked Accounts page. Also I found buried in customer support pages they say it will appear in steam by the end of April if you signed up after April 14th.

If your considering purchasing or re-downloading Fallout 76, do not bother with cleanprincegaming’s video.

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:06 PM PDT

He claimed that the footage he was using was footage taken during Wastelanders and complained how it was still a buggy mess. The problem lyes when you realize that he is using footage from 6 months ago during the Meat Week event. This post describes it in greater detail.

Edit: He has since removed the video and said the editor made a mistake.

Was going through some Wastelanders holotapes and I found this little nod.

Is there a Fallout red star reference/ Easter egg in any of the games?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:34 AM PDT

Exactly what the title says is the fan made fallout red star mentioned in any of the games I know nuka-breaker was mentioned in fallout NV via the gun runners dlc as a weapon but I've not heard of red stars mentioning does Bethesda/ obsidian even acknowledge its existence?

What government would you create in the Wasteland?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 09:58 PM PDT

NCR chose a congressional republic, Caesar chose theocratic dictatorship, BoS chose an isolationist military hierarchy, the Enclave chose a eugenics-obsessed imperial aristocracy. What would you choose?

What's the Bethesda policy regarding using VPN whilst playing. Thanks

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 03:13 AM PDT

Hi guys just wanted to check what the rules are regarding the use of VPN whilst playing. I've just reactivated my VPN and don't want to be disconnecting all the time but don't want to break any rules. Thanks

    Considering trying Fallout 4 again.

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:55 AM PDT

    Hi,

I played Fallout 4 when it came out on my PS4. I don't have a PS4 anymore, but upgraded my PC a few months ago. I might buy a complete edition and go through it for the story. When I played I really just played around the gameplay and make different builds. Now I really want just one playthrough on the highest difficulty and then pay attention to the story and side stories.

But which build or route? I remember needing certain items for certain builds where I had to like speedrun to certain areas just to get a weapon. I want none of that. I want a build that works very well on max difficulty and can just play without needed special stuff.

    Any ideas or general tips?

    Thanks!

It was due to Fallout 2 that I discovered what a 'fluffer' was.

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 08:09 AM PDT

There's me, 19 years old and jumping into the new Fallout game, when I run across the Golden Globes porn studio. Of course, being 19, I immediately sign on to be a porn star.

Imagine my shock when, due to a Charisma of 2, I'm relegated to the job of fluffer. I didn't even know what a fluffer was, but it didn't take me long to figure it out. Even caught a disease from my occupation. Fun times!

What type of cure would the Jacobstown Nightkin cure be?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:52 AM PDT

Hey guys, this post contains spoilers for New Vegas and other games, so for those who've just got into the game, I suggest not reading this.

So in Jacobstown, if you pass the Speech and/or the Science checks, the ending shows that the cure for the Nightkin schizophrenia has been found and Jacobstown becomes a safe haven for mutants, so there's one question I wanted to know. What type of cure would the cure actually be? Would it be a serum like Virgil used in Fallout 4? Would it be a modified FEV? Or could it be like, some sort of radio transmission that could alter the Nightkin's brain to get rid of the schizophrenia?

This is my first post in the sub-Reddit, and I included the Spoiler tag just in case, so if I do make any mistakes, please let me know, thank you.

What are some weapons that you want to come back or be added in the next Fallout game?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:41 AM PDT

Now, I'm gonna preface this with my opinion that non-VATS/sneak critical hits should come back to make different weapons more unique. Now, on to the actual weapons.

    I want:

    Winchester Model 1897 (Trench Gun)

    H&K G11 (Kraut Space Magic)

    H&K P90

AR platform (Service/Marksman Rifle and Assault Carbine)

M72 Gauss Rifle (not the busted-ass shit from 4)

    M3A1 SMG (Grease Gun)

    PPK12 Gauss Pistol (whynot)

Basically, these are all weapons that do exist in the Fallout universe and I'd like to see them in the next game. How about you? What are some weapons you'd like to see?

Are there Fallout (2) mods that reduce randomness? Is it even theoretically possible?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 05:33 AM PDT

I highly dislike randomness in games to the point where the excess of it is a deal-breaker. I cannot bring myself to play older RPG titles because dice rolls drive me mad as I can't predict the outcome of my actions and I can't reliably plan anything.

I absolutely enjoyed New Vegas for the openness of the world and the freedom of choices that you have, and I've heard that Fallout 2 has that on an even bigger scale. However, I can't stand the fight system of the latter (it made me quit 2 hours in). Is it possible to make it less random and more reliable?

Is fallout 76 worth it for Wastelanders

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 01:24 PM PDT

As in is it like the other games and can you play by yourself doing these quests and stuff. Though am I wrong in thinking you can't play offline?

Fallout 4 player about to start Fallout NV, what can I expect?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 04:41 AM PDT

So I've played a crap load of fallout 4, somthing around 1000hrs and I always see people say the NV was the best fallout of them all, so I've decided to pick it up.

What are the main gameplay/mechanic differences I should be prepared for?

To all the new players of 76: you can fast travel in interiors now!

    Posted: 16 Apr 2020 05:22 AM PDT

Also, you can fast travel even when "there are enemies nearby".

    Bow sights bugged?

    Posted: 17 Apr 2020 12:08 AM PDT

I got the glowsights for my (normal) bow and instead of, you know, looking through them my character just puts them to the side and uses the crosshairs
