If America was at war with China how could the shi still exist?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 08:46 PM PST

we all know that the US was at war with China. we also know that anti-Chinese propaganda was everywhere. it was also admitted in a fallout 4 quest that many people of Chinese ancestry hid from the government ann frank style. to not be put into detention camps like the Japanese during ww2. and that Americans destroyed many buildings and Chinatowns all across America when the war broke out. so how can the shi (a group of Chinese people still be living in the remains of the San Francisco Chinatown? I think that they said that they came from a ship or submarine from mainland china if I remember correctly. but that raises even more questions.

    1. like how could a population maintain its self? even now and especially in the 1950s war was a thing for men. even in communist nations like the USSR they only used women in the front line or in the actual military because they needed every one possible to defeat the nazis. a bunch of male Chinese can't create a functioning society after 1 generation.

2)how could they have so much Chinese culture and traditions? in fallout 2 we see kung fu fights and traditional Chinese things that the shi still hold onto. the Chinese communists hated the old order. the old ways and instead of using tradition and communism together like the USSR. china destroyed their history literally in the cultural revolution. like destroying statues and buildings thousands of years old. So 2077 not to much would be left to remember. not to mention that under Maoism indoctrination and loyalty was everything. because this is the fallout universe everything from the '50s continued so that would still be heavily enforced.

    3) why does the shi have an emperor? the main thing about the communists in the '50s and most extremely in china was the indescribable hatred for emperors. they had overthrown there own emperor in a great revolution. Then all of the warlords that carved up china called themselves emperors. AND THEN the Japanese invade and RAPE, PILLAGE, AND KILL TENS OF MILLIONS OF PEOPLE in the name of their EMPEROR. If you don't believe me on how horrible they were just search up the rape of Nanjing. I mean I know that the populace was anger at there governments but how can a bunch of indoctrinated Chinese communists. who have been told there entire lives that emperors are devils have an emperor as there leader.

please explain. any feedback will help immensely.

If nuclear energy is so prevalent and more developed than in our time line, then why does the US need oil? Wouldn't they have had decades to convert to nuclear energy?

Is East Coast power armour different?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 01:05 AM PST

Is there a lore related reason why the power armour in fo4 requires a frame and uses fusion cores? Is there some difference in the suit itself or is this purely a retcon?

How is the next Elder decided (for the Brotherhood of Steel, both West Coast and Maxson's BOS)? Also, do Elders ever retire, or do they serve until death? I was wondering particularly about who is going to be elder after Elder Maxson from Fallout 4.

How is it possible for certain companions to understand Takahashi at Power Noodles?

    Posted: 16 Feb 2020 08:51 PM PST

I suppose the human companions that can understand him would be able to pick up on stuff after meeting him hundreds of times. But then, Codsworth is able to understand him while Curie is not. Is there any explanation for this at all or is it just some gag?
