Why do so many pre-war buildings seem mostly intact? Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:29 AM PST 210 years is a very, very, long time, especially considering manmade structures with no maintenance. If you showed most people pictures with no other context they would estimate a few years to a few decades of being abandoned. Logically speaking by 210 years most buildings should have deteriorated and collapsed. Most urban centers would be unrecognizable. So my question is: why is everything still standing? The mojave is somewhat understandable being a desert and with House. DC and Boston were built near rivers or on swampland, the moist environments of which eat manmade structures for breakfast. Were Pip-Boys commercially available for purchase before the war? Posted: 28 Jan 2020 09:56 PM PST I don't necessarily mean full on pre-war Robco stores that would sell P-Bs, but more specifically were they used to sell vaults to the common person? They are an incredibly advanced piece of tech for the pre-war fallout world and could probably be used as extremely persuasive sales pitches for Vault-Tec reps trying to book people into spaces. Did average civilians even know about them? I imagine there may have even been sales floor models of the different versions at the Vault-Tec corporate offices in various locations just as car and tech companies show off latest models in similar fashions. Some features lead us to believe the would be commercialized pre-war, like the ability to play holotape games on the most advanced, newest models. So what do you guys think, were P-Bs sold pre-war? Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:42 PM PST I've looked at the pipboy, and aside from gameplay, I cannot think to as why someone would actually buy one. I mean it's practically just a health monitor radio. I don't see why a a civilian would be interested. I know they can also unlock vaults and play video games, but thanks to hyper inflation, would someone pay such a large amount of money for a glorified terminal? For bragging rights? I do not know. How do the people of the Capital Wasteland sustain themselves? Posted: 28 Jan 2020 01:58 PM PST There doesn't seem to be any form of farming or even hunting done by any of the settlements. Where do they get the food needed to survive? [link] [comments] |
