One of the saddest moments of my life was Amata kicking me out of vault 101

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:23 AM PDT

Some backstory. Fallout 3 came out when I was pretty young and I got it around 10 or 11 but never had time to play it a lot. Then my mom died of cancer when I was 12 and I started to play fallout 3 pretty religiously. I remember a few days after my mom dying I encountered the scene where you return to the vault. SPOILER: Eventually after saving the entire vault amata kicks you out for having changed too much in the wasteland. I encountered this scene less than a week after my mom died and my family was very concerned for me because I was doing things like breaking chairs and windows and not crying about my mom being dead at all. Somehow when this scene came up and amata says you saved us but you have to go cause you've changed... years of pent up pain rose to the surface and I started crying for hours. Later you can save(or watch the death of) amata from the enclave in a random encounter where she can be found outside the vault. I remember saving her a few months later in that random encounter and it was like turning the corner that things would be ok.

What location in Fallout scares you the most?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 10:00 PM PDT

For me it's a tie between the super duper mart in fallout 3 and the dunwich building in fallout 3.

I evicted amata from valut 101

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:47 AM PDT

I knocked her unconcious and dragged her out of the fault so it closed behind the both of us. It was tricky especially because for some reason once npcs hit the threshold of the vault they magically regenerate all of their health so I had to keep her close enough to the vault door to drag her far enough to trigger its closing whilst also keeping her from actually touching the threshold. But I did it. She is trapped in the tunnel and in the tunnel she shall remain.

Sole Survivor probably knew who Elvis was

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 06:17 AM PDT

So hypothetically, say the Sole Survivor traveled to New Vegas for whatever reason. And lets assume that one of the endings where the Kings survive the end of the game. I think it would be pretty bizarre to the Sole Survivor that there was an entire faction dedicated to a musician that died 100 years before the bombs fell. Imagine how absolutely astonished the Kings would be to discover the name of "The King" himself and to discover that people didn't worship him, they just impersonated him for Weddings, Parties, etc as a job because he was popular.

I'm not even sure why this thought popped in my head, but I just thought it was kind of funny considering that prewar survivors present in the Mojave (especially House) just kinda let them think he was some diety-like being.

Has anybody else totally ditched fast traveling? I find that when I start to fast travel is when I begin to get detached from the game. I find myself more immersed when I explore the map on foot and search for new trails or areas I may have missed. Anybody else started doing this?

Not that anyone would do it but... technically, is it possible to mod Fallout 4 sooo much that it becomes Skyrim?

What would you want to see in the next fallout game?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:50 AM PDT

I've seen a lot of posts recently about "I want it in this location", or "I don't want to see super mutants/brotherhood of steel", or people saying "I do want to see building/don't want to see building"

Thought it would be fun to ask everyone what they'd see in the next game, pertaining to game design, gameplay, story, quests design, location, enemies in thr game etc.

Why don't we have any news on the Amazon adaptation of fallout?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 04:39 AM PDT

Well like the title asks, we haven't got any news on production, team, casting, shooting places, schedule etc, since they announced working on it.

I understand it takes a while to get things moving but it seems they announced and nothing at all since.

Would the NCR allow the Intelligent Deahclaws to join them?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 02:23 PM PDT

Everyone knows the Vault 13 Deathclaws are killed by Frank Horrigan, but there was a Ending where you save them, but it's bugged and can be restored via a mod. Anyway, if the Intelligent Deathclaws survived and thrived, would they have been allowed to join the NCR? I imagine they would have a Human Ambassador to convince the NCR to let them join. Afterwards, they could teach the Deathclaws more words to increase their vocabulary and perhaps they could join their military. Could you imagine how frightening a NCR Deathclaw Ranger would be? Ideally, they could only appear during the Second Battle of Hoover Dam or at very important Military Installations.

An atmosphere from a Fallout mod I was trying to make years ago

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 07:55 PM PDT

I was browsing through my old videos and stumbled over this. I have been working on a Total conversion mod in the Fonline engine that was supposed to play in the Chicago area shortly after the war.

Sadly it never came completed. But alas, I thought I share that ambience with you.

who is your favourite character throughout the entire Fallout series? Mines muggy

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 04:11 AM PDT

Hands down, without a doubt, Muggy. Or Ulysses. No definitely muggy. He's a more in depth fleshed out character with more lore behind him and i enjoy his incredibly articulate and philosophical outlooks on life.

Ideas for a Fallout style d&d campaign set in The Gulf Commonwealth?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 11:18 PM PDT

I've started writing a Fallout themed campaign for some friends that takes place in The Gulf Commonwealth (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida). I wanted to know if anyone had suggestions for locations that should be highlighted or some story elements. There's pretty much no lore for the area and I'm having the issue of too much creative freedom.

Your perfect team of Fallout companions... with a twist

    Posted: 04 Aug 2021 02:57 AM PDT

Let's say you have a team of up to ten companions from any part of the game (and DLCs) to assemble and hit the Wastes.

    • No specific place, no plan, no main quest is assumed - it's just you and the Wasteland of scorched Earth.
    • No special rules apply aside of the limit & the fact that Dogmeant counts as one companion in spite of being in a few different games.
    • If the companions disliked each other guts, or preferred very different approach to life, death & decency doesn't matter - they somehow find the way to work together.
    • If they joined even for a moment, they are companions.

...and now for the mentioned earlier twist : you're free to have one character outside of the franchise to join the 10 you selected, thus forming A Dirty Dozen of Wastes (including you, of course).

    • It might be real or fictional character, dead or alive
    • All within the context of "balance" - no superheroes, gods, no wizards - noone that'd break the game's setting or make the "gameplay" too easy. So, Geralt the Witcher is ok, Simo Häyhä is acceptable, so is Predator - their skills are definitely great, but wouldn't be enough to break the game. They could still die easy and would have plenty of trouble in many instances. At the same time Optimus Prime or some other transformers wouldn't work - they would dominate the field of battle.

If you want to, you can explain why the choice of the character, but a simple list is going to be ok.

In my case it would be:

    • Dogmeat - because it's not a Fallout for me without the bestest of boys.
    • Sulik (FO2) - you simply don't say "no" to the guy who wears bone of his dead relative in his nose and talks to him, at times.
    • Babs (FO:T) - although there's virtually no interaction between her and the rest of the team in the game, I took a liking in her once she became proficient in sniper rifles.
    • Fawkes (FO3) - went through hell, the humanity stripped off of him and it still wasn't enough to kill his resolve and kindness. The ability to carry big, friggin' guns like child toys doesn't hurt either.
    • Star Paladin Cross (FO3) - it might be my TTRPG bias talking here, but I perceive her as the group's moral compass, the one who is going to remind everyone to try harder. Also: hit harder.
    • Arcade Israel Gannon (FO:NV) - because it's certainly handy to have the geeky guy to talk to when the camp is set and the night sets in.
    • ED-E (Lonesome Road) - too cute, too cute! I still mourn the lil' metal guy who could.
    • Joshua Graham (Honest Hearts) - the man, the legend. In his demeanor he surpasses every "strong silent type" of character of Fallout franchise. Fight me.
    • Nick Valentine (FO4) - a cynical optimist, an alive machine, a lockpicking detective - there's no shortage of opposites coming from this guy. Plus, he looks damn smooth in a clean black suit, sporting the fedora and That Gun.
    • Old Longfellow (Far Harbor) - there's something about old pirate-y islander who enjoy drinking and singing equally old songs. Aye.

    And as the odd one...

    • Ashley "Ash" Joanna Williams, the protagonist of the Evil Dead series. Hail to the king, baby. Surprisingly fitting the setting of Fallout the guy might be an asshole at times, but he is also quite resourceful and has wondrous ability to stay alive and sane against all odds. As a bonus: the Fallout is filled with things considered supernatural and it wouldn't hurt to have in the group a person, who not only realizes some of these "magical mumbo-jumbo" is real, but about the danger it carries within.

    So, how about you?

A little while back I wanted to make a animated fallout show about the enclave, any one want to see the script?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 05:59 PM PDT

A little while back I wanted to make a animated fallout show about the enclave. It would have taken place during the time fallout 4 in a world were the NCR and BOS formed a full alliance after the battle of hover damn, and I'd like to add that this isn't always lore friendly at times, but anyway the enclave set up a new supreme command bunker in the very North of America, and shortly after they accidentally recreate the scorched plague and the bunker goes into quarantine but they find the long abandoned white springs bunker mabey close to the vaccine. So the newest president sends the protagonist secret service agent October lantern and a specialist team to reactivate white springs. And that's were the show starts and i started writing scripts. Would anyone be interested in reading them? There not the most polished thing in the world and it is a bit dumb at times but I spent a year writing them but I just didn't have the time or man power to make the actual show. So is anyone interested in reading my scripts here on reddit. I also made some small character descriptions if anyone here is interested in seeing those as well. I was going to name the show The Enclave Returns.
