Chems and their real world counterparts

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 06:53 PM PDT

Jet - I think this is most likely just some postwar jenkem with fumes and chemical properties that somewhat mimic the effects of meth.

Med-X - As stated by Josh Sawyer, it was originally just morphine and had to be renamed so they could legally distribute the game in Australia.

Stimpaks - Probably some amalgamation of stem cells and an artificial blood coagulant.

Mentats - I'm guessing it's some derivative of the 2C family of hallucinogenics, and party time Mentats are more akin to 2CB.

Psycho - I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it's just a brand/nickname of methamphetamine, since meth has historically been given to troops to lower their inhibitions and to keep them alert over long periods of time.

Does anyone else have anything to add?

Why did the Chinese use swords?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 11:11 AM PDT

It's been bugging me that Chinese officers used swords, considering the only time I know that modern China used swords was during the Japanese invasion, but that was the KMT, not the Communists. If anything it seems like it was adapted from the Japanese. Does anyone have any insight to this?

How were there no ghouls before the war?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 10:53 PM PDT

With how integral nuclear power was to the prewar society in fallout, there had to of been accidents or tests done on humans. How were no ghouls ever created before the war, and if they were, how did nobody ever notice they don't need food/water and don't age (which would've led to studies on them and we would've probably had lore about it by now)? To me that sounds like something the US military would've wanted to take full advantage of considering they were trying to create super soldiers with FEV.

Do we know what faction the Lone Wanderer is loyal to canonically?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:49 AM PDT

I think its safe to assume the LW becomes the general of the minutemen. But that's when the certainly I have ends. The 3 other factions, BoS, Institute, and Railroad can lead to very different outcomes for the commonwealth depending on who doesn't get blown up.

I can imagine the Prydwyn exploding would be a massive blow to the east BoS. The Institute and Railroad, we'll they just 100% get eradicated. Sure remnants exist, but I wouldn't say enough to pose any threat for a long time

I personally feel like the Railroad would have the best meshing with the Minutemen, and can definitely see a commonwealth where the two often help each other out. The railroad already is a mixed bag when it comes to how people think of them. But if they helped remove the BoS and destroy the "boogymen" that terrifies the commonwealth, I think they'll be looked on more foundly. That's more so speculation and wishful thinking on my part however.

What do you think? Do we know what happens in a lore sense? And if we don't, what ending do you like to see?

What happened with the uniforms of public servants?

    Posted: 03 Aug 2021 01:37 AM PDT

We have US Army soldier uniforms along with either a helmet or a beret, postman uniforms along with their hats, doctors outfits, and the coast guard hat. What happened to EMS uniforms, or surgeon scrubs? Police officer uniforms? Firemen uniforms? Park ranger uniforms? The best we get for police uniforms in the patrolman's glasses. Apparently Fallout 76 has rectified this a bit by having patrolman uniforms as well as fireman uniforms, but the implication there is that either somehow all these outfits somehow all got destroyed over the past 175 years, despite many other types of uniform not being destroyed, or the conclusion none of us want to reach: they never bothered to put them in the games because they thought it wasn't worth it.

Why didn’t the BOS rewire/build their own robots?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2021 12:27 PM PDT

Is the sole survivor can stitch together a robot out of 6 eyes, a leg, and a fridge, why did the BOS try to either capture and reprogram robots to fight for/with them? (Or make their own?).
