Did the US ever use militarized robots in combat?

Across many military outposts in the games you'll find gutsy robots, sentry bots and assaultrons and will even encounter some roaming about. If power armor shifted the tide so much in the war against China wouldn't an army of sentry bots be even more effective for that scenario?

The Master's army can survive forever despite sterile mutants

    Posted: 12 Jul 2021 08:25 PM PDT

In Fallout 1, the Master can be shown proof that super mutants are sterile and cannot reproduce, dooming his plans.

I don't see any reason why he can't just have a pool of normal humans to have offspring, and then mutate 50% of their children, and leave the other half to make more offspring.

Basically he could thrive so long as he had some normal humans on the side to make offspring and potential super mutants for him.

Were the Environment and Fossil Fuels concerns in the Fallout universe?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2021 03:17 AM PDT

Title. Was the environment and usage of fossil fuels a concern for pre-war governments? We see Helios 1, a solar farm in Nevada, were there other uses of renewable technology?

I'm mostly talking about something similar to modern day, our-universe. Where fossil fuels being replaced with renewable energy is being supported more and more, and the environment is a concern.

Is FEV just Fallout universe's equivalent of IRL CRISPR?

    Posted: 13 Jul 2021 02:46 AM PDT

We know that the common FEV turns humans into Supermutants. But other versions of FEV make mutated animals, just straight up kill people or just mutated people, make Gen 3 Synths, and turn back supermutants into normal humans.

While research on gene editing was started in the 1970s, the most popular and successful to date, CRISPR, was first used in 1993, 4 years before the first Fallout game. According to the creators of CRISPR, it can be used as a vector to insert genes they want into a cell's DNA/mRNA. CRISPR has been used for gene therapy on diseases such as cancer, muscle dystrophy, HIV, and such, but as of 3 years ago, Chinese scientists made the first designer babies using CRISPR.

Is is true that FEV is the Fallout universe's equivalent of CRISPR or are there more differences between them? From the game perspective, FEV has a lot of things common with CRISPR eg. making prewar humans into giant green muscular beings due to how the common FEV works by enhancing muscle and bone mass at the gene level but with the side effect of reduced intelligence, green skin, and disappearance of sexual features such as gonads.

Was Raven Rock ever occupied by humans before the Enclave came East?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2021 09:49 AM PDT

Because another post brought up Raven Rock I got reinterested in the facility and looked at the wiki article. Raven Rock is described as "a shelter for top military officials" and the article says that before the war, scientists were monitoring ZAX growing sentience but there's no mention of people being there between the Great War and when Autumn Sr. brings to remaining Enclave from the West. Was Raven Rock just left vacant all this time? Was there no support personnel there when the war started? Despite being so close to DC, did all the military leaders just go to Whitespring?
