Fallout 4 just broke my heart and i don't know how to deal with it Posted: 02 Jul 2021 10:46 PM PDT Was walking around Boston when i saw a radio tower. So I went there and turn it on. In this moment i found the Miller family radio station. The station was a prerecorded message saying that a family was trap in a bunker almost out of air, and asking for help. So, out of emotion, I run off to find them just above a scrappyard full of super mutant. I fought them hardly and desperately as fast as I could so I could save that family. When I was done and exhausted, I rush through the bunker to save them, just as I entered the bunker, and saw the skeletons and realized. The message was from almost 200 years ago. So the father stayed in the radio for as long as he could just to try to save his family, when he realized no one was coming, he just hugged his family and waited for the end. I'm not crying. I swear I'm not crying [link] [comments] |

As imperfect as Fallout 3 is, it has the best overall tone in the whole series Posted: 03 Jul 2021 12:26 AM PDT Let me elaborate before NV fans absolutely annihilate me. Fallout 3's setting in DC is so bleak and emptied of hope that the wasteland feels absolutely desolate. It feels as if there is next to no chance of any sort of rebuilding of society. New Vegas builds upon the rebuilding that was shown in Fallout 1 and 2 and continues to show societal progression which shows hope. I'm not saying that New Vegas showing hope is bad, but I absolutely love how unforgiving Fallout 3's wasteland is. The area was bombed into Oblivion(no pun intended), the sky remains a permanent green from radiation, there's hardly any real settlements besides Rivet City and Megaton, and the area is full of enemies. Fallout 4 and New Vegas at least have communities scattered across the map, but Fallout 3 barely has any, which really adds to the fact that a nuclear war happened, and was so destructive that even 200 years later people still struggled to rebuild. Just my opinion, don't get too triggered, but I love the wasteland in Fallout 3 [link] [comments] |
For those of you who are reluctant to destroy the Institute, here are some consolations Posted: 02 Jul 2021 07:05 PM PDT The Institute's a complete mess. Their isolation from the world has given them a massive superiority complex, and even an Institute victory has them show no signs of changing for the better. Their complete myopia on the sentience of Synths is completely at odds with the nature of science to constantly check and review evidence, which is also consistent with their running the Super Mutant program for several decades even past the point of obtaining useful data. This is all readily apparent, and all these points have been argued before and the dead horse has been beaten. But what of the wondrous new technologies that the Institute has produced? What of the wonders that will never be created because of its destruction? Turns out they haven't truly created anything new over the 200+years of their existence, save for the Mass Relay. In Fallout lore, growing clone limbs is a known pre-War technology, along with synthetic implants and Robobrain reprogramming. Synth creation is not an entirely new technology, it's merely where these technologies converge. Their laser weapons may be flashy, but they're oversized and underpowered, and their use of plastics is probably due to the synthesis of bioplastics, which were synthesized BEFORE the point of divergence from real life! And even where they've managed to create something that Pre-War scientists couldn't manage (such as teleportation) other organizations have also independently discovered it (the Big MT, for example). Hell, if you chose the Minutemen to destroy the Institute, there are missions to save Institute survivors and put them to work for you. It's not a stretch of the imagination to think that after the Commonwealth manages to drive out the Raiders and Mutants, you'd be able to put the Institute scientists to work on projects that would ACTUALLY be able to help people. tl;dr: the Institute isn't even all that scientifically advanced, the only advancements they're responsible for are in visual design [link] [comments] |

Just had the best idea for the US Constitution. Posted: 02 Jul 2021 09:53 PM PDT Spoiler warning for one of the side quests in Fallout 4. Just finished helping the robots get the ship ready and launched and just had an idea I thought was hilarious. I was thinking it would've been cool if they let you continue helping them, and eventually get the ship all the way to the sea, and while watching it go, I saw how close the Prydwen was, and had a hilarious idea. How awesome would it have been if you could get the robots to fly INTO the Prydwen, as a means of destroying it, if you side against the Brotherhood of Steel. It would be so perfect in so many ways! Not just destroying their zeppelin, which is already so dangerous on its own, but the irony that they're killed by a literal rocket ship, driven by a robot crew. And maybe just for some gravy, let you tune in and hear Ironsides talking as he does so, probably having the Lone Survivor tricked him into thinking the Prydwen was an enemy of theirs. The remaster New Vegas deserves Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:56 PM PDT I was browsing the "New Vegas Remaster" posts that have been shared on here and it really made me want to play NV. So I did; had a blast. Then it got me thinking about all the posts and I figured I'd throw in my two cents. So here it is, the remaster that Fallout New Vegas deserves. Imagine if you will, a world where the original vision of Obsidian is fully realized. A world where, depending on your starting trajectory and speed, you can make it to Nipton before the legion does. You can sit outside their perimeter and gaze upon Vulpes Inculta carrying out the atrocities against the townsfolk. Perhaps you decide to warn the town, tell them to arm themselves and prepare for all-out war. Will you succeed against the tyrants or fail alongside your hastily rounded army? Branching paths, changing and shaping the course of your playthrough, starting as soon as you take your first step outside Doc Mitchel's house. Perhaps you never get to Jason Bright and his band of believers and help them out with their great journey. It takes a while, but eventually, on one of your long treks across the Mojave, you watch their ships fly overhead. On your way to Gibson Scrapyard, you start noticing signs of a fight, a battle, maybe even a struggle. As you make your way over you see the trail of dead ghouls and junkyard dogs. Inside the garage is Lady Gibson. Is she alive? Is she dead? It all depends on the actions you took in your journey. Maybe your path never specifically intersects with hers, or Jason Bright's and so all you see is the outcome of one person's unwillingness to help. On a subsequent playthrough, you might wander towards the REPCONN testing facility and make a difference. Or you might complete a quest out there, seemingly irrelevant, that affected the entire outcome of "Come fly with me". Let's say you help out Novac by providing them with the tools necessary to electrify their fences, you talk to Jeanie May and try to convince her to be more amicable with other nearby towns and outposts. She agrees and some time passes, you wander over to Gibson's Scrapyard and see she has the same tech on her fences, she can defend against any incoming attack because of your actions in Novac. That's what I'm talking about. Everyone I know who likes NV can agree on one thing; a great part of its enjoyability is how your actions have consequences. So let's crank that up to absurd levels where shit can get whacky, where you can play the same game over and over and over, and it'll be different every time. I love NV, but I feel like a god by the end of my playthrough, you can do every little thing there is to do in the game in 2-3 playthroughs, maybe even one if you're well researched and extremely thorough. Let's make the world space seemingly endless by adding in a dynamic storyline that actively changes as you adventure. We all know the story of New Vegas' short production cycle, 18 months to make a killer game that would live up to the hype. They did their absolute best and crammed the world full of content. Quests, companions, weapons, and so much more. Yet to this day there are channels on youtube that are almost solely dedicated to churning out tons of New Vegas Cut Content videos. Bring back all the stuff the development team had to scrap or cut because there simply wasn't enough time. The strip, make it what it should be, bring that concept art to life, and give us the masterpiece that was originally envisioned. An expanded Westside, less walled off Freeside, way more casinos. Show us what House has really been up to. You're telling me the man could stop dozens of nukes from destroying Vegas in its entirety and in 200 years, this is what remains? This is all he could muster in all that time? I find it hard to believe. The DLC itself should be remastered and expanded to fully encapsulate the scope of this side of the Fallout landscape. Let us travel to New Canaan, let us help the people of Ashton and Hopevile, and watch as Ulyssys accidentally leads to its downfall, meeting the NCR's most Eastern establishments not counting the Mojave. In Dead Money, we can take Dog/God to Jacobstown and watch that play out, we can help Dean Domino rob some casinos, perhaps we have to return in force after the battle of Hoover Dam to put an end to Christine and the Ghost folk who follow her. Or maybe a group or rogue BoS paladins hear Elijah's distress signal and go help him and then we gotta deal with that. In Honest hearts, maybe if you help the Boomers, they teach you how to fix a plane and when you go to Zion, you get the tribes to help you fix the plane atop one of the peaks and fly it to New Canaan. Joshua Graham's story can be expanded upon and we don't have to keep seeing that "good for 2011" animation of him checking pistols anymore. Maybe we can meet Follows-Chalk in the Mojave if we tell him to go explore. Depending on your karma and how you handled the DLC, he'll either be taken advantage of and killed, become helpful and settle down, or wander the wastes being a bad MF. In Old World Blue's we can watch as the Think Tank's experiments spread farther out into the Mojave and their influence is felt as towns become more and more technologically advanced. Maybe one of the trauma override suits kills Primm's new sheriff and does a weekend at Bernie's type deal. He even comes to the big "characters you met come together" moment near a big battle and everyone is totally okay with him when he speaks for the dead dude inside him. He can even decompose as time goes on until it's just a skeleton but you're the only person who thinks something is up. Or maybe everyone in Novac gets lobotomized and you have to get to the bottom of the mystery. You have to go back to Big MT to scold the Think tank. In lonesome road, we could rewind the clock a little and actually visit Ashton and Hopevile before Ulyssys accidentally doomed the place. Hell, maybe we can even try and stop him from even bringing the device in that set off the nukes in the first place and that can be part of his and the courier's struggle. Look y'all, what I'm trying to get to here is that a remaster should be more than just a shiny new coat of paint and some new mechanics implementation. It should be the completed version of a masterpiece once long dreamt of. [link] [comments] |
I just started Fallout: New Vegas. Any advice? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 01:12 AM PDT |
Posted: 03 Jul 2021 02:36 AM PDT I would appreciate it if people didn't focus on the combat/weapon system please! For me it would be the WORLD of Fallout. It's funny how, for a world so desolate, barren, dire and miserable as the Wasteland, I always find so much comfort and euphoria in walking around and exploring it; with my radio station blasting out some of the best early 20th Century Jazz Pop music I've ever heard! In terms of gaming, oddly enough, the Wasteland is one of my homes :) [link] [comments] |
Pre-war Fallout, A place you'd want to be or a living hell? Posted: 02 Jul 2021 05:28 PM PDT So there's nuclear powered everything and a poor attitude to waste disposal but Rad-X and Rad Away are effective and plentiful, Stimpaks cure many physical ailments but a car crash may just outright kill you. Personally pre-war Fallout comes across as a bit like the Stepford Wives, Demolition Man or the town from Edward Scissorhands, it just feels a bit off, like the more undesirable facts are buried and buried hard by government propaganda. I wouldn't feel comfortable living there knowing that there were a ton of socio-economic problems being kept from everyone else. [link] [comments] |

How do I get into the silver rush? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 01:06 AM PDT When I try entering the Siler rush in fallout newvegas the scene never happens and I cant complete the cass quest is there any way to fix that wont invalidate me getting the hardcore mode achievement. [link] [comments] |
I really hope in the future we get collectible music for Radio’s. Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:21 PM PDT Imagine it, either a pre-existing Station like GNR or a player-made signal which plays music that you can find throughout the wastes. I always thought it was a wasted concept seeing as how much we can interact with Travis/Three Dog and the Minutemen Radio. [link] [comments] |
What to do with Starlight Drive-In's little puddle of water? Posted: 03 Jul 2021 02:27 AM PDT Hey all! I'm working on a huge settlement at starlight, but I still haven't figured out what to do with the water puddle(?). The city in my headcanon/own lore is a huge trading post, meaning they produce just about nothing themselves, so I know I don't want the usual water purifiers in there. They're getting their water from both water merchants and collecting rainwater What I've built already is already pretty huge, might post pics soon once I have even more! Would appreciate suggestions, or just to hear what you did with it! Thanks. [link] [comments] |

Is it me, or does "Maybe" always plays on GNR radio after you get exiled from vault 101 in fallout 3 Posted: 02 Jul 2021 11:21 PM PDT |
Posted: 02 Jul 2021 08:31 PM PDT to preface, i finished fallout 3 for the first time a few months ago, and i've been on an off with playing the dlc. i've played new vegas, some of 4, and i'm almost done with 1. i didn't really started playing fallout until late last year, so i'm still relatively new to everything. anyways, i genuinely loved fallout 3. i adored the setting, the terrifyingly lonely vibe, the subway tunnels. i even loved the dad. i was texting my friends right as he was about to die saying "i hope he doesn't die" lol. but i know there's a lot of hate towards the main quest. i can see some of the criticisms, like the idea of the dad being pretty one dimensional, the dialogue choices not really holding up compared to ones in 1 and 2, and the linear aspect of it. but i really enjoyed it for what it was. don't get me wrong, i adore non linear games, and i think they're my favorite style. i loved the freedom in morrowind and fallout 1, although i did have to use some guides at certain points lol. but for what fallout 3 is, being a transition from that top down turn based rpg, i think it's wonderful. i do think certain things could have been improved, like the enclave. i would have loved to seen the social commentary go even further in looking at that all american 50s patriotism. and i don't like how the character survives after the explosion in the DLC, i thought that was sort of a weird ending. honestly, i like it and the main story SO much better than 4. 4 was so boring to me i couldn't even finish it, but i have watched other people play it so i know the ending and all that. i don't think 3 is better than new vegas or 1, but definitely not as bad as i see people talk about. anyways, i just wanted to see what other people thought :) i know that games pretty old so i'm sure everything's been said already, but i just wanted to see what people thought now :) [link] [comments] |
