Is a reason ever given for why Sean didn’t have his surviving parent picked up from the vault/commonwealth and brought to the institute? (FO4)

I know he says that he never considered his parents growing up, but he says that changed as he got older. By the time you arrive at the institute, he says he was expecting you, so I'm pretty sure he was aware to some extent of your exploits on the way to find him. Sean's obviously a bit of a sociopath lol but I can't imagine him knowing one of his mysterious surviving parents is frozen in a vault (the location of which he most certainly knows) and not thinking 'hey why don't I go pick them up?' Even if just out of curiosity if not love. When you do show up he immediately asks you to stay, so why let you run around like a mad person, exposing his secrets to your comrades and killing his valuable synths by the dozen. All it would take is one disguised synth to be sent out and tell the SS 'hey I know you're looking for your son, Sean. Well he's alive and well and I can take you to him'

I just got to the institute in my current play through and found this very odd so I'm wondering if there's an explanation for it - or if it's just one of the overlooked/underconsidered plot holes in fo4.

Edit: OOPS Shaun, not Sean lol

Are the numbers in the names of different Power Armors the year they were created/fielded?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 10:03 AM PDT

So for example, is T-45 called that because it was first created or fielded in the year 2045? T-51 in 2051?

The Weirdness of Raider Power Armor/NCR Power Armor

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 02:07 PM PDT

the NCR had obtained hordes of BoS power armor and had to remove servos to use them properly as prior to fallout 4 you needed a recon suit and training to actually wear power armor in lore. But Raider Armor is the literal antithesis of NCR Power Armor, its somehow wearable with servos despite no training present and clearly no recon armor as the frame replaced that. So the question is: did the NCR really need to downgrade their captured suits at all?

How intelligent are Gen 2 Synths

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 12:32 AM PDT

We know from Deacon that gen 1 synths are basically the same level of intelligence as a protectron and Gen 3, well we know that they're basically human clones manufactured in the Institute.

But what about Gen 2? Obviously they look more like a mannequin rather than human beings but aside from their appearance what's their level of intelligence? Can they develop their own mindset like Gen 3's after a potential memory wipe? Or are they strictly a machine on a human looking body? Meaning that they would have to be reprogrammed and given specific commands to follow? We also know from William Moseley that their personality matrices were limited for earlier Synths but he does not explain how limited.

For example Valentine has developed his own mindset in a way. After the initial shock that he's not the real Nick Valentine he developed his own personality. Same with DiMA. However if I'm not mistaken they are not Gen 2 nor Gen 3. They both are somewhere in between and prototypes so their level of comparison to the 2nd Generation synths is limited (meaning that you can't take them as one and the same. They have similarities).

Why does the NCR not just let House fight Caesar ?

    Posted: 06 Jun 2021 05:43 PM PDT

What prevents the NCR from concentrating it's overstretches forced into easily defensible locations west of New Vegas eg Mcarran, the Mojave Outpost, Rex Rick Canyon (after wiping out the 15 or so khans there). Mr House pre upgrades is just strong enough to make an NCR conquest of NV a phyrric victory if they don't have go worry about Caesar and Mr house can't run/abandon NV so why not pull back from the dam for a few weeks just let them fight and then return to easily finish off the survivor ( most likely Caesars forces)? This might even give them a couple of weeks to properly train some of their recruits and simplify their logistic demands.

What is the connection between EPA (Fallout 2) and Vault 22 (Fallout: New Vegas), as well as Big MT (Old World Blues)

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 12:31 AM PDT

First and foremost, you could argue that EPA isn't canonical. People say that the reason it was cut, however, because the developers didn't have enough time to finish it. With that knowledge in hand, it could be entirely possible that the EPA is at least partially canonical.

As for the connection, we see spore plants in Fallout 2, although we don't see any spore carriers. Regardless, these spore plants are pretty much everywhere, all the way from Southern Oregon to a Nevada uranium mine. The EPA was supposed to be infested with spore plants, and even have a room with cazadores. Maybe not cazadores, but they were described as mutant hornets. So I would like to ask. What is the connection between the EPA and Vault 22 and Big MT? We know that spore plants and the associated virus that turns humans into carriers for their spore pods were designed at Big MT and later tested in Vault 22. Cazadores were also designed at Big MT but they were never shipped anywhere. The animal science division led by Dr. Borous thought that they had remained at Big MT plus were also sterile, which turns out to be false since they have since then moved north and spread throughout the Mojave causing much trouble. Now, Reno is a city in Nevada, and the EPA is pretty close to there, so maybe Cazadores spread through all Nevada and somehow settled into the EPA, and got into a storage room.

Anyway, that's about my question. Please leave behind a more thoughtful answer than "Interplay/Black Isle just wasn't as sure about the lore for spore plants and cazadores as Obsidian was later".
