What is the role of NCR Rangers?

Like all I'm gathering is that they act in a "special forces" role. But what does that actually mean? In New Vegas rangers will escort the president and perform patrols? But do they do other things like sabotaging Legion supply routes? What about assassinations? Or destroying strategic Legion assets? Seems like the rangers are under utilized.

Do Gen 3 Synths require food and sleep like normal people?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 03:31 AM PDT

We know from Max Loken that Synths do not require sleep or do not feel hunger (also they are immune to diseases if I understood correctly) but with Curie it's really not the case. She questions how is she able to cope with her new body as a synth because she requires food and sleep.
Could it be that because of the deleted memories she thinks like a human? Because the Railroad erases the memories from escaped Synths in order for the Institute to have a hard time tracking them. On one hand it could make sense, however Curie knows she is a Synth. So that theory possibly goes out of the window

    So if ghosts are real...

    Posted: 24 May 2021 07:42 PM PDT

Then the after life is real, also meaning souls do probably exist. So if souls exist in the fallout universe as something living things (humans at least) are born with, then what do you think that could that mean for let's say Kellogg? I'd only ask for him specifically because when you kill him and take his brain chip and install it into nick, he somehow retains his own consciousness to talk to the SS. Would it just be the last essence of his soul saying his last fuck you to the player or could he still live on somehow in nick as a static spirit. It's completely speculative but it's in interesting thing to think about not just for him but for everyone else too. Obviously synths wouldn't have souls too right? Since they're made by a machine not by whatever god(s) in the fallout universe intend. And by that, does a god or god(s) also exist in fallout? Fallout 3 has a heavy christian undertone too it with the waters of life, the LWs birthday being a passage in the Bible about the earth being a desolate wasteland and the all the vaults being references to certain passages to the book of psalm. Eldritch entities do exist 100% are but are really only referenced on the east coast as they're never mentioned or referenced in fallout 1, 2, new Vegas or even tactics to my knowledge. This might get flagged for a rule here but it's still apart of lore that ghosts and to that end souls exist in fallout, plus I've hardly seen stuff like this mentioned as it's just a thing that isn't too important as a whole. After all fallout 5 isn't going to be about the BoS trying to contact the gods to cleanse all of humanities souls LMAO.

Why there are no land vehicules in the Fallout serie ?

    Posted: 24 May 2021 02:47 AM PDT

I recently joined the Fallout Community by playing New Vegas (which i liked a lot), watched a tons of Fallout lore videos, and starting Fallout 4 a week ago.

And i realise something : i never saw or heard about a usable land vehicule.

I know some flying vehicules remain (as the Vertibird ,the President Helicopter in NV or the BoS Zeppelins) but afaik there are no working land vehicules such are cars or tanks or whatever.

    Why ?

I get that the world ran out of fossil ressources such as oil/petroleum or gas, leading pre-war cars to be kinda unusable and useless.

But why there arent any new kind of cars working with nuclear energy such as energy cells ? Considering there are heavily technologicly advanced group like the Brotherhood of Steel or the Institute, i find it weird that it seems that none of them tried to developp a technology to make car again.

I get that cars would be more difficult to use than flying shit, because of some part of the ground being destroyed, irradiated or infested by monsters, but still would super usefull to transport materials or people.

Maybe some of you have a piece of lore that i don't have ?
