How Much Drinking Water Does New California Have?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 05:28 AM PDT

To quote an entry on the Shi from the Fallout wiki:

Due to this merging, research on radiation-resistant plant life was resumed. The research culminated in a radiation consuming vine that scoured the San Francisco area of radiation after the Enclave's destruction.

Short synopsis: the Shi are the technological powerhouse in NCR territory. While we can only speculate how far these vines reached, as these plants might not extend to regions like The Glow or other Californian coasts, we do know that SF covers 46.87 mi² in land area and is almost surrounded by water on all sides. In our world, it is the fourth most populous city in California and that flora found to grow there have adapted to warm, Mediterranean climates.

That begs the question: could the NCR have spread these vines farther from SF? Do you think there was enough water from the SF region to help the Californian territory as a whole with water shortages? Thus, helping elevate the overall life expectancy of NCR citizens.

Protectrons and robobrains in the capital wasteland

    Posted: 17 Apr 2021 01:52 AM PDT

im playing fallout 3 for the first time rn and I noticed that there are a lot of protectrons and army robobrain wandering the wasteland, so I wanna know if there's any reason for that, any explanation as to why there are so many automatons 200 years after the bombs fell, and how they still are in working order

Is Vault City Independent, or part of NCR?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 05:59 AM PDT

Both it and New Reno seem to be a grey area, although I believe we have more indication that New Reno is not part of NCR but it still seems either conflicting or far too vague.

Are businessmen and engineers NCR repairing Corvegas and selling them to the public?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 09:02 PM PDT

In the Fallout Universe, biodiesel exists as a fuel. As such, there is a fuel that could be used by the NCR to power automobiles that aren't nuclear powered. The NCR's engineers could also visit the Library of the Boneyard if they want to find an engine for their brand new vehicles like a inline 4, an inline 6 or even a V8. They can even use the Corvega Sedan designs to recreate a Chryslus Corvega that is brand new. So, is it possible for them to make Chryslus Corvega Sedans powered by diesel?

*Btw, electric power could also be used.

How does Dean Domino protect the Courier from the Cloud?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 12:30 PM PDT

Question above. The other companions have their perks explained - Christine jams the frequencies, Dog consumes the Ghost People while God presumably warns you of traps (and not activating is just a gameplay convenience). However, is it ever explained how Dean protects someone besides himself from the Cloud? Elijah confirms that gas masks and rebreathers do nothing so it can't be that.

Normally you'd chalk it up to gameplay and story segregation but Dean himself refers to it both during his recruitment and whenever you enter cloud pockets he warns you he can't protect you for long. So he clearly is doing something but what exactly is it? A breathing technique of some kind? Some invisible forcefield he has on hand?

    House, Sinclair, and Big Mountain

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 07:54 AM PDT

Sinclair, of course, got screwed over on a grand scale by the scientists at Big Mountain. House seems to have avoided that, despite one of the scientists hating him on a personal level. To the best of my recollection, House never mentions either Sinclair or Big Mountain in conversation with The Courier. Pre-war, House and Sinclair would certainly have moved in the same social circles and their businesses had some degree of overlap. As a mover and shaker in the tech world, House would certainly have been aware of Big Mountain. Is there anything in the lore, letters or terminal entries or such, that fleshes out the relationships among these people? Was it simply that Sinclair was a chump and House wasn't?
