How is everyone feeling about the Call of Duty-esque Frontier so far? Has anybody gotten to beyond the scripted sections yet? Almost 3 hours in so far.

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 08:51 AM PST

As above. I am almost 3 hours in and have been in effectively one long cutscene. Though technically impressive within the scope of the engine and possibly the most complex scripting humanly possible in gamebryo, I have found myself multiple times saying out loud "not again please god" every time we are clearly moving from one setpiece to another in which you, the player, have almost zero agency as you go through shooting galleries.

Am i alone here? I really did not expect a mix of Operation Anchorage and Battle of Hoover Dam to go on THIS long and i have yet to find anybody who has gotten to the freeform play yet. At first I was impressed but now that I am in chapter 2 and still railroaded, I am not seeing a light at the end of this tunnel and really want to go back to playing TTW but I KNOW the freeplay is out there it just seems to be "just around the corner".

[RP] Sided with the Powder Gangers for the first time. It was...interesting.

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 10:01 PM PST

I always make goody-two-shoes types, but I wanted someone a little more morally ambiguous. My idea was a woman from a tribe in California, one of a number of "unpaid helpers", emphasis on "number". She, herself, is just known as Six. To her, she was getting paid. She got food, water, shelter, and protection, in exchange for work. Sure, she got less than the fighters, but they have to risk their lives. Fair enough. NCR butted in and butchered them all, so she skedaddled. Her tribe got too ballsy, and didn't know their limits. Cause and effect. So she got a courier job in the Hub, and went east to Nevada.

After one successful delivery in the Divide that's sure to have absolutely zero negative ramifications, she took another, but got shot in the noggin, yet survived. After leaving Doc Mitchell's house, she looked at the invoice for the delivery: if left unfulfilled, there may be mercenaries sent after her. Again, fair is fair. They hired her to do a job, so she should do it, or face the consequences. Cause and effect.

I quickly got a feel that she wasn't exactly the best with people. Little emotion or empathy, but not the type to murder and steal for the hell of it. Basically the female equivalent of the One Punch Man "okay" meme. She just looks at the cause and effect, as I've been repeating. If I do this, that will happen. Can I deal with those consequences?

She helped Sunny out, failed to save someone that went too close to the geckos ("Her fault for not being prepared,") and learned of Ringo and Cobb. Her immediate reaction: "Why not give then Ringo? His demands are clear." It seemed crystal clear to her. If Ringo couldn't take the Powder Gangers, he should have paid up. So no wonder people are after him, he has it coming. Now they're threatening Goodsprings to hand him over. Either do so, and they stay safe, or don't, and get shot. So...hand him over, he has it coming. For once, my character actually agreed with Chet!

So, in her mind, both Ringo and Goodsprings were given their choices, and chose. It also didn't hurt that she was getting on the good side of a local tribe.

When the dust settled, all of Goodsprings was dead (except for Chet - good boy, not getting involved!). She personally decapitated Sunny with her plasma pistol, and shot her dog. Doc Mitchell died in the fighting, too.

For whatever reason, seeing Sunny's decapitated head made her feel...something. Her mind went back to them shooting sarsparilla bottles on the fence behind the saloon. Why, though? Weird. It wasn't a particularly important interaction, so why was she thinking about it?

As of right now, she's running errands for the Powder Gangers, trying to earn enough caps for heavier armor and more ammo for her plasma pistol, though she's a little disappointed in what they have to offer her. No merchants at all, and they seem to send her out specifically on jobs they expect her to die on. Maybe it's best to just leave them behind and continue pursuing the man that shot her. After all, she has a job to fulfill.

The Great Khans feel really... underdeveloped

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 09:36 AM PST

Anyone else feel like the Great Khans and Red Rock Canyon are a missed opportunity? They're barely more than static set dressing. There's next to no quests or interactions aside from an optional main story encounter in Boulder City, a "legion or NCR" main story choice, and a couple of cut-and-dry drug smuggling chores. It would've been spiffy if the Khans at Red Rock Canyon had more unique NPCs with side quests and activities, sort of like the quest "Still in the Dark" for the Brotherhood.

How do i change thr games language?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 06:57 AM PST

I dont really enjoy the voice acting in my native german so i wanted to change the language. The language packs you can get dont really work and there is no way to change it in the game itself. Anyone got an idea?

    Download full modded FNV

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 04:12 AM PST

Hey, I am searching for somebody, who could give me a link to a full modded FNY. I know a lot of tutorials like viva new Vegas, but I would like to download a full folder with pre installed mods, so I can enjoy an Fallout New Vegas Remastered 2021 Edition, without spending a lot of time installing all the mods by myself. I already have an version I modded myself back in 2018, but unfortunately it keeps crashing every 10 minutes, so I can not enjoy it anymore.

    Thank you in advance

Mod suggestions for a 2021 playthrough

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 12:19 AM PST

    Hey, guys and gals!

I've always wanted to start a new playthrough of New Vegas but never actually did it until now so I thought I'd come here to start this discussion. Apologies if these kind of threads are common, I do follow this subreddit but I'm not very active on here

What are the best mods for a modern playthrough of New Vegas?

Now, from what I understand from reading posts/comments on here over the years is that if you want the best gameplay experience in New Vegas, following the Viva New Vegas guide is a must and I have done that. Used to watch Gopher's modding videos and tutorials back in the days but I guess they must be out-of-date by now. I have a hard-on for modding and graphical enhancements so I enjoy playing, modding and recording videos/pictures in games. I once posted a screenshot of My Courier several years ago

I'm on the GOG version and already installed

    1. NVSE
    2. 4 GB Patcher
    3. JIP LN NVSE & Johnny Guitar
    4. Heap Replacer
    5. New Vegas Anti-Crash
    6. Mod limit fix
    7. One Tweak

Next, I'm going to get the bug fixes and unofficial patches but after that, what comes next?

I remember mods like Darnified UI, OneHud, the mod which added numerous features like the sprint ability, Fallout 4 HUD, Alternate Start and Shilo DS Maps/Pipboy, so I'll be getting them later on

I want to get my hands on some texture mods like NMC or Ojo Bueno, especially 4K texture mods

My problem is that I'm only familiar with the most popular mods and I would like you guys to recommend hidden gems and/or newer mods, thanks in advance!

After War Nevada is the BEST fnv mod

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 09:33 AM PST

I feel like this mod doesn't get the recognition it deserves. It completely overhauls the entire game giving it more RPG elements and increased difficulty. I honestly can't even play without it anymore.

I highly encourage anyone who is looking to change things up to give it a try.

    The frontier quick start question

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 09:29 AM PST

I just downloaded the frontier and chose to level up to level 12. I chose to assign the skills points myself. I am level 12 but never got a level up screen to increase my skills or to choose perks. Can someone help me with this? I'm really new to modding.

Is NV just borked for Windows 10?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 04:44 AM PST

I've tried 5 fresh installs, unmodded, with NVSE. xNVSE, FNV4GB together and separately. Deleted all saves, edited INI, deleted and re-verified INI, updated all drivers. My mouse hardly works on the main menu and I have to use arrow keys and enter, I timed it at 5 minutes from new game to seeing Mitchells fan it took so long to get through all the packs.

It only even uses about 300mb RAM, and worked about a year ago on the same laptop. I just wanna kill profligates :(

    Any ideas?

The NCR randomly turning hostile bug

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 04:23 AM PST

I'm currently doing an independent playthrough, and I just installed Yes Man in the Lucky 38. This started Don't Tread on the Bear, so not a big deal yet so long as I don't complete Side Bets. I'm still liked by the NCR, I still have a few quests for them active, this isn't too far too fast just yet. But despite that, the NCR are attacking me on sight. Changing faction reputation in the console has nothing to do with this, they just randomly decided all at once that they want to kill me. How can I fix this?

Recommendations for a modded play through

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 07:12 AM PST

Can anyone recommend me some mods to make the game feel more like a hardcore tactical shooter? I was hoping to get an experience more like Escape from tarkov/stalker, better guns and modding, improved ai for companions and enemies, better gunplay and hopefully a mod that allows you to lean peak even something like cyberpunks leaning system instead of dedicated keybinds would be nice. Any help is greatly appreciated!

So you really can't get the King to talk his men down if you've already used your favor?

    Posted: 16 Jan 2021 12:43 AM PST

I am currently doing a playthrough of New Vegas (to celebrate the 10th birthday) and have started doing some NCR quests to keep on their good side, I got King's Gambit and was left only the choice of killing Pacer because King said I had already used up my favor. Would it make any difference at all had I NOT used up my favor?
