Strip underwater. So I have no clue what caused this and the mods I have for New Vegas aren't causing the problem. Can someone explain to me why this is happening it would be really appreciated.

My game looks beautiful now, and it's so stable. No crashes in 6 hours of testing mods.

Either virtually every modder misunderstands the Legion or I'm reading way too much into their clothes.

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 01:31 AM PST

I've been playing through Frontier for the past day, (or trying to, it freezes or crashes every few minutes), and I noticed something that rubbed me the wrong way: What the actual fuck is the Northern Legion wearing? I mean, I get that they're wearing pre-war military uniforms/armors, but that doesn't fit with the rest of the Legion. Both aesthetically and fundamentally.

The point of the Legion's armor is that, for the recruits/grunts, it's plentiful and uniform. The armor is little more than football padding, scavenged from countless high schools and universities across the West and the Midwest. The armor is died red to make these uniforms, well, uniform. The red coloration is likely blood, which would be plentiful in a society where life is cheaper than water. If they wanted to use camouflage, the armor would likely just have dirt and/or vegetation rubbed into it to make it blend in with their surroundings.

The armor isn't even meant to be that good at being armor; There's no metal until you get to the rank of Vexillary, it's literally just football padding. It might be able to stop a 10mm round or a machete, but that's it. And that's literally the fucking point: you get nothing useful until you prove yourself to the Legion. If the armor fails to save you and you die, you were probably too weak to be useful anyway.

Like how metal in the armor is reserved for the good soldiers, so are the good weapons. You proved your mettle to Caesar? Have this Thermic Lance and a Trail Carbine. You're going hunting after the most wanted person west of the Colorado? Here's a Super Sledge. You're one of 10 soldiers being thrown at a Ranger Outpost? Hope you sharpened your Machete.

Remember how Caesar said that the Legion fights using flesh and blood? That's what he means: You don't get anything better until you prove it. The Legion is built on the backs of slaves and on a foundation of people mad enough to charge into gunfire with nothing but a poofy vest and a dull machete.

But then modders look at it and think "Nah, that's ugly" and make the Legion into a army clad in shining armor with intricately crafted weapons.

Ignoring the fact that mass producing that kind of armor would require an infrastructure unseen anywhere west of Pittsburg, it also cheapens the progression Legionaires show when rising in rank. No longer are Centurians the unstoppable juggernauts clad in metal, they're just the guys wearing twice as much metal. No longer was Lanius presented the only fabricated suit of armor in the Legion, he's just a guy in a weird helmet.

In Frontier, the grunt-level soldiers are wearing actual body armor. While it works in the narrative presented, it spits in the face of everything the legion represents. The higher ups could wear body armor, but the grunts should just be wearing winter gear under football equipment. And, naturally, everything should be dyed red, including the actual plate parts of the combat armor.

TL;DR: The Legion wears their stupid blood-stained football gear for a reason. Stop fucking with it.

I will admit, though, the shields added in Frontier are fucking dope.

I found a pretty nifty glitch. (Spoilers?)

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 02:33 AM PST

Go to Primm, go into the Bison Steve Hotel, then go to the safe where the Lucky revolver is at, after that, put in ammo in the safe, any amount just make sure its over 6, and click on the ammo and press E or W depending on what you use, you'll take the ammo, but the screen will still be there, after that press E or W, and then you'll have a crap ton of Luckys in your inventory.

    Am I just imagining this?

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 09:16 AM PST

Is it normal for this to happen? Normally at the Legion Raid camp there are legionaries, but I saw ncr troopers raiding the camp, is a natural NPC battle normal? Or maybe I'm just dumb,

Companion bug? Yes, I tried dismissing via gun runner terminal.

    Posted: 18 Jan 2021 06:49 AM PST

For some reason I am not able to recruit any companions whatsoever. Yes, I have tried to dismiss my companions at the gun runner terminal to no avail.

I was able to recruit Boone at first, but after I dismissed him when going to Old World Blues I am unable to get him back. He says something like "Well let me know when there's room for me." Same goes for other potential companions as well.

My charisma is only 1 but I though I should still be able to have a companion, yeah? I've even put on some attire to get Charisma 3, but to no avail.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

edit: futhermore, anyone know any console commands to force a companion?

The Dust mod (I haven't played it but I read about it) made me anxious of doing a Independent/House run, so I decided that the best course of action is to eliminate all the NCR camps, leaders, or anyone who poses a threat.
