Preaching to the choir, but this is the best RPG I've ever played

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 10:51 PM PST

For years, I have heard people talk about how amazing New Vegas is. I've seen many people call it their favorite game ever, and how it is the best Fallout game.

In that span, I tried to get into it about 5 times. But I always gave it up right after the Ringo quest where you have to take out the Powder Gangers. The reason was always because the combat felt janky, loose, and inaccurate.

Well, I recently got pretty deep into Cyberpunk 2077, and while I enjoyed it, I was let down by the player choice options. I started thinking about a game I could get into which would quench that thirst, and decided to give NV one more try.

That was about a week ago, and I haven't touched Cyberpunk since. I have been absolutely addicted to NV.

The amount of interesting characters and dialogue options is just incredible. The sheer scope of everything is much larger than I had assumed. While some say the desert is empty, there are still hundreds of locations to find, many of them with their own NPCS which give quests or at least have something interesting to say.

I am nowhere near done, but the 3 moments that sold this as the best RPG I've played are Vault 22 (figuring out that I needed to throw a mine into the gas and quickly close the door to avoid the blast), the Come Fly with Me quest (sending the Ghouls off on the rocket), and the Lucky Old Sun quest, where I needed to choose where to allocate power - each choice with a different outcome, faction implications, and reward.

I have also learned to appreciate combat, and am absolutely floored by the number of weapons there are. Trying out the chainsaw for the first time was one of my most memorable gaming moments in a very long time.

And the last thing I love is that there can be a real challenge to this game if you go looking for it. Harder/higher level enemies can maul you in seconds, but if you stumble across the right weapon, you can still find a creative way to take them out.

I've only completed about 20-25 total quests, so I am sure there will be a LOT more left in store. Big thanks to everyone who has recommended this game over the years, because I would not have tried it if it was not so highly praised.

    What’s up with stealth?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 04:12 AM PST

Decided to do a stealth build like I've done before. Got 100 sneak, wearing light armor, traveling light, silent running. Yet enemies can literally detect me from a mile off? What's going on? I don't remember the stealth being so awful, I remember it honestly being overpowered. I had planned to only invest enough into sneak to make it challenging for me but I can't make it work at all? Is this a bug because I'm not the only one with this problem but I haven't been able find a solution.

If we choose to destroy Mr.House, why can't NCR repurpose his robots for themselves?

Seems strange that they would waste such valuable resource.

ED-E Makes Annoying Sounds In Closed Areas

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 03:34 AM PST

I love ED-E and the first thing I do in game is taking him.
But when we enter tight places he just making really loud metal hit sounds (something like this) and this just make me crazy. Is there any mod to remove this sound or remove his all sounds?
Please don't tell me take another companion or make him wait outside.

Why can't i bring myself to hate Benny?

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 07:55 AM PST

I'm at the bit where you get the choice to kill benny or not at the legion. And... I just can't. I FEEL like I SHOULD hate him, he set up an ambush to kill me because I didn't immediately say I wanted to team up with him, he shot me over the chip but... I feel like I can sympathize with every one of his actions, he's just so understandable.

    Specific crashing issue

    Posted: 03 Jan 2021 08:19 AM PST

So I've noticed that 9 times out of 10 when I play FNV, the audio will cut out entirely, and/or the world won't load, and then the game locks up for about a minute and then closes. I have the 4GB patch applied to the game (patched EXE, not FNV4GB.exe), NVAC, New Vegas Anti-Stutter. How do I fix this?

Just mods no longer working or in development

    Posted: 02 Jan 2021 10:26 PM PST

so I saw the guy that made the just mods stop working on them. Which sucks yeah but not only that they just don't work in general except just vanilla sprint. so I was wondering if there's anyone working on a patch or making a fixed version of the mods. Just Hwheels no longer shows the interface even with UIO installed neither does just markers, just inventory, just hit markers, and just hold breath.
