    Anybody else relate to Dog/God?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 01:49 AM PST

I guess it is a pretty typical trope on the duality of human nature (Probably inspired by dr. Jeckyll and mr. Hyde, one of my favorite books). But the constant identity grappling and lapses of judgement and character; all weighing on God's now lucid mind- forever. Of course, less schizophrenia and stealth boys involved, but damn hearing God talk about the weight he bears and his rational distrust for humanity is so heartbreaking. Especially the line "trust is a strong word... how about mutual need."

I hate seeing parts of myself in Dean as well, a fragile ego control freak combined with a quick temper. It was actually really concerning how conflicted his demeanor made me when I noticed it within myself.

The writing in Dead Money is just beautiful, it really experiments with the notion of human nature and trying to identify what that is exactly- is it bleak? Is it hopeful? Is it cooperative? Is it every man for himself? never thought a game would have me reflecting on my own life. It really is a great study for game theory, philosophy, and ethics. Thanks for reading!

I’ve finally played New Vegas enough to where Vault 22 only takes me 30 minutes to beat. This is the highlight of my entire year.

Finally discovered the excellence of the Novac player house.

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 11:15 PM PST

I finally discovered how to get the room in Novac. Although player housing on the Strip is straightforward to get, nothing beats the ease of access of the Novac room. It doesn't have the "from another age" grandeur of the Lucky 38, but when I'm out blasting Legion assassin teams, I want a quick place to zip back to, to drop off all the loot.

I'm taking on a lot of the quests outside the Strip so I can level up on the game base content, and so I discovered that finishing "Come Fly with Me" gives access to the Novac housing. It's too easy to just go straight to the Strip and be swept along to the Hoover Dam stuff. NO, DANG IT, I DON'T JUST WANT TO GET SWEPT ALONG. I'm going to EXPLORE this wonderful game!

So yeah. Novac house. Great hidey hole. Just off the fast travel exit on the highway, quick stop and go for busy Couriers.

Is there a mod regarding the House-NCR "alliance?"

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:28 AM PST

I have been attempting to find one for some time, I'm looking to do another playthrough, this time as the NCR, but I really can't fathom why I would ever kill Mr. House, it's genuinely illogical to me.

On top of that, I am more than certain that there was a cut path regarding this.

New Vegas refuses to use my graphics card, uses integrated graphics instead.

New Vegas refuses to use my graphics card, uses integrated graphics instead.

I recently reinstalled FNV and have been meaning to do a playthrough. Since I'm on Windows 10 I decided to follow the Viva New Vegas mod guide. When I was finished and launched the game, something was clearly wrong as it was running at 23~ frames per second.

I've tried forcing the game to use Nvidia graphics in the Nvidia control panel, as well as messing with my laptop's power settings, and I can't find any solutions that work for me.

    Specs:

    Intel® Core™ i7 8-Core Processor 10875H

    GeForce RTX 2060

    Mod List

Any help at all would be appreciated.

For the Math Wizards of New Vegas, how important is strength to melee weapon effectiveness?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 07:37 AM PST

By which I mean can you get by with lower strength and good melee weapon skill?

I plan to do a grunt build with the Survivalist Rifle for general use, a grenade rifle for those big targets/groups, and a knife for stealth/low ammo/casino defense.

My thinking was just pump melee weapons and get just enough strength for key perks so as to hopefully get my "perfect grunt". I checked the wiki on this topic and saw a lot of formulas written out that, to my smooth brain, seemed to tell me "get the strength requirements for the weapon then bump the associated skill"

Am I wrong in my assumptions? Thank you in advance

What is the best player home?

    Posted: 21 Dec 2020 04:28 AM PST

So ive always played vanilla but I think its high time I treat myself to some quality of life mods, Jsawyer, Beautification etc and a good player home.

I did a bit of research but tbh I'm not familiar with the best places to look so i have a slight idea of what's out there. The two I've come up with that sound the best is the mobile truck, because its lore-friendly(mostly) and besides just being quaint it provides an alternative to fast travel, which iv'e always disliked.

The other one being the Underground vault, I gather its not very lore-friendly and way more OP than I'm really looking for but it appeals to me in a unique way. My favorite player home system was in morrowind where your faction basically built you a seat of power, a stronghold reminiscent of true historical castles. A mini-fort which is garrisoned by a few for quality of life and to guard it. It also required a few quests and time to make which I found really compelling and from what i gather so does this mod.

TLDR; I'm looking for a good player home mod or otherwise, the more lore friendly the better, and if there is a quest involved it would be perfect. Do you have any good advice or just interesting mods to check out in general, I would appreciate it a lot! :D

The expansion DLC's all seem to focus on the theme of 'letting go'

    Posted: 20 Dec 2020 02:13 PM PST

Old World Blues: Letting go of the past to start again. Convincing the brain tank not to probe and treat the Mojave as a petri dish.

Honest Hearts: Letting go of the anger to start again. Convincing Joshua Graham to let go of his rage to be the leader his tribe needs him to be.

Dead Money: Letting go of the greed to start again. Pulling yourself away from the Sierra Madre and it's technology so you don't end up like Elijah.

Lonesome Road: Letting go of home to start again. Getting Ulysses to stop going down his destructive path with the nuclear warheads for him to find a new home.
