So how do the boomers know about the battle of hover dam?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 07:20 AM PST

I was just doing the boomer quests around nellis when one of them in passing something like "war is just on the horizon". The boomers have been annihilating anyone in sight for years, how do they know about the battle of hoover dam let alone the upcoming one?

Does Rex have a fourth brain / NCR dog brain?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 09:08 AM PST

Just about every video, guide, and discussion I've seen only mentions being able to collect the brains of Rey, Violetta, and Lupa. However, the Fallout wiki mentions a fourth option, which "is not marked during the quest unless Old Lady Gibson has been killed, in which case Rey will no longer be there, and the map marker will give directions to HELIOS One, to gain an NCR guard dog brain with no extra benefit to Rex."

I haven't been able to replicate this myself, and since there's no info about this mythical fourth brain basically anywhere else even on the wiki, I'd chalk it up to some overzealous user. Still, couldn't hurt to ask around about this.

yes there's a [citation needed] tag but I just added it so ¯\(ツ)

    New Vegas Factions and Ending

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 01:30 AM PST

Ok....So because i am new here, i would love to open a discussion post:
Who do you help claim dominion over the Mojave and why? Who do you think is ultimately the "best" choice and why?

My personal ranking, from best to worst for the Mojave and Mankind as a whole is:

    1. House --> He has a lot of old world knowledge and has an actual, forward thinking vision for bringing humanity back to a space age civilization and may actually have the intelligence and ability to pull it off. This is, to me, almost certainly the best long term solution, even if its potentially less stable than the NCR

    2. NCR --> They have high taxes but ultimately offer great benefits to stability, safety and commerce. Will probably turn the mojave into a place that is safe to live in and developes a stable society more quickly than Mr House would. Unlike Mr house, they are probably to unwieldy, corrupt and slow to realise the kind of Blue sky aspirations a dedicated genius like house might pull off.

    3. The Legion --> I mean...they are the Legion. They are not really a viable Option. If you save caesar they MIGHT be able to keep the Mojave under control for his life time but given everything we see in the series, there is no way they will form a stable empire. If caesar dies and Lanius takes over, i give them 20 years of slavery and misery at best before the NCR comes rolling back in and takes over.

Yes man is the courier taking over, so that is strongly dependant on Head-canon about what your courier will do. What is your take?

How static (if at all) are the enemies/quests in this game?

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 01:36 AM PST

The last Fallout game I played was FO3 which somewhat took the Oblivion/Skyrim approach where all enemies/quests/rewards change based on your own level. There's nothing necessarily wrong with that, but it isn't what I enjoy. I much preferred FO2 which stuck to the more traditional static enemies method.

I'm told NV is more like FO2 when it comes to static enemies, is that accurate?

    Hardcore Companions and Cazadors

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 11:42 PM PST

Cazador's are lethal to Companions. Companions cannot be cured of the poison Most of us know this already. In regular mode companions cannot suffer a permanent death unless they become hostile and you kill them or you sacrifice them during certain Quests. HOWEVER on Hardcore Mode when they die it is permanent. It only takes one Cazador sting to fuck up your whole playthrough, causing you to reload if possible. There is also a glitch that if you heal a companion with a stimpack while they are poisoned it will cause the Venom to work faster until death. BUT!!!! If you remove everything out of their inventory and dismiss them, send them home, this cures them of the poison you can then simply go back to where you picked them up and recruit them again. The only companion I had an issue doing this with was Cass because she has a strong dislike of negative Karma talking to Cass with below neutral Karma and failing the speech check will cause her to become aggressive and attack or refuse to be your companion ceasing all conversation you will not be able to interact with her anymore

For some reason the Level 10 and Level 20 achievements don't trigger.

    Posted: 02 Nov 2020 07:01 AM PST

Hello there. I played new vegas a dozen times. Got almost every achievement (minus the karawan ones for obvious reasons) but for some reason the ones you get for reaching level 10 and 20 don't work for me. Does anyone else have this problem or knows what I can do? Thanks in advance.

I can’t wait to see what else this game has to offer

    Posted: 01 Nov 2020 10:08 PM PST

I remember seeing a while ago that Honest Hearts is New Vegas's worst dlc. I just played through it(on my second ever run now, the first I didn't have any of the dlcs) and by god was it enjoyable. Zion was a beautiful place to explore, and while maybe not fully fleshed out at least 3 of the characters stood out to me, mainly Joshua Graham(obviously). If Honest Hearts is considered the "worst" dlc New Vegas has to offer, well I can't wait to see what's next. I'm going to progress a little bit more in the story before I start Old War Blues or Dead Money, but I cannot wait to see what they will throw at me.
