Do Wastelanders consider themselves as Americans?

America itself was destroyed during the great war, the government ceased to exist, and whatever remained did in the form of the Enclave. The Enclave obviously consider themselves as americans, but what about the rest of the wastelanders, or the NCR citizens.

Do some wastelander simply believe that they don't belong to any country at all, that they simply live and everything around them is wasteland regardless of what country it used to be before?

Do NCR citizens consider their country as a successor of America, perhaps they consider themselves as big and similar enough to what Pre-War USA was to call themselves as Americans?

What is the purpose of the Cloud and why is it at the Sierra Madre?

    Posted: 07 Oct 2020 07:39 PM PDT

From my understanding, Sinclair got funding from Big MT in exchange for letting them run some experiments at the resort. And this makes sense for a lot of the technology there. Holograms for vendors and security, vending machines for nearly limitless food and items, etc. But the existence (and purpose) of the Cloud always confused me.

For starters, it doesn't go away, in fact, it spreads. Assuming it's a chemical weapon (which I think it is, I really can't think of any other use), that seems like a major flaw. Second, it makes its targets virtually immortal, which is like the opposite of what a weapon should do. Now, granted, you could say this is a prototype, and that the scientists didn't know what would happen, hence it being at the Madre for testing, which brings me to my second question:

Why the hell would that be at a casino, of all places? The other technologies make loads of sense and would get tons of usage just during the normal operations of the casino, but how would you manage to test a massive red cloud on people in the middle of a massive resort? I'm aware that the construction workers were "accidentally" exposed to it (hence the hazmat suits, and later ghost people) but it seems impractical and hard to do without others realizing, even the medical staff was in confused when examining their injuries from the Cloud.

Again, these are just my interpretations, and I might be going off of incorrect information, I look forward to the responses. Thanks :)

How do people trade in Nuka World if you have to go throw the Gauntlet to get there?

Can someone give me a lore explanation as to how people can possibly trade in Nuka World if the only way into Nuka World is through an impossible gauntlet, If Overboss Colter just kills everyone. And how did Sierra Petrovita manage to survive the gauntlet. I'm playing Nuka World for the second time right now and the idea just crossed my mind.
