Why are there power armor stations at the Red Rocket Truck stops?

Doesnt seem like a reasonable place for one, but almost every truck stop has one.

How did those people who worship atom in the glowing sea survive with such rad around?

Why do NCR troops wear such heavy clothing if patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for the nuclear winter?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 03:47 PM PDT

That's been always bothering me in the game. It's supposedly so hot that they constantly repeat this one line yet they wear clothes that look really heavy and warm.

I understand that soldiers can't just wear tank tops and shorts, but there must be clothing that's lighter than their jackets and stuff. I mean, aren't they at the risk of heatstroke?

    Are there Fallout Novels?

    Posted: 20 Aug 2020 03:17 AM PDT

I'm currently read Coopers Caravan, I was wondering if there are other fallout books/novels or short stories.

How would diseases and illnesses be treated after the great war?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 04:37 AM PDT

Hi all, I wanted to ask how diseases, viruses, severe illnesses, and other health defects would be treated after the great war? It occurred to me that after the world was reduced to cinders and two-thirds of the population dead how diseases, illnesses, viruses and etc would be treated and dealt with. For example, here, in reality, we have the SARS-CoV-2 (Causes COVID-19) which already has proven difficult in developing third world countries to deal with and even first world countries, It makes me wonder what would happen if there was a pandemic potential virus like influenza, ebola or the novel coronavirus in the fallout universe and the effects it would have on the remaining population along with how long it will take to find a vaccine or treatment. now there are factions such as the Enclave, Institute, Followers of the apocalypse, etc who would have medical knowledge in dealing with such illnesses, however, we don't get to see first hand in the fallout series diseases other than references to plague and of course the Forced Evolutionary Virus (FEV) which is featured in every fallout game. It'll be interesting to hear people's opinions, knowledge on this topic, and the how factor.

What other uses could power armor have been used for?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 02:01 PM PDT

So fallout 76 did something very interesting with the lore of power armor, as much as some people hate the atom shop (I'm neutral to the idea, it's a necessary evil for an online game) it has some interesting items. One of my favorites is the new forms of power armor found as skins in the game. While these varieties of armor don't come with new stats and aren't truly their own armor, it brings up an interesting question, what was power armor used for outside of the military? The police armor is my main example. It makes sense that swat teams would have power armor to some extent. It's easy to imagine that there was construction power armor as well, diving armor, hazmat armor, etc. if you don't think atom shop items count as cannon (I think it's about 50/50) then we still have the excavation power armor, a vanilla example of armor used for non combat roles. As for the more "out there" power armors like liberty prime and the horsemen armors, I think those could be counted as either non canon or custom variants made by us wastelanders. It makes sense as well why we don't see some of these armors in later games, it would have been the easiest to access to survivors and were most likely taken and striped for parts. It's likely a lot of the frames used for raider power armor once housed these more common armor varieties. Power armor is a very interesting aspect of the wasteland and I'd love to see it explored more with more varieties of pre and post war armors for different uses

Were there any cases of people being let into a vault even if they didn’t have a spot within it?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 01:16 PM PDT

It's implied that as the bombs began to fall, some people made their way towards vaults even if they didn't have a place within the vault. Were there any cases of vaults letting people in regardless?

How long after The Great War did 'caps' emerge as the currency of the Wasteland?

    Posted: 19 Aug 2020 04:23 PM PDT

Curious about this, since Fallout 76 appears to play fast and loose with the lore, it's got me wondering when (if there's an established time) was it agreed that caps were going to be the economic unit for trade in the Wastes.

The train stations in Appalachia have Ammo machines which sell ammunition for 4 caps or more per bullet. That seems like a 'Pre-War' pricing strategy using a 'Post-War' currency.

No denizens of Vault 76 want to pay more than 1 cap for a bullet, so who set up this pricing strategy in those ammo machines? What happened to the people who set that pricing strategy in those machines?
