Does Fallout 76 actually do away with the amount of lore people say it does?

I mainly stick to 1-4 and New Vegas but I played 76 for a bit at launch and picked it up again about a week ago. I remember one of the big issues that people had for the game was that it didn't seem to care about established lore but I haven't really seen stuff in game that doesn't pay attention to what's already happened in previous games. Is it really that bad? What are the major disparities?

Why doesn’t everyone flock to NCR? Shouldn’t it be a dream of every wastelander to become an NCR citizen?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 12:54 PM PDT

With the way NCR is (as a kind of "developed" nation) shouldn't it be a literal heaven that every Wastelander wants to travel to?

I can kinda understand that someone who lives in Boston or the Capital wasteland wouldn't want to risk such a long travel, but it seems to me like everyone from the Mojave at least (with exception of the Strip) should want to just up and relocate closer to the actual civilization.

Yet it seems that plenty of people (at least in FNV) dislike NCR and their reasons seem so... insignificant when compared to what they could be getting. Like yeah the NCR isn't perfect but you can either live in an actual developed republic or you can live in a lawless wasteland in your hut made out of scraps and always at risk from Raiders and such.

On that note, it seems that the idea of joining the NCR (in a positive tone) is barely every mentioned in-games. Anytime I hear of NCR and how good it is compared to wasteland in general, I think to myself that I'd rather die on my way to Shady Sands than to just keep on living as the majority of folks in the universe live.

Why are the assault rifles so different across games

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 03:57 PM PDT

Im just wondering why the assault rifle looks so different across games, ie the R91 in F3, the assault carbinebin NV and whatever fallout 4 has.

Do we know what Roger Maxson was doing around the time of Fallout 76?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 06:51 PM PDT

As of today in Appalachia, there's a new person named Russell Dorsey out by the Atlas Observatory, asking the dwellers for help procuring supplies in preparation for the now-incoming BOS. If you question him about it, he mentions that the BOS that are coming are actually coming from California; it's not just some surviving members of Taggerdy's group like people might have expected. If they're coming from the west coast, I'm curious to know if there's any chance we could see Roger Maxson traveling among them. Is there any mention in the lore of what Maxson is doing during 2102-2103? We know he had a pretty strong connection with the Appalachian chapter, and was good friends with Taggerdy, so it doesn't seem entirely out of the question.

    Major Trade Caravan Companies

What is the reach of some of the more major caravan companies in the wastes? Has anyone been successful in linking the coasts with trade routes?

What could work as symbolism related to Tenpenny Tower?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:40 AM PDT

I'm in the middle of a personal attempt to redesign or design from the ground up flag fo different factions and settlements in Fallout 3. Up until now I've done some of the easier ones, redesigned BoS and Enclave, Republic of Dave, Megaton, Oasis and the Outcasts. Right now I'm trying to make a flag for Tenpenny Tower but I can't think of any lore related element to add into it. Any suggestions?

How were the Vaults meant to be used?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 11:35 AM PDT

So, I know that the Vaults were not designed to protect humanity in the event of nuclear war, but as test beds for various social/scientific experiments. However, this seems odd to me. Did the people who commissioned the Vaults think that nuclear war would happen? Because if they did, then it seems stupid to perform such horrific and unethical experiments on the last of humanity. I mean, who would be left to make use of the data? And the harm done to the population by the tests seems to vastly outweigh the value of the data in the post-apocalypse.

Inversely, did they think that a nuclear war wasn't going to happen? That seems unlikely, since the Vault Tec staff were fine with continuing the tests in the face of the apocalypse. But, even ignoring that, how did the Gov't plan on dissapearing all those people for decades in the Vaults?

My ultimate question is this: In the times where the Vaults were first being built, what was their intended purpose? Because it seems to me that Vault Tec knew that nuclear war was on the horizon, but chose to build the vaults as experiment chambers anyways for... what reason?

What were the processes and arrangements put in place to ensure Mr House's longevity in New Vegas?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 09:59 AM PDT

Obviously he planned ahead to be in the sterile capsule and to operate mainly via neurolink to a computer, but is there any lore surrounding how he came to be in the capsule and why he made that decision? Thanks in advance!

In Vault 11, was there anyone actually watching the dwellers?

    Posted: 04 Aug 2020 01:06 PM PDT

Vault 11 was the one in which the dwellers were told that one member had to be sacrificed each year to prevent the death of everyone. Eventually the last 5 people remaining did not elect anyone and were freed from the vault. The first overseer clearly did not know that it was all a setup and that refusing to elect someone would've saved them all in the beginning. Did the dwellers think that someone was watching them to make sure that one person died, or did they know that the sacrifice was somehow automated?
