Are there "reverse-ghouls" who only lost their minds but kept their human appearance? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 03:57 PM PDT It's interesting to me that ghouls apparently fall into only two types: human-like ghouls whose minds appear fully intact and feral ghouls who are effectively beasts. They're otherwise the same: radiation-immune, apparently ageless, rotted in appearance, etc. But why is the brain the only organ that is apparently spared ghoulification? Could the reverse happen - a human whose mind is irradiated to the point of bestial madness but otherwise appearing fully human? I'm wondering if such a "reverse-ghoul" exists: Human in appearance, but with a rotted mind. These reverse-ghouls might account for many of the bizarre mad raiders around the Wasteland. Further, are there any ghouls that are in some in-between state in other organs? For instance, I'm wondering if the Cabots are a special kind of ghoul, a type that gets to keep all of its human attributes while still getting the agelessness of ghouls; it's interesting that Lorenzo's artifact modifies radiation weapons when it's also the source of their longevity serum. It makes me wonder whether the Cabots are just ghouls who manage to keep their original flesh structure by taking a special serum. They don't seem to have reproduced in the last two centuries, which is suggestive of ghouldom. Are ghouls really so binary in nature, or is there other lore that suggests ghoulification is actually a "spectrum mutation"? [link] [comments] |
Fortifications around the White House Posted: 27 Jul 2020 03:05 AM PDT In Fallout 3, we see the Mutants have occupied trenches and bunkers in front of the White House. How did they get there? My first guess is that the Super Mutants constructed them and while that seems to make sense, it's very obvious that the D.C. Mutants lack the leadership, organisation and even intelligence to actually dig in around D.C.. Their singular goal is dump people in FEV, something they don't even understand, and the only semblance of leadership D.C.'s mutants have are the Brutes, how can a group whose collective intelligence only amounts to the knowledge that 'Green goo make mutant' dig those trenches and pile those sandbags, let alone have the patience to do so? Why are hub flowers called soot flowers in fo76? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 03:35 PM PDT I noticed on the 'Know your plants' poster in the wall decor shows a hubflower which looks identical to a soot flower. A brief search had me realize that hub flowers are from fo4. To me, this seems like great attention to detail, but why are they different? [link] [comments] |

Is it ever directly stated that all of the NCR Salvaged Power Armor is from the NCR BOS war? Posted: 28 Jul 2020 01:03 AM PDT If so, then the whole PA Training fiasco would make sense given that the BOS demonstrated self destruction in Fallout 4. [link] [comments] |
Does the NCR follow the Geneva Convention? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 10:02 PM PDT I remember watching a couple NCR lore videos about the NCR-Enclave War and some said high ranking Enclave officials were sent to court or executed for war crimes. Does this mean the NCR follows the Geneva Convention or at least some Post-War equivalent? If so what other factions would follow these rules? [link] [comments] |
How do the radio hosts get news updates? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 08:51 PM PDT For example, how would Three Dog know that I detonated the bomb in Megaton? Yeah alright, it's hard to miss a nuclear explosion on your doorstep but how would he know I pushed the button? [link] [comments] |
What was the point of all the vault tec experiments if no one was around to archive all of them? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 06:45 PM PDT Was replaying fallout 4s story and decided to look more into the story of places. Was reading through the terminals in vault 111 and seen that they got no all clear or any type of response back from HQ. If that's the case then why do the experiments ? It seems a lot of vaults never got any communication from HQ. It leaves me wondering [link] [comments] |
Posted: 27 Jul 2020 07:49 PM PDT I've only played fallout 4 so my enclave knowledge is very limited. But If i remember what I've heard correctly then a decent bit of enclave stuff was destroyed. I know they lost an oil rig in one of the first 2 games and the brotherhood beat them pretty bad in 3. Is there any enclave left that's actually powerful and influential? Like maybe the Chicago group ED E mentioned. [link] [comments] |

Are items in the Atom Shop not cannon as long as they are not shown or being worn by any NPCs? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 07:25 AM PDT This makes the game a helluva lot more lore friendly and plus, makes sense. But what do you guys think? [link] [comments] |

How will the Institute achieve anything? Posted: 27 Jul 2020 06:09 AM PDT Okay, so this is a little bit of an obtuse question. The institute wants to 'save humanity' and to 'rebuild civilisation', that much we know. But, what are the mechanics of their aims? Such as, they attempt to introduce a new crop with a much higher yield and nutritional value at Warwick homestead, however this is simply introducing a new crop. Is the Institute's aim to build new infrastructure and housing, making Warwick the centre point? Do they have any interest in capturing land and creating safe areas? What are the steps the institute is planning on taking to produce their second chance for civilisation. I've played fallout 4 for about 1000 hours now, and I never really came across any real plans the institute had aside from make slaves and kill anyone who doesn't like their slaves or the production there of [link] [comments] |
