As the console generation ends, looking back at my first Xbox One title makes me sentimental

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 08:41 AM PDT

When I first got my Xbox One for Christmas 2015, me and my brother each got one game to go with it. My brother got NBA 2K16, while I got Fallout 4. It seemed like an odd choice from my brother, as I couldn't play it with friends but when I opened it I was extremely excited to play it, as it was my first Fallout game.

While I admit it isn't the best in the series (personally I love New Vegas the most), I still have a special place for it and it is even one of my favorite games ever. The multiple playthroughs I have had with it have all been enjoyable. More than enjoyable.

As this generation of consoles ends, I think my love of single player games began at the start of this generation with my first playthrough of Fallout 4. I'm thankful for that, and I can't stress that enough.

(FO3) I think James is a good person but an AWFUL dad.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 01:30 PM PDT

I think his hopes for Project Purity are noble and his desire to help others makes him a good person but he's an awful father to the Lone Wonderer.

When we meet Dad, he's apologetic but scolds us for coming to find him. His concern is really understandable but then directly after that he sends you to risk your life because he and his little nerd friends are weak. He puts the life of his scientists that he hasn't seen in TWO DECADES over the life of his child. Throughout our time together, he shows very little care or remorse for leaving and when the LW chooses the dialogue option closest to totally telling him off, he says "I'm sorry to hear you feel that way." like some sort of uncaring douche. I didn't feel much when he got zapped because he didn't feel much towards the LW 🤷‍♀️.

(Side note: His death makes you deal with the worst fallout character ever: Madison Li. Even with good karma and polite dialogue options, she's a total b**ch to you for no reason. That alone is enough to hate him.)

Bethesda - Please port Fallout 1 and 2 to mobile devices and consoles!

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 07:02 PM PDT

Fallout 1 and 2 laid the foundation for the series we have all come to enjoy today, but many may never have experienced them due to their age and PC exclusivity. I believe that if these classic titles were to be ported to consoles and mobile devices similarly to the classic Doom games last year, many Fallout fans who have never experienced the originals would be able to enjoy them for themselves and those who have played them would have a means to bring a true main series Fallout game with them wherever they go. I have spent many hours in Fallout 1 and 2 and would 100% repurchase them on my phone or on Switch and am sure many others would as well. BGS, please port these games to more platforms!

I just want to share my favorite aspect of Fallout 4 and why it's my favorite Fallout

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 02:41 PM PDT

It doesn't have the complex story or the roleplaying opportunities of NV, and it doesn't have the 'whimsy' I think Fallout 3 had, and as much of a diehard New Englander as I am, the Commonwealth doesn't hold a candle to Appalachia... so what is it that makes Fallout 4 my favorite Fallout?

The Commonwealth is hopeless when you first step foot in it, but as you play through (assuming you're playing a well-intentioned sole survivor), it comes back to life. Not passively, not randomly, but you, the player make it actively and perceptibly come back to life through your own efforts and actions.

Whether you're building satellite farms for the Brotherhood, planting your Raider flags in the corpses of the innocent, constructing test sights for the Institute, establishing networks for the Railroad, or genuinely trying to build a free, sovereign, independent nation in the Commonwealth under the Minutemen flag, the core of the game isn't the main story (thank god) but the act of exploring, scavenging, and plundering the desiccated ruins of the Boston area for scrap, supplies, and materials with which you can rebuild society in your own vision.

As you slowly and meticulously build radio beacons, recruit fresh faces, and build up your settlements to livable standards while establishing trade routes with Local Leader, the Commonwealth literally comes back to life in a way that 3, NV, and 76, respectfully, don't.

In terms of gameplay, because enemies and junk respawn, you are given a gameplay loop that allows you to keep exploring new nooks and crannies of the charming Commonwealth until you effectively build every settlement to full village status - you never once have to worry about capping your 'explored locations' counter. In 3 and NV, junk was essentially useless (didn't even have it's own category), so the only reason to revisit specific locations was to fight specific enemy types because combat elsewhere was sort of hard to find. In 4, I can effectively get as many years as I want out of post-apocalyptic Boston because every time I load up the game, I just choose a direction to walk and there will be random events, junk to find, and lewt to plunder from legendary enemies. This effectively means that unlike 3 and NV, I never have to stop playing simply because I 'ran out of stuff to do' and can continue to explore and fight enemies to my heart's content.

4 absolutely has it's downsides that really effected my initial impressions of it, but years later it's growing on me as I realize just how much I love the organic loop that keeps me loading up the game:

    KILL LOOT RETURN

And the more I do this loop, the more the Commonwealth rebuilds and springs back to life through my own actions.

Just wanted to share my thoughts to a sub that more or less loves picking on my favorite Fallout (though most criticism is deserved).

Just thought of a weird idea for a mod

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:18 AM PDT

So you know how there are all of those mods for female characters to have good clear skin well why not make ones for dudes (no homo) even though it is pretty weird and gay but this what I thought off after getting ads on spotify and being on 3 hours of sleep Edit: I'm talking about fallout 4 since I mainly see mods for it that deal with this

Played Fallout 3 but feel like something's missing in Fallout 4

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:03 AM PDT

I played a bunch of Fallout 3, didn't complete the main quest but a lot of side quests.

I feel like something is missing or the experience is way different in Fallout 4 and I'm not sure if it's good or bad. The crafting is pretty fun as is the settlement part. But is that the main loop? Explore and scavenge and farm for adhesive to make better guns?

In Fallout 3, I only felt the need to hoard ammo and weapons and armor to repair my stuff but now it's a whole looting mentality, and I'm not sure when or what weapons or armour to pick up if I haven't marked it like copper or fiber optics

A decent aluminum stash in fo4

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 09:33 PM PDT

Under the "Boston Police Rationing Site" there is a tunnel system underneath, explore the whole place and look under the water for aluminum cans. ( I would recommend using level two of the scrapper perk) I found around 35 cans.(70 aluminum)

    Original NV promo posters

Sadly it's time for me to let go of these posters since I'm moving cross country and they can't come along. I'd love for a collector to enjoy them as much as I have. They're on eBay right now, but I'd love to get them in the hands of another Redditor!

[PS4] Fallout 4 GOTY edition voucher code not working

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:49 AM PDT

I got the game a few months back but ended up not playing it, although my brother did on his account. I remember entering the voucher code on my account first though since my brother is too young to understand how the codes work anyway. I didn't check if the dlc has registered back then, since I assumed that the prompt after redeeming a code saying that the code has been successfully redeemed was good enough.

Anyway, I decided to play the game today and was expecting to access the dlc after the update finished, but then when I checked the "Add-ons" part of the title screen it said the all of the 6 DLCs were not installed. I've reentered the code multiple times now just to check, and it seems fishy that all that appears afterwards is a prompt saying "Thank you, the promotion code has been redeemed" but no sign of the dlc anywhere.

My PS4 is activated as primary, I've tried restoring licenses, I've restarted my console multiple times. STILL I am not seeing any sign of the DLC.

Can anyone help with this problem? I'd hate to see that I wasted money on this game that I thought was pretty cool.

EDIT: I'm trying to reinstall the game now, I hope this works. It also turns out that I redeemed the code already on September 21, 2019. It's in my transaction history.

Is it worth it to buy fallout new vegas? (XBOX1)

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 02:39 AM PDT

So far I've been playing fallout 4. It's the first game ive played in fallout and I've been wanting to try the others. I've been thinking of trying new vegas and fallout 3 and I know that I can get new Vegas on xbox 1.

My main question is, is it worth it to buy it on the xbox 1?

Would it be wiser to just get it on PC?

I'm confused. Is Fallout Wastland Warfare RPG the official one, or is it Fallout 2d20 Beta?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2020 01:32 AM PDT

This is related to the new RPGs rather than the videogames, but I want to know which one is the official one. They both sell and aren't open source, so I know they're not fan games (unless they're selling these fan games). Any answers? Also if anyone had anything I should know about either. How good are they? Are they easy or hard? My players prefer hard games. Thanks.

Make A Fallout Series in the blueprint of AHS

    Posted: 09 Jul 2020 10:51 AM PDT

Hear me out here, the concept is simple.

It's a Fallout TV show that has a different plot line every season. Each season, we follow a different vault from the start of the great war, until the vault is Opened, Exited, Destroyed, etc. Each season, the audience learns a bit more about Vault-Tec and its role (or lack thereof) in the great war. Since each vault is essentially it's own containerized experiment, it's an ideal candidate for this type of show framework.

This gives us the opportunity to see the start of the great war and its immediate fallout from a different perspective every season. And maybe we will even get a chance to see how some of the vaults that we explore in the games got to where they are!

    What do you all think?
