What is the saddest thing in fallout? Posted: 17 Jun 2020 10:25 PM PDT I was playing New Vegas and as usual my heart broke for the ghost people. To me being locked inside a suit, always feeling claustrophobic but never being able to feel things with your hands, is the most horrifying thing I can imagine. And then I got started thinking about what the saddest creature is in the wasteland. Some things I think of right off the bat are centaurs, super mutants, ghost people, and Harold. What do you guys feel leads the worst existence in the wasteland? [link] [comments] |
How advanced do you guys think spaceships were? Posted: 18 Jun 2020 01:36 AM PDT The ones shown in NV at the repconn and in that quest are fairly slim, and pretty small, What do you guys think? [link] [comments] |

Regarding the intro music post Posted: 17 Jun 2020 09:30 PM PDT I really love the intro of Fo76 when they introduced Nuclear Winter. Not a huge Nuclear Winter fan but this intro gives me chills every time and is right up there for me with Inon Zur's best pieces. Wish it would come back in the rotation. [link] [comments] |
Fallout New Vegas had the best armor in the series Posted: 18 Jun 2020 01:42 AM PDT There's armor that makes you look like a mercenary, armor that makes you look like a warrior, power armor that you can actually wear all the time, armor that makes you look like a rugged badass, etc. The Riot Gear sets from Lonesome Road are the best designed "military gear sets" I've seen in any video game ever. It's like they took the combat armor from Jin-Roh, removed the Nazi influences, added a trench coat, and made it actually practical to wear during a war. I've yet to see any Fallout game have such a wide variety of armor sets that still look practical besides New Vegas. [link] [comments] |
Why Dead Money Is Possibly One Of The Best Fallout DLCs Of All Time Posted: 17 Jun 2020 07:51 AM PDT Hear me out. I know there are other great DLCs, Lonesome Road, Far Harbor, Point Lookout, just to name a few, but this is just my opinion on Dead Money. Dead Money is more than a DLC, in my opinion. It's a lesson. You begin the DLC by being gassed and dragged to a pre-war casino, the Sierra Madre. You wake up with a stiff feeling around your neck, which obviously turns out to be the bomb-collar. You probably already know the story of the DLC, so I won't go too deep into the story of you, the Courier. Instead, I'll go into the story of the others. Dog/God, the highly intelligent yet extremely daft super mutant ends up having an existential crisis and attempts to burn down the casino along with everybody else inside of it, purely to end his misery. You stop this (obviously) and if you've got a high enough skill (I forget which one) you can convince his split personalities to unite into one. He thanks you, but he's not quite sure what for. Christine, the mute Circle of Steel member who is only at the casino to hunt and kill Elijah, the old man, for betraying the Brotherhood and losing at Helios One, also has a pretty deep backstory. She arrived at the Sierra Madre after having tracked Elijah through Big Mountain, only to get captured by Dean Domino and forced into an auto-doc, which irreversibly damaged her, both mentally and physically. She, however, is the person who helps you access the vault and finish the DLC. Not to mention she has story outside of the DLC, as she is quite possibly the lover Veronica mentions a few times, and that she is a COS member. Dean Domino is the most interesting character in my opinion. He collaborated with Vera before the bombs dropped to rob the casino, which obviously never happened because he is still trying to get inside. He put Christine into the auto-doc in order to change up her voice and force her to sound like Vera, whose voice was programmed to be the key to access the vault. This didn't work, however, and Christine was left as a mute. However she does later regain her voice, in the form of Vera's, and helps you to unlock the vault by recording herself saying the phrase Vera would have needed to say to access the vault before the war. Dean Domino hasn't only done this to Christine, as from the messages we see scribbled upon the walls throughout the Villa we know Elijah has brought others here before, but human greed caused them to kill each other, resulting in him linking the collars to all blow up if one dies. You finally confront Dean in the theatre, which is where what you originally say to him when you meet him matters. If you call him arrogant and act better than him when you meet him in the Villa, he will be hostile no matter what you say. If you go along with his plan and listen to what he has to say, he will cooperate with you and give you the key. (Keep in mind if you kill him his collar activates and you are given less than a minute to run and hide in order to keep your collar from activating and killing you as well.) But finally I will get to the point. When you finally access the vault, it closes behind you. Here you are given multiple ways to play this out. One of these ways is to accidentally (or intentionally!) access the file that told you not to access it, locking you inside the vault and ending your game entirely, not just the DLC. Another option is to not open this file, and instead Elijah will appear on the screen above you and begin talking. You can convince him to come down to the vault, and he will. This is when the most crucial and important part of the entire DLC, if not the entire game is. This part exposes your greed, not the Courier's greed, YOUR greed. You, the player. If you choose to take all the gold bars, it will not be possible to exit the vault without cheating or exploiting, assuming Elijah sees you when he enters the vault. You can, however, sneak past Elijah before he activates the blue barriers and escape with all 37 bars of gold. This is extremely hard, however, not impossible. Or, you could decide that you want to live and only take a few gold bars, which each still sell for ~8k - 10k caps if you find the right buyer. (Personally, I go to the gun runners robot.) If you take all 37 gold bars and Elijah spots you, he will activate the barrier, you will have to kill him, and run out the same way you came in. However, with so much weight on you you are unable to run or jump, making it impossible to leave the vault in the given time. The final option is to side with Elijah and release an army of ghost people and the red cloud upon the Mojave Desert (basically the DUST mod but actually happens), although I know barely anybody who chooses that option as it also ends your game permanently. And that is why Dead Money is personally one of my favorite DLCs in the entire series. Because it acts more like a lesson than a DLC (though it is an amazing DLC without the "lesson"). It exposes you to yourself, forcing you to choose either a potentially deadly route, or not succumb to the same greed all the people before you had, and leave with your life. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. If I missed anything PLEASE let me know in the comments as I've not played Dead Money in a hot minute, and am only going on what I remember. [link] [comments] |
We should be able to get an alien companion in the next fallout Posted: 17 Jun 2020 09:03 PM PDT From fallout 2 onwards, we have been seeing aliens and their technology in every game. Fallout 3 even had a whole DLC about them, so it is not something out of the canon. Plus, we already had super mutants, ghouls, robots, synths and deathclaws, so its not like it will be destroying the game's immersion. It would also be great to further develop their relationship with the US government and the enclave (seeing as there were a lot of alien tech at adams air force base) by simply replacing the alien random encounter every recent game had with a whole quest about them, which could serve as a plot hook for their past involvement in the Great War. Mothman Cultists, this is YOUR MOMENT! Posted: 17 Jun 2020 08:34 AM PDT A growing chorus of West Virginians are demanding the state replace all of its Confederate statues with Statues of THE MOTHMAN! [link] [comments] |
Gun Comparison: Which Ones Better Posted: 17 Jun 2020 10:24 PM PDT So I cam across two legendary enemies (a ghoul and a glowing molerat) and got two laser muskets out of em. One is a freezing laser musket that does 10 points of cryo damage and will freeze targets on critical hits, while the other is a quicdraw laser musket that costs says "Costs 25% less Action Points" now, I'm not quite sure what this means, as I pretty sure using a gun dosent cost AP, but I assume its referring to V.A.T.S, anywho, all I wanna know is which one is better, aka, which one should I use? Who’s the most annoying FO4 NPC? Posted: 17 Jun 2020 12:19 PM PDT After my first play-through, Preston was my answer 10/10 times. But now, I find Drummer Boy to be vastly irritating. He just runs around behind me and talks to me while I'm crafting and shit and doesn't give me any missions. It might be a bug but god damn this dude kills me. Mama Murphy's up there as well, but I just gave her so many chems she just died. Every time I go to Sanctuary I sit in her chair to remind myself how great it is to have her out of the way. If you could be a part of any faction in any fallout which one would you choose? Posted: 18 Jun 2020 03:50 AM PDT In my personal opinion I would probably choose the Followers of Apocalypse. They are for the most part genuine people. They care for and treat wounded and the sick. They are also pretty neutral aswell which is a plus. Living in a world like that I would love to have medics as friends, and learn about treating all kinds of ailments. They are very welcoming and knowledgeable which is a very big plus. That's my answer. I'm really excited to see which faction everyone else would choose. [link] [comments] |
Anyone ever feel like they’ve built too many settlements? Posted: 17 Jun 2020 07:05 PM PDT I've gotten back into Fallout 4 and the first thing I did was build this rather sizable settlement and spent a good amount of time making it my home, but then I wanted something smaller so I built another settlement a little ways away, but now I'm not sure about that one. My issue is with building all these settlements, I can't decide which one I should use to store my stuff and I feel that I am building too many bases and should just focus on one, does anyone else have this issue? I am a big fan of playerhomes in games but I feel that it's hindering my playthrough a little seeing how my save game is over 24 hours in playtime, and I'm level 30 without even doing any quests yet due to the xp from construction. Charismatic (with a twist) character concept Posted: 17 Jun 2020 09:35 PM PDT So how do I put this the character I'm looking for is a character that is charismatic sneaky and good with a grenade launcher yeah I know a grenade launcher isn't sneaky but is for just pure insanity [link] [comments] |

TIL: Mister Gutsy and how I’ve been saying it wrong. Posted: 17 Jun 2020 05:44 PM PDT Today I learned that the combat variant of Mister Handy is Mister Gutsy. I don't know why, but I've been reading it as "Gusty". [link] [comments] |

I de-made Fallout 3 DLC into a PS1 game. Posted: 17 Jun 2020 01:19 PM PDT Hi everyone, as a Fallout fan I had a go at creating a Fallout demake, and I thought Mothership Zeta needed some love. It's only the opening of the DLC. [link] [comments] |
[Fo4] Why do people hate fallout 4? Posted: 17 Jun 2020 05:09 AM PDT I understand that the story is underwhelming and it's not really an rpg because choices dont matter but it has other shit going for it! Why does it deserve to he bashed so much. Is it worse than fallout 3? Do you just dislike the characters? I LOVE its crafting system and settlement system. I love making my own base and trying to survive the wasteland. This was my first fallout game and I dont understand why it gets so much hate. I've played fallout new vegas a little and I just admit that you have an infinite number of options to be who you want to be in new vegas and options for factions and a badass reputation system. Perhaps everyone played this and so fo4 felt like a downgrade? I respect fallout 4 for what it is. [link] [comments] |
I made a more for Fallout 4 that allows you to add a secondary mod to your armor pieces Posted: 17 Jun 2020 06:51 PM PDT The four extra mods that it adds to the new section are increasing inventory space mods, this gives you room for using defence modification on your primary slot (as in survival I felt like Deep Pockets was a neccessity and locked me out of using the other mods) The mod is here! Are the first two games worth considering? Posted: 17 Jun 2020 03:32 PM PDT I've only ever played the newer fallout games and was wondering if I should consider the first 2 to play. Bear in mind I was born a few years after the initial release of fallout 1 + 2 so the turn based combat and general mechanics are pretty alien to me. [link] [comments] |
