Is it possible to do choices making Fallout 4 unfinishable?

    Posted: 05 May 2020 02:27 PM PDT

You can make the Brotherhood of Steel an enemy (killing Danse at Police Station in Cambridge) You can kill the RailRoad (just go there and kill them lol) If you reach lvl 25 and play the Nuka World DLC, siding with them and completing there questline (conquering settlement in the Commonwealth), Preston wont talk to you in Concord.

No BoS, No RR, No MM, that means no Institute

My fallout 4 is making my ears bleed

    Posted: 05 May 2020 07:34 PM PDT

So recently I got back into fallout 4 and one morning I start up the game and my eardrums are nearly atomized the second the menu theme starts to play. It sounds like the bass was turned up to a million and was so bad that my ears were ringing for a few minutes after I first heard it. I haven't been able to find a fix to this online. I tried verifying the integrity of the game files and even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. I started up fallout 4 on a different computer on the same account with the same mods and it worked fine, but i can't regularly use that computer since it belongs to my brother. I uploaded a short unlisted video on YouTube to show what exactly is going on.

    Video(Volume Warning)

I would really appreciate it if somebody can help me fix this issue.

    Throughly impressed, Fallout 76 audio

    Posted: 06 May 2020 06:06 AM PDT

After playing others in the series extensively, 4 included, there seems to be an audio rehaul. I've specifically noticed that each gun sounds much better, and there is excellent differences comparing outside shooting to indoors. All in all improves the experience very much for me

Fallout 4 Steam - 3rd Person View with DS4 Controller not working

    Posted: 06 May 2020 03:27 AM PDT

On PC Fallout 4´s 3rd person view is on V or M3, however when I map one of them to a button on the DS4, in-game nothing happens when I press it. Do you guys know what the reason for this could be?

    Regards!

Things I Want To See In Fallout 5 (or whatever it is titled)

    Posted: 05 May 2020 02:33 PM PDT

New Factions: I want to see new groups, I'm tired of seeing the Brotherhood and Enclave in most every game.

Consequences For Actions: I want more than just if you shoot a person that town becomes hostile. I want something like the Reputation system, or maybe a group of towns that are linked in trade so if you commit a crime in one, there might be consequences in the others. I like Junktown in Fallout 1 and the BoS in Fallout New Vegas because you're decisions can result in change in leadership and ultimately the change in that groups future.

Morally Gray Quests: Again look to Junktown, if we side with Gizmo the crime boss we learn that Junktown prospers under his rule with his casino and all the vice brought to it, despite making the town lawless. Or characters like Arcade Gannon, who if he stays with the Enclave he is kicked out of the Followers and becomes a target to bounties, and if he stays with the Followers he isn't able to follow his father's footsteps as a soldier with people that could be considered family.

Vague Player Characters: I want an in between of what we got in New Vegas and Fallout 4. Fallout New Vegas's character starts out completely mysterious with no past ties (until Lonesome Road this is) then we learn a package he ran in the past resulted in mass death, which weighs on the player character. And in Fallout 4 we know literally everything about the character, we know Nate is a vet and Nora is a lawyer, we know their life prewar and thus is hard to craft that character. I actually like having a voiced protagonist, for me the problem arises with how the character is already completely fleshed out and not from the voice. Perhaps have the option to turn it off.

Vehicles: Okay so some might think this is unreasonable to ask for, but if Bethesda would stop working on the archaic Creatjon Engine, they could, with time, create a beautiful engine to run with vehicles. There could be easy things to get like bikes or harder things like a car or a vertbird maybe. And we know that vehicles are very possible given the Highwayman in Fallout 2, the humvees, motorcycles, and trucks from Tactics, the Vertibird from Fallout 2, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4. We even have boats from Far Harbor, Fallout 2, and Point Lookout.

Interesting DLCs: I've noticed that Bethesda has the same DLC sort of structure, in Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 there was a DLC with a marsh island area (Point Lookout and Far Harbor) and they both had raider themed ones (The Pitt and Nuka World). Then we have the throwaways like Operation Anchorage which is just a way to get the best armor in the game and a gauss rifle and the workshop ones from Fallout 4. And then of course there's ones like Mothership Zeta which is just bad, and Automatron which gets boring after the first time you play it. Bethesda also doesn't string their DLC together, I loved how New Vegas's DLC tells its own story and also sheds light on the event of the main game. Dead Money and Old World Blue tell us the story of Elijah and Christine, characters that were important people in the life of Veronica, a companion in the game. Old World Blues also introduces us to Ulysses proper, even though he was mentioned in the ending slides of Dead Money. He then carry's over into Lonesome Road as the main antagonist, as he tells us the back story of our player character and the actions we took to bring doom to the Divide. As we travel the Lonesome Road, Ulysses will ridicule the exploits of the NCR (if we're sides with them) and show his lack of care to the troops in both sides that died in the Divide. Honest Hearts doesn't contribute to the story of the other DLC but it does to the main story and the story of the Legion. We learn the story of Joshua Graham and his former position as Legate. We can inform him of things in the Mojave such as Caesar's death (if we kill him). I love how we have characters going through the DLCs with our character. Like the stories of Elijah and Christine affected Veronica as I mentioned earlier, and our exploits during Lonesome Road teach us the story of ED-E and actually makes our Mojave counterpart stronger. I'll give Bethesda credit for DLC like Far Harbor with directly includes Nick Valentine as a side character.

Completely New Location: I'm talking either an entirely different country or places within the newly annexed Canada, that's a way to ensure that factions don't carry over as well, also I think it's be fun to see more, especially considering Tactics covers almost the entire country with exception of the coasts.

The Settlement System: This one might be contested but I loved the settlement system, I just wish it was more optional, you had to build to get into the Institute or to build the robots in Automatron. Maybe have some smaller ones that function like the Public Workshops of Fallout 76, once you claim it you have to protect it and it could serve like a household or property you can build up, and only companions would be allowed there, no settlers. Then there could be other that function as the all did in Fallout 4, with settlers and requirements for food and water. Note these would be entirely optional.

Clean Areas: I'm not saying it has to be spotless or the buildings can't be scrappy, but it's 200+ years in and Diamond City looks like shit. As far back as Fallout 1 with Shady Sand there was locations that were spotless, and Vault City in Fallout 2. There's no reason they should have piles of trash this far in.

Edit: Better Main Story: I use the word "better" due to lack of better terms as the stories of Fallout 3 and Fallout 4, but I would prefer something like New Vegas where you're given a reason and nothing else. It's mysterious and you have to find everything out as you travel. Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 both have you searching for a scientist family member, and then dealing with a big problem in the wasteland (either the Institute or Brotherhood and Project Purity)

What else would you like to see?

Best perfomance for Fallout NV on my laptop

    Posted: 06 May 2020 02:58 AM PDT

So I recently got Fallout NV on my laptop and have been having a lot of fun but it gets choppy at moments. I was wondering what are the best ways to improve perfomance in the settings like disabling shadows or what not. I'm gonna disable V-sync but is there anything else I should turn off?

    Simplified Fallout Tabletop RPG

    Posted: 05 May 2020 08:29 PM PDT

Hello! I'm working on a Fallout RPG system, a much more simple version than the old PnP format, built pretty similarly to D&D 5e. There hasn't been a ton of testing, but based on the few games I've ran, it covers just about every situation you'd need rules for. It's still a work in progress- I have to finish writing down some more of the rules I just have memorized from years of homebrewed 5e, lol, but once I finish the basic rules, would you guys be interested in checking out the docs?

Did anyone else expect more easter eggs/references to past games in Wastelanders?

    Posted: 06 May 2020 01:23 AM PDT

As the title says, I was kinda disappointed with the lack of references to other Fallout games in Wastelanders and even Fallout 76 as a whole. I understand there's a lot of time between 76 and the other games but I still would have liked maybe an NPC who was an ancestor of a character from Fallout 3 or something. Just seems like a missed opportunity to have a game that takes place before all the other ones and not have something like that. The biggest thing in relation to past games in the entire DLC that I've found is the settlers talk of coming from The Pitt/DC area.

Fallout 2 intro and the rest of the world

    Posted: 06 May 2020 02:36 AM PDT

I know, everyone posts about what they think the state of the world is outside of the US, but I've come across something that I never realized before. In the into to fallout 2, pearlmen gives his "war never changes" dialogue and mentions something interesting. "Continents were sallowed in flames and fell beneath the boiling oceans" just what land masses fell beneath the ocean? I know it wouldn't be all too realistic for say Australia to be submerged in the ocean, but fallout takes liberties to make an interesting world, I think the British isles were sunk into the sea personally since it's a major power, it's a small land mass, and it's close to the arctic where I'm sure ice would've melted from nuclear fire and flooded the isles. I can also see most of Europe being underwater as well. Tell me what you think about this small, and easily missed part of fallout

    Piper stop following

    Posted: 05 May 2020 08:22 PM PDT

Guys, I am having this problem. It all started when I came to speak with Ellie to start Far Harbor mission. After that Piper just walked away and appeared in Publick Occurrences. I had tried to talk to her but it didn't work, all I could do was "Hey Piper" and she said dialogue and that was it, there was no option for me to choose. I am lv 27 btw. Pls help.

    --------‐--------------- UPDATE:

I have found the solution. As it turns out, there is a quest conflict. Before starting far harbor dlc, I have a quest call "Dangerous minds" in which I choose Piper to follow me and I haven't finished it.

So the solution is open the console and type the command "removefromfaction 75d56" -OR- continue the quest, go to Memory Dend and talk to Nick. ( this works for me)
