Not having Pickman as the (sorely needed) evil companion in Fallout 4 is one of its biggest blunders

    Posted: 07 May 2020 09:45 PM PDT

While playing through Fallout 4 for the thousandth time, I found myself making my way through Pickman's Gallery to pick up Pickman's Blade for my stealth character, I found myself thinking, "How on earth is he not a companion?" In a game that desperately needs an evil option, Pickman would have been a perfect choice. His whole introduction seems like he's going to be a significant character, but then he disappears after you talk to him and you're left with a pointy knife covered in black paint when you could've had an awesome evil companion to serve as contrast to the rest of the companions. He could have an incredibly interesting backstory, and could potentially open the possibilities of a more dark version of the main story.

Although I love Fallout 4, this is one of my biggest issues that seems minor, but in my opinion is a pretty massive missed opportunity. What do you guys think?

I think I figured out why Brahmins have two heads

    Posted: 07 May 2020 12:39 PM PDT

Before the war, the beef industry was looking for ways to increase cattle birthrates. They had great success with genetic modification to massively increase the rate of twinning. If you notice the size of udders on New Vegas brahmins, it seems they also were able to increase milk yield, allowing not just increased milk production, but also allowing a single cow to foster more offspring at once. After the bombs fell, radiation caused an extremely high incidence of these offspring being born as dicephalic parapagus twins instead of as two separate identical calves.

This is why you see so many "two headed" cows. They're the offspring of a designer breed with 90%+ twinning rates, combined with radiological mutation causing 90%+ of those twins being born cojoined.

Out of the entire franchise, which faction is your favorite?

I don't know if this counts as a faction, but I always thought Vance and his crew of cannib- I mean vampires were pretty cool.

Question about the random encounter AI in Fallout 3.

    Posted: 08 May 2020 03:06 AM PDT

So I've been messing around with fallout 3 again, and i've thrown on the wastlelander edition mod as well as a few others for some added challenge. Tried to keep it as close to the original game as possible, just increase the difficulty and add in some new guns. But this is raised a question that i'm really curious about.

With how much harder everything hits when you have the damage cranked up i've started using the random encounter Brotherhood Outcast patrols as escorts...but how on earth does their pathing work? Does anyone know how they decide where they wander? Like do they set an end goal when they spawn and then just walk to there, or do they just follow preset paths and randomly choose which way to turn until they unload?

I'm not really an expert in the AI in these games, but i figured if anyone would know how their decision making works it'd be this place. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I noticed this as I was going through fallout 3 today. Does anyone think it’s possible that Bethesda was foreshadowing the Institute back when they released FO3?

Why do people say Fallout 4 has a bad story?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 10:35 AM PDT

Fallout 4 was my first fallout game, so my opinion is definitely gonna be biased, but why do people hate on its story so much? I personally really resonated with characters like Elder Maxson and Father, and it was a genuine shock and emotional moment when he died in the end. I thought that it was a beautifully crafted story and world (Especially far harbor) and i found myself just wandering around the world just for small details indicating untold stories. I loved the story and especially the side quests of fo4. I have not yet played New Vegas, so is the story just that much better? (Also should i get it?)

    ENB Visual Clipping problems

    Posted: 08 May 2020 05:19 AM PDT

    Hey there!

So, whenever I use an ENB, like the apocalypse one for example, I've got major clipping problems, especially with water. Sometimes with body's too. I haven't found a fix on YouTube or anything.

    Can someone please help me?

Where did you make your “Home” in any of the Fallout games?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 08:49 AM PDT

The first Fallout I played was Fallout New Vegas, of course it's by far my favorite.

On my first playthrough, I found Boone's Sniper Shack early while heading to Novac and I made that place my home. I played on console so having an open area that didn't require a load screen was convenient. Stored ammo, magazines and books in the ammo boxes, unique guns and armor that I collected in the footlockers (I'm an absolute hoarder/collector, I love finding all of the unique stuff). Then I would store stuff that would sell in the trash can at Gun Runners and made all of the craftable ammos there.

Fallout 3 was my second Fallout and it only made sense to set my home up in Megaton. The Mister Handy, customization, bobble heads, etc. Then I would always go to Rivet City to buy and sell stuff. I've never blown up Megaton in any of my playthroughs.

Same for Fallout 4, I made my home in the Sole Survivors home, stored unique stuff there, but I miss how the unique weapons were done in FNV and F3, they were way more interesting, like the Lincoln Repeater and the All American. Fallout 4 offers way more customization and creativity when it comes to making a home. Starlight Drive In was an area I spent a lot of time in.

Haven't played Fallout 76 and probably never will.

I really need to play Fallout 1 and 2. I played the first part of one with the cave but it didn't run well on my laptop.

So where you did you make your home?

    Water walking bug

    Posted: 08 May 2020 02:27 AM PDT

I created a new character with some mods I've played with previously in Fallout 4 that didn't cause this issue, but all the sudden I can walk on water after I help the minute men, I am no longer able to swim, I'm just walking on water, and it's been breaking my game. It causes my character to be still and floating. I looked for hours but still haven't found a solution. Does anyone know a fix?

Is Wastelanders actually good? Or is fallout 76 so bad that I’m being tricked into thinking Wastelanders is good?

    Posted: 07 May 2020 11:21 AM PDT

I can't tell if Bethesda has tricked me into thinking Wastelanders is actually good. Was Fallout 76 so devoid of good content that it's making me think I'm enjoying Wastelanders?

I understand that it's basically just fetch quests but some of the missions seemed really interesting. Without giving away too much, a couple quests that stick out are the little girl quest at RobCo. There were some interesting new mechanics. Also the slave quest sticks out in my mind. The quest where you go underneath the golf course was an amazing new environment.

Am I crazy? I've actually enjoyed Wastelanders.
