Game crashes during "Something's Gotta Give"

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 06:46 AM PDT

Ever since I reinstalled this via Steam, my game is crashing during that song. What happens is the game will "minimize" like I've hit the Windows key (I play using an XBOX One controller) and then just gives me that "FalloutNV has stopped working" message. I can't figure out what's going on. This has never happened to me before. I can't seem to find an answer on either Steam or Nexus Mods. Has this happened to anyone before? The Windows Event Viewer logs are giving me that damn Exception code: 0xc0000005 and none of the solutions I find via Google apply to me. So what's happening and how do I fix this?

Just outside Fields Shack there is a pickup truck with a New York license plate. It’s interesting as the blue NY plate was used from 1966 to 72’. Sorry if this has been posted before I couldn’t find anything about it.

Really underwhelmed by Honest Hearts (Spoilers)

    Posted: 10 Apr 2020 12:15 AM PDT

Just completed Honest Hearts DLC for the first time in my first run with all the DLC (previously done Dead Money, Old World Blues, now doing Lonesome Road), and I'm really underwhelmed by Honest Hearts.

It's very short, for one thing. The story is basically "go explore a little, meet the Sorrows, do 4 or 5 quests for them, then fight the White Legs". While the linear story for OWB is not much longer, there's a ton of places to go in the course of exploration that provides hours of additional content. Exploration in HH basically amounts to some stuff about the fate of Vault 22, the Survivalist (which is excellent, unquestionably the high point of the DLC) and apart from that a bunch of camp sites and ranger stations with no real story behind them. Compared to the rich background found in OWB and Dead Money, it's very unsatisfying.

The worst part though, in my opinion, is the lack of complexity to the final moral choice you make. You either go with Graham and fight the White Legs or you go with Daniel and leave Zion. For me, this is barely even a choice. Compared to the Mojave, Zion is a paradise, with plentiful radiation-free water and a level of vegetation comparable only to Jacobstown on the base map. Leaving Zion for literally anywhere else you've traveled to is a death sentence for the Dead Horses and the Sorrows, without even considering that they would be harassed the entire way by the White Legs, resulting in casualties such as your companions' husband on a greater scale.

Meanwhile the morality of making war on the White Legs is completely unambiguous. The game goes out of its way to make sure you know there is no diplomatic solution to their hostility: their lack of knowledge of anything but raiding their neighbors has left them with their back against the wall. The White Legs will either join Caesar's Legion (itself a bad thing) by wiping out Graham's tribe or they will die out. They are an implacable enemy with whom there is no compromise, no middle ground.

For me, the choice of "do you want to stay and fight to control the most habitable environment yet seen in a Fallout game or run away while under attack from your implacable enemies" is basically just asking "do you want some Dead Horses and Sorrows to die or most Dead Horses and Sorrows to die"? The choice is abundantly clear, and I found the lack of a clear rationale for taking the non-violent (for your enemies only) option a huge detriment to the experience.

    What do you all think?

After Benny escaped the Lucky38, i tried leaving the casino only to be met by Alerio.

Once he confronts me he keeps entering a loop where he continuously says "Caesar awaits" and he wont assign me the quest. Anyway to fix this?

The wiki says that one of Veronica's lines during I Could Make You Care will activate the second recording for ED-E My Love, but it doesn't specify what line. Does anybody know which one it is?

Getting so, so frustrated with crashing, what am I doing wrong?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2020 01:23 PM PDT

Played years back on xbox, had very little problems, tried to pick up the steam version but I'm getting crashes, freezing, and/or unlimited load screens at least once an hour.

Version is Steam, Fallout: New Vegas, and I own all the dlc (not sure if that makes it different than the Ultimate version)

Specs are i9-9900k, RTX 2080, 32gb Ram, and the games on an nvme ssd

I was experiencing these problems in vanilla game, no mods, so I tried installing the mods listed here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/22380/discussions/0/522730700736948013/

For the lazy these are: New Vegas Stutter Remover v.4.1.36, CASM v.1.0.2b, YUP v.11.8.1, NVAC v.7.5.1.0, FNV4GB v.1.9

Edit: Forgot to mention I also have script extender installed, followed those instructions.

Frankly, I think it crashes MORE often now. Tried Uninstalling/reinstalling with/without these mods, still no change. Vortex shows they are enabled, is there a step I'm missing?

Please help, the little bit I've played again has drawn me in but I'm crashing every other time I go through a door. This last time I froze just trying to look into a ammo crate while out of combat.
