    One. Hundred. THOUSAND.

    Milestone - 100k

Folks, wow. Just wow. One hundred thousand of you are here, participating in one of my favourite subreddits of all time (it already was before I joined the mod team, so I can totally say that!). That's absolutely incredible, and the three of us are stunned at just how much this place has grown. Cyrus224 and I in particular (but mostly him, given my absences due to my studies) have worked extremely hard on the Fallout Network, and built some parts of the network from nothing, or even ruins in one sub's case, but god damn it's just hard to express the pride we feel in so many thousands of you all wanting to be a part of this place we've created. It's Fantastic, and our pride is most assuredly not theoretical.

    Slim Shady

I'm back and delighted to be here with you all again as Doctor Shaka. I've definitely earned the right to brag about it just once. As I've finally been able to get 76 I'm delving deep into the lore first-hand to maximise my effectiveness on the team and hopefully be back up to my former proverbial speed again soon.

    Rules Reminder

As with any milestone post, we want to take the time to remind you all of the subreddit rules:

    1. Threads and comments that are irrelevant to lore will be removed. -This means , jokes, memes, irrelevant images, real life similarities, personal thoughts / headcanon, what ifs, etc, will be removed unless there is direct lore relevancy in game canon.

    2. Remain Civil. Personal attacks will lead to a ban. Posts or comments complaining about Fallout/developers may lead to a ban. Devs are NOT part of the discussion. - Don't attack other users. Don't get aggressive about lore discussion. Don't go off about real life Russia / Chinese / US military. Like Interplay more? Like Bethesda more? Like Obsidian More? That's great, but it has NO place here. Devs are not part of the discussion.

    3. Refrain from asking about the fate or state of any place that isn't explicitly mentioned in-game. If neither wiki has an entry on it, nothing is known about the area in canon as of yet. - This used to be a huge issue, where 50% of our posts were "what happened to X or Y location". It has died down a lot, but it still happens several times a week. If there is no info on the wiki, don't ask about individual locations.

    4. Posts that are pure speculation/opinion and cannot be backed up by lore will be removed. - Title : "Here's my thoughts on" "Here's my Opinion" "My headcanon is" "Do you think X group could beat up Y Group". These posts are not allowed. We do not know if Caesar could beat up a synth in hand to hand combat, or if you've read this post and want to win a game you make sure to say that Cyrus224 is the best mod in your comment below, or if the NCR could stop an attack of super mutant brahmin who learned how to use vertibirds. If there is not lore to back it up, and it is purely "well I think" or" my headcanon is" , it does not belong.

*5. Use descriptive titles. Posts with vague titles will be removed. *- This ones easy. Please don't make titles like "Enclave" or "Brotherhood" or "I have a question". Ask the question. Tell us the content of the post in the title. If someone has to CLICK the link to know what it is about, it will be removed.

    6. Low-effort/single-word/link-only posts or answers will be removed. - We try to set a different standard here when it comes to replies. Linking to the wiki as an answer with nothing else? No go. Answering with one word or half a sentence? Not good enough. Only saying "No", "Yes" ....sigh... . Answer the question OP asked, even if there is not a lot of info. Give references. If something cannot be answered well, explain why. If there's ZERO explanation, consider our rules on speculation and report the post.

    7. All posts and comments, in end, come down to moderator discretion. - Super Nazi dictatorship rule (because mods bad, amirite).... but in reality, this rule is simply in place for users thinking "There's no rule against me saying I hate (minority group)" or "There's no rule saying I cant link to a reference that's only available on a site I own". This rule is pretty much never needed as almost everything already falls into other rules. This may also work the other way, and we may stretch rules on certain comments if most of the content is on topic / backed by lore, because everybody slips up from time to time.

    Celebration

To celebrate not only the subreddit milestone, but my own milestone of landing a great job right out of my PhD, I will be giving away ONE copy each of the following games at the end of March, on the platform of your choice (assuming I can buy the game for people not on PC - if this is NOT the case please correct me and this will become a PC-only giveaway):

    • Fallout

    • Fallout 2

    • Fallout 3

    • Fallout New Vegas

    • Fallout 4

    • Fallout 76

To enter, just comment below and tell us which of us is the best moderator (Automoderator, Cyrus224, HunterWorld, Shaka1277) along with the name of the game you'd like to win. A winner will be chosen randomly for each game. One entry per person. You must be able to show that you do not already own the game. Steam accounts must be more than 60 days old as of March 31st to qualify. Entries close on March 24th at whatever time I'm free to close entries, to allow me time to purchase the games on whatever platforms and organise the logistics of the giveaway with the winning individuals.

Is the Beretta company and it's products canonical in the Fallout universe?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 01:56 PM PST

Beretta weapons appeared in Tactics, but some, not all, things in that game are considered non-canon. Is there any more proof of this company existing within the FO universe?

What are the safest travel routes between the main places in the Commonwealth?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:50 PM PST

    I'm roleplaying my story of the Sole Survivor through diary entries, trying to write about her reaction to and the unique life in the wasteland. She's going to Goodneighboor now to meet a certain doctor in a certain Den. My question is simple;

What is the safest route from Diamond City to Goodneighboor? If you were a scavenger/caravaneer taking people from town to town, how would you avoid the warzone that the main Boston area has become without getting lost or taking a big detour?

Sea of Tranquility debate ENDED! (hopefully)

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:48 PM PST

So last time this was posted I decided to take another look at the mural. While I agree that you can't say for sure the planes or the PA soldier are included in that scene, the astronaut IS holding something that the original moon landing crew did not have. It's not stated what that is clearly BUT the real crew had everything they needed to make the trip. So the question is, what else would they have needed that created the change from the original photo? It could be some fancy plasma torch tool, sure, but why is he carrying it around in the photo? When you add in the implication of a battle from the plaque however you have a perfect reason for him to have what appears to be a laser rifle attached to his space suit.

Personally the fact that they added that alteration to the photo, let alone including it in a mural of military battles, plus the implication from the plaque makes it pretty cut and dry. Hopefully this helps clear up the matter on the sub, obviously it's not dev truth but I think it's enough to say that was the intention there.

    Children of Atom's radiation resistance.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 04:03 AM PST

When searching for Virgil you come across a Children of Atom's settlement in the glowing sea, and the Children are wearing nothing but a few rags while living in the most radioactive area of the Commonwealth, but the game doesn't really tell you how that's even possible. Thanks to the Far Habour dlc we know that not everyone shares this "blessing of Atom", as per the fact that some of them have to take medicine or make anti-radiation meds (Ware's Brew, for exemple) to survive the radiation. There's a possibility that they are minimaly scarred ghouls (Nick Valentine mentions the existance of different levels of scarring on ghouls on his file on the mysterious stranger), so it's possible that they simply didn't have their skin corroded? Or is there any other explanation I'm missing
