FO3 karma system would have been great in FO4 Posted: 16 Jan 2020 01:59 PM PST The karma system would have complemented quite well the relationships with companions in fo4. In fo4 bethesda wrote dialogue for every displeased companion, yet it's very hard to actually have such convesations. Companions build up approval passively by following you, so unless you farm disapproval they never really come to hate you. But with a karma system a good natured companion could end up passively hating a bad karma character, and the other way around. The script seems easy too, just check the two actors' karma and then set wheter the follower would build up approval or disapproval. On top of that, there could be perks one can unlock once followers reach max disapproval. As it is, there's no reason to make a follower upset. But if you can unlock a perk the hate farming would be worth it. These perks could be given on top of the perks you gain by reaching max approval to balance out the fact that you permanently lose the follower. I really hope bgs plans to do something similar to this in the next title. I'd trade it with the romance options every day. [link] [comments] |
My most recent screw up on Fallout 4 that makes me feel like an idiot that I just have to share. Posted: 17 Jan 2020 01:55 AM PST My first time through the game I just kept doing main quests and didn't fully explore the commonwealth. So this time through I decided to make sure I explored everything and did everything rather than just going through the main story line. So I'm walking around the map and I come up to this settlement and I see turrets so I just start loading off on them. Bringing down every turret and People start running out at me and I'm just killing one after another and then Piper was my companion at the time and she started coming at me and then I started realizing hey these people have actual names and my companion is hostile towards me hmm this doesn't seem right. Little did I know Covenant wasn't somewhere I was suppose to walk up to and start dropping people like flies... [link] [comments] |

Posted: 16 Jan 2020 10:16 PM PST Tl;dr your character, by the time of meeting the good ghouls, synths, and super mutants probably already has some form of fear or hatred toward them. Or at least a growing fear or hatred. Out of the three factions (not including the minutemen), one wants to help these people he doesn't care for. One creates these things and has done things that has ruined his life. And the other reminds him of his days in the military. Okay, so when playing the game as a game, we can easily say Valentine is good, these Synths bad. Strong good, these Super Mutants bad. Hancock... good? These Ghouls bad. But I realized on my current playthrough that I don't think the Sole Survivor would share that view. Everything you know and love was destroyed and taken from you. You awake in this new world and on a quest to find your son. The first thing you do is save some people from raiders and they tell you to go to Diamond City. On your way there you hear gun fire and see these guys in Power Armor defending a police station against these zombie like creatures. As a former soldier (or lawyer?) you decide to step in and help. You see how vicious and violent these ghouls are. The guy thanks you and ask you for help on a mission. Since you are there, you agree. On your way to the location, you two are attacked by more ghouls. Once you get there. You are attacked by robot like creatures called Synths. He offers you a place on his team after helping him, and you tell him you will think about it. You get to diamond city, after fighting more ghouls and some creatures called Super Mutants, and meet Piper. You hear her and some kid talking about her writing an article about synths being in the city. You talk your way in. You find Nick Valentine's office but he isn't there. His assistant sends you to go find him. Once you do, you discover he is a Synth, but since you don't have a lot of knowledge on them, you are weary but willing to trust to him. When arriving back to Diamond City, you see two brothers in a situation where one has a gun aimed at another and claiming that the other is a Synth. The situation ends with one dying. Further driving the Sole Survivor to question these Synths. You find out that Nick, even though is a synth, doesn't know how to get into the institute, which by this point you are somewhat questionable of his loyalty. And after discovering Kellogg was a hired gun for the institute with cybernetics from them, you really stop trusting the synths you encounter. And by this point, you have yet to meet a really good Super Mutant or Ghoul. The Sole Survivor doesn't see anything but fear and pain from these creatures. When he sees a ghoul, he doesn't see the Vault Tec, he sees the ones that were swarming Cambridge. When he sees a Super Mutant, he doesn't Virgil, he sees the things that have sacks of human flesh hanging around their territory. When he sees Synths, he doesn't see Nick, he sees the people that took his family away from him. When he sees the Railroad, he sees traitors. When he sees the Institute, he sees another potential ending to humans. When he sees the Brotherhood of Steel, he sees his old life. The military. The camaraderie. He sees people fighting to stop these horrors that he is experiencing for the first time. Now, obviously, as an RPG game this does not have to be how things go. But this is my first time really deciding to focus solely on the Brotherhood, and that was my plan going in, and from this perspective I can actually get why they joined. (I used to hate the Brotherhood because I loved Nick and Hancock, and don't like power armor. But now I can totally buy the SS joining the Brotherhood.) [link] [comments] |
My first foray into wrist computing Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:14 AM PST Inspired by the Pipboy watch face post the other day (authentic or not, you decide) I decided to try my own hand at a watch face. I downloaded the Tizen SDK and GalaxyWatchMaker then cobbled the image together in photoshop. I already have ideas on how I could make this better in so many ways, but I was so excited and pleased with the results that I had to share with true Fallout fans. https://www.instagram.com/p/B7Z7eldH3RP/?igshid=1bv3x25c3d3vc [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Jan 2020 04:14 PM PST I can't decide how to end the DLC. I want raider gang perks and wouldn't mind managing a couple raider settlements for the variety, maybe go Open Season after. But I don't want to lock out of anything. What are the consequences of finishing Home Sweet Home (make raider settlements in the Commonwealth)? Think I read I'll lose Preston as a companion, so will I become an enemy of the Minuteman too? Additional: Haven't finished the MQ, I'm on great terms with every faction, and will probably end up doing the Railroad ending one day. Also have max affinity/companion perk with Preston and Gage. Do you think fallout 3, 4 or 76 did there VATS system better? Which do you prefer and why. Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:50 AM PST So while i was trying to sleep last night I got thinking about which fallout had the best vats for me and what would the game feel like if they changed them around. Today i decided to go back and try out VATS in fallout 3, fallout 4 and fallout 76 (ive been playing that one for a while) and while I'm leaning toward fallout 76 for the best one I still enjoy the other types and all three have their drawbacks. So im just wondering what you would chose if you could only use one of them in all the fallout games. And if you also want to, what do you dislike about them. [link] [comments] |
If another fallout game happens, what factions do you want to return, or just get more backstory? Posted: 16 Jan 2020 08:35 PM PST I personally don't have an idea or hope but most likely the brotherhood, and maybe enclave but that's all I can think of. [link] [comments] |
Fallout character sheet request Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:15 AM PST Anyone have a good Fallout character sheet that is fillable in Excel? I'm writing a Fallout LitRPG web novel on my blog (link here: https://falloutloneexile.com/ ) and I need a sheet that will calculate the skills/stats and help me track progression somehow. Could be a GURPS sheet used for gaming, or something customized for Fallout specifically. Will take what I can get. [link] [comments] |
Fallout 4 Brotherhood of steel big question spoilers Posted: 16 Jan 2020 11:06 PM PST Curie, Danse and Codsworth are the only three that's likes it if you join the brotherhood. why is that? also every time when an NPC that hates synths and the institute bitches about wanting to fight them they always get directed to the railroad. the minute men isn't called and the BOS straight up despises the institute and synths. Humans and Nick seems to prefer Railroad and minute men while Robots and synths seems to prefer BoS [link] [comments] |
10 Year Celebration of Fallout: new vegas Posted: 16 Jan 2020 04:31 PM PST This post is about how much I enjoy fallout: new vegas and I won't stop playing it anytime soon! 7 years ago I thought Fallout was a plain game that didn't make any sense (But I should've slapped my old self) Anyways, My friend showed me and told me over and over again to play this game after ignoring him he bought me the game on steam...I kept it in the dust and got bored one day and I was like..Well why not...I started playing and I got attached instantly! Let me remind you this was my FIRST FALLOUT GAME and I purchased Fallout 3 which was my second game and got fallout 4 later on. Fallout: new vegas I won't stop playing anytime soon, I have almost 1200 hours of playing the game on Steam, And boy I never regretted it I added mods to make the game even more fun and exciting! Something about fallout games bring me excitement...Something about it I cannot explain, All I can say once you play it and follow the Quests and Storyline you wonder what happened before the bombs fell?..What was it like being in the year 2077? These questions constantly are in my mind every time I played any Fallout game..Even after discovering all the locations and secret Weapons I still find the game enjoyable. In conclusion, if you are new to fallout or have not purchased Fallout: new vegas yet...Get it, Trust me it's more enjoyable [link] [comments] |
Weird opinion but I liked how Fallout New Vegas portrayed LBGT characters Posted: 15 Jan 2020 07:35 PM PST IIRC, there's actually a lot of LGBT characters in New Vegas. But what's interesting is NV doesn't make a huge deal about it and they don't portray the characters as gay stereotypes. It just treats them as normal people, who are also gay or bisexual. Being gay isn't their entire character. I honestly wish more TV shows and games could treat LGBT characters like this. It's funny that a game like New Vegas normalizes LGBT characters better than most media [link] [comments] |
What Fallout game should I play first? Posted: 16 Jan 2020 05:40 PM PST This was kind of clickbait but I already played fallout 4, but after being a fan of the lore for a long time and not playing the game(because I didn't have anything at the time to play it on, it's a long story), I honestly don't think that fallout 4 had the heart of the series and had a greatly different tone. Anyway, I would like to know what fallout game (besides fallout 4, duh), that I should play next, as I finally have the capability to do so. I am leaning towards fallout new vegas, but I also really want to play the first one, too, and they are the same price anyway. Can you all give me your opinions? [link] [comments] |
FO76 / Bethesda multiplayer context Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:15 AM PST Hi all, So I've had convos with people here anticipating Fallout 5, and I was wondering if someone could provide me some info about Skyrim as context. If i understand correctly, Skyrim started as single-player/open world ("Fallout, but magic/fantasy"), then transitioned to MMO. Fallout seemed to follow the same path. So I was wondering - are there still singleplayer Skyrim games being made? Was the MMO chapter of that franchise a "one-off", or was the transition permanent? I guess I wanted to ask this bc I won't play 76, but I have been having so much fun with the older Fallouts (4 and NV) that I am really excited at the thought of a 'return to normal' FO5. Your favorite great war survivors story ? Posted: 17 Jan 2020 05:02 AM PST By that I mean stories of people/communities who survived the great war and managed to survive, even for only a few more days after, that you can find on terminals/notes etc, from fallout 1 to 76 [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Jan 2020 10:34 PM PST So my brother recently got fo3 for the pc and I have already played through it on the Xbox one. I was wondering if there were any story driven mods out there that I could download I will take any suggestions [link] [comments] |

Help me find quotes for my analysis of FO4 Posted: 16 Jan 2020 12:47 PM PST Hey all, for a college paper I'm writing I'm going to be looking at the message of fallout 4 with respect to it's criticism of hypernationalism, warmongering and the parallelism to the cold war and cold war era hysteria. I was to show that the brotherhood is a satire of the American Military insofar as they are brutes who rely on brawn and bully the other factions/nations through displays of power. If anyone can think of quotes (from dialogue, terminals, or even loading screen tips) that help display that (how the brotherhood is a satirical criticism of American military) I would greatly appreciate it, even if you can't find the exact quote a paraphrase is still helpful [link] [comments] |
Posted: 16 Jan 2020 10:27 PM PST I downloaded a mod that had a shipment with a ton of supplies (yes I'm a cheater) and I bought the shipment but I can't get to it or don't know how. Can someone lend me a hand? [link] [comments] |
