Why hasn't the NCR made a presence in eastern America (Boston and Washington)

The NCR is presented as having genuinely big cities and a large army at its disposal, so why hasn't a single mention of them made it across America? It really doesn't make sense to me that not one person in diamond city knows what it is. It also doesn't make sense to me how there isn't any mention of the large cities in NCR territory which have thousands of people in them.

Wouldn't Project Purity in Fallout 3 ruin the bottle cap economy?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2020 03:07 AM PST

In Fallout 1 we see that caps are adapted in the place of cash in the wasteland because it was backed by The Hub trading purified water for caps. But since Project Purity succeeds in Fallout 3, wouldn't that mean that caps are useless because you don't need them anymore to get pure drinking water, you can just get it for free easily. Wouldn't it at least be useless in D.C or the western part of USA where the project takes place?

Why do people keep random diaries on their terminals?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2020 01:06 PM PST

I've always found it lackluster to find a terminal that basically explains the motives and reasoning of people who would otherwise have no reason to publicly state them.

The pump guy from the beginning of FO4 comes to mind; you can haggle with him in order to find out that he's trying to use you for cheap risky labor, but if you don't have high enough stats for the skill checks, then you can also read a few of his diary entries on a nearby terminal.

And they're written from the perspective of someone who's leaving a note for someone else, except that they're the only person around. In general, terminal notes have this feel of "why did they even bother writing it?" - I get record keeping, but I don't get why someone would need to write a note to themselves stating:

All the noises I've been hearing, I'm not setting foot in there. I'll probably head back and drag one of the new guys over here and make him do it.

Like, does everyone in the FO universe suffer from Alzheimer's? The way he words it is rather unnatural if you ask me. "Oh, I'll probably get a random dude to die of radiation poisoning. I'm so evil, I should jot this down somewhere. Mwahahaha!"

Again, I get that it's for storytelling reasons, my only qualm with it is that I find it bad storytelling. As the saying goes, "show, don't tell".

Is there a central “port” for stimpacks/radaway/med-x/psycho?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2020 01:19 PM PST

Relatively new to this sub and I scrolled about a year back and never saw this question-

Is there a central IV port on the pipboy or vault suit where all stimpacks and chems are administered, or is it just like jab it in my leg any time I need it?

I figure with all the stimpacks and chems a person uses, that would be a lot of injections. On the other hand characters get blown up and full of 1000s of bullets so there's that...

Or were they just added to have a highly modifiable early game weapon for FO4 and 76

What’s the ultimate future for Freeside in the House Ending?

    Posted: 06 Jan 2020 02:26 AM PST

Say House allows them to be independent on the ending. Although let's give it a lot more time like 50 years.
