Why does most of the commonwealth seem so uninhabited?

I was thinking how 210 years have passed but it seems like no-one has stepped foot into half the places in Boston or actually lived there.

What Did the USA call deathclaws

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 09:18 PM PST

Deathclaws were genetically engineered by the USA before the Great War, so what did they call them. I think the idea of wastelanders calling stuff different names than the original is interesting which is why I'm asking.

Why is Shady Sands the NCR’s capital?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 09:13 PM PST

Why not a neutral city like how D.C. isn't part of any state, why is the capital of a state also the capital of the whole country? Wouldn't this just lead to Shady State having a greater dominance over the Republic? Why would any of the other States agree to that?

Sorry if this is dumb but I'm legit confused by the logic.

How many people did Vault 111 hold?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 07:24 PM PST

How many people did the Vault actually hold beside the SS's family? A few dozen or was it over a hundred? I know that population scaling is always an issue but is there some kind of log that might help answer this?

How long does it take for someone to ghoulify?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 07:54 PM PST

Is there any documents or dialouge in the games that suggest how long it takes? Does it depend on how much radiation they take? Being feral or not is a choice and Jason Bright is an excellent example to prove that. I was wondering because there is a pilot in Novac (New Vegas) named Daisy and she resembles Daisy in Goodneighbor (Fallout 4) she's a pilot of a vertibird so she could get around the states fairly easily and there is plenty of vertibird crashes. Just wondering if there's any correlation between the two. Wondering if there's any evidence to back this up

How do the gunners aquire their arms?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 04:06 PM PST

They always appear in combat armor and have assault rifles, combat rifles, plasma, etc, is it possible that there's enough for them to scavenge or are they able to produce these items?

How has sunset sasparilla lasted so long?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 02:32 AM PST

To my understanding sunset sasparilla does not have radiation in it like Nuka cola. I know that root beer does not tend to "go off" just flat, but how has so much lasted in the wasteland? wouldn't that long of time not still heavily affected it? even if you ignore that, sunset sasparilla seems unique to areas around the Mohave and such so there wouldn't be as much floating around as Nuka cola. Is there a lore reason why there is so much in and around the Mohave? or is it just game design taking some liberties for gameplay?

How do people pay with caps?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 01:01 AM PST

Assuming people carry thousands of caps in their bags, how would one for example enter the strip? Just put 2000 caps one by one? I have my own headcanons, but id like to see if there was an actual explanation

Would Super Mutants ever willingly settle with humans?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 12:12 PM PST

Could such a settlement work? Would super mutants even join something like this? What about the "dum-dums" would they even know enough not to eat their not mutant fellows?

    How powerful is Caesar really?

    Posted: 26 Jan 2020 09:37 AM PST

As we know Caesar is the absolute leader of the Legion and is both feared and admired as a god. However would it be far-fetched to assume that the higher officers potentially hold more power than one could believe? After all Caesar suffers from a brain tumor and lost the First Battle of Hoover Dam. If he loses the second one too then a coup staged by Lanius (if you spare him), Vulpes and other Legionnaires seems quite likely. We already know that Silus at least is skeptical of Caesars leadership and he can't be the only one.
