    Honest hearts on survival

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 10:59 AM PDT

    Hey,

So im doing my first real run through of NV since it first released. At lvl 18 i felt like i wanted to hit some expansions. After hitting up google i decided Honest Hearts would be a good place to start, since it looked like the easiest one to hit.

That 100lb weight limit hit HARD, ill tell you what. Took some food, water, a 10mm machine gun, and 640 rounds, as well as combat armor with a total DT of 33 (CA25 +CH5 + Perk3). The enemies smacked though; I was down 30 stims by the end of the expense (started with 50, by the end i was down to 20). 80% of the enemies i faced were either animals or melee units, so ammo started running out fast. On top of that the melee tribes men are really fast and move around a lot, as well as being beefy in their own right, so it was taking alot of bullets to put any of them down.

Over all it was very difficult, cost a lot of supplies and ammo, and really only rewarded me with XP. If your playing survival i would recommend beefing up your melee stat first, and don't bring any food or water, there is a ton of food around and you're better off just bringing more rounds.

    Favorite vanilla base location?

Mine is harper's shack. It has a reloading bench and workbench. Also has plenty of storage options.

I realize you don't receive the well rested bonus but its not a deal breaker.

Also yes there is a chance for deathclaw to spawn nearby but as long as you kill them before heading inside they won't gain access.

Spent a lot of time doing side stuff and now I'm already a level 23 before even meeting House or touching the DLC - Is the game going to turn into a cakewalk if I'm overleveled?

Am I the only one who thinks that NCR heavy troopers are way harder to deal with than actual power armour?

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 05:13 AM PDT

Ok, so I just completed a Very Hard Hardcore run on the Legion side where I also destroyed the Brotherhood of Steel. Surprisingly, combat was never a big problem so long as I picked my battles well and kept a variety of weapons. Part of this was using pulse slugs and grenades against power armour which worked exceedingly well. However, all my fights against NCR heavy troopers were far harder, because while they had a lower DT, it was still hard to penetrate, and unlike power armour there was no special ammunition that made it particularly easier. So each fight with them was just unloading all of my ammunition into them while they try to punch me because their weapons had been destroyed. Does anyone have particular suggestions for dealing with them beyond just unloading into them? The same problem didn't quite apply to the Black Rangers because I was able to chip them off from a distance.

Joshua Graham The Beacon of Hope

    Posted: 07 Jun 2021 08:46 AM PDT

This whole post is gonna be me gushing over Graham Cracker so you have been warned

Joshua Graham is probably the most inspirational character in the Fallout Franchise he started as Caesars Legate but when he refused to kill Innocents he was covered in pitch and thrown into the Grand Canyon only to walk away and be known as "The Burned Man" a spooky ghost story but in actuality he was allying with the Dead Horses and other tribes in the region to live a peaceful life

There isn't a day he goes without being thankful that he's alive and not dead like the Legion wants him to be his Faith is strong with reason and he could probably convince someone to be Christian just by having a small conversation with them the fact he's managed to stay optimistic about everything after nearly dying is not only incredible but inspiring

You don't need to see his mouth or his face to know how he feels he only need say a few words and that's that no threats no overreacting just a simple sentence and that's all he respects others and there opinions along with there faiths and religion

He doesn't like to fight with guns or bludgeons but it instead with words and logic which is one of the many reasons I love Joshua and his personality but he sometimes is forced to resort to violence and killing as silly as it sounds he's right "We can't expect God to do all the work"

No matter how much people try to bring you down you can always ascend to a higher position than them and best there words there weapons and there hate for you as long as your willing to and have the courage to make a leap of faith

In conclusion Joshua Graham is not a simple character but instead a figure of inspiration faith and hope in the baron wastes of New Vegas and to some people like myself in the real world he is a saint in the eyes of many but most definitely a sinner in his own eyes he does not think of himself as better but as an equal which says something about him
