Fallout | What I want if they bring back fusion cores

What I want if they bring back fusion cores

    Posted: 20 May 2021 09:49 AM PDT

If they bring back fusion cores, I want them to expand on the idea of using fusion cores to power buildings. Make it so that if you pull out the core, the entire building goes dark, not that 2 lights on the generator flicker. Make it so that I can maybe use cores as puzzle elements, to power a bridge or open a gate. Remember the star core mission from Nuka World? Include a few things like that but with fusion cores instead, so that you have to install multiple cores to open things up.

I'd also like to use them in more things, maybe have a high tier energy weapon upgrade switch from fusion cells to fusion cores. Certain suits of PA need more fusion cores to function or fewer cores to function (along with upgrades to lessen the amount of cores certain suits need and maybe eliminate that need entirely). Make it so that I can make a really NASTY grenade out of a fusion core. Make it so generators require a fusion core to build. Basically, make it so that when I pick up a fusion core I don't want to think "Power armor fuel" I want to think about all of the good projects I could use this for.

The Power Armor in Fallout 4 is the best in the series.

    Posted: 20 May 2021 04:27 PM PDT

My main problem with the fallout series is how power armor doesn't feel like Power Armor it just feels like another set of combat armor with a different skin, it just weighs a ton, looks cool but it still forms to your body and doesn't really slow you down. In fallout 4 however, its big, it's clunky, every step shakes the earth and you feel like a walking titan of metal. The aspect of repairing certain parts was a nice touch because now individual pieces are affected by damage instead of the armor as a whole. I know some people had problems with the power cores mechanic but I loved it, it gave an incentive to power armor feeling like a machine that can't be used all the time. In addition the speaker sounding voice change was better than prior games because in other Fallouts it was just the same voice, but in 4 you had a radio to talk through because you probably wouldn't be able to hear someone in Power Armor without it. What did you guys think of power armor in 4 when you first played it?

    Super Mutant Misconception

    Posted: 20 May 2021 06:49 AM PDT

People seem to think super mutants like Marcus, Neil, and a few others and think are the norm, as they're intelligent, docile, etc. and then bash on 3, 4, and 76's super mutants for being quote unquote "orks". This is - false.

All the way back in Fallout 1, there were about 2 or 3 smart super mutants IIRC. Maybe a little more. But the majority of them were dumb. Harry, a literal commander, can be tricked into believing you, a perfectly looking human, is a ghoul. Super mutants are created by being in contact with FEV, the forced evolutionary virus. This virus is not perfect, in fact The Master had to tweak it and even then it was still imperfect. FEV reduces the intelligence of many humans, specifically irradiated humans. This was the whole reason The Master was in search of Vaults.

The super mutants we see in Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas are all remnants of The Master or the Enclave, and most are "docile" due to the NCR kicking out/killing any hostile super mutants. With the lack of The Master's guidance, they also lack a purpose. But even then, there still are hostile super mutants, such as the ones at Black Mountain or REPCONN testing site.

The point is, people always go "why did super mutants change" when they didn't. They're the same, but Bethesda's games take place on the east coast, opposite of the west coast. Due to this, the super mutants in Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76 lacked The Master, are full of one irradiated humans being dunked into FEV, and aren't lost without The Master or pushed back/killed by a force like the NCR in such a capacity.

Tl;DR, super mutants haven't changed. People saying such need to play the first 2 games. Thank you for coming to my ted talk.

I just wanted to rant about a few ideas regarding speech in the series, and have a bit of a discussion

    Posted: 21 May 2021 02:53 AM PDT

One of the main complaints I had about fo3 ( I haven't beaten it yet, but this seems true so far) I'd that you can speech check your way out of any problem in the game, and while pacifist runs are my favorite way to play rpgs, that feels a little wrong. I just wanted to talk about ways to fix this.

IDEA 1. Speech checks that don't work. This would be a situation where speech 100 have you 8 or so options that someone who was regularly known as a smooth talker would be able to think up, but not all of them would work. You would have to figure out what the npc would respond to positviely, and what would piss an npc off.

Option 2: intentionally failing speech checks. Say for example you're talking to the owner of a small house, and one of his kids was kidnapped and he thinks you did it. He could ask you a few questions about stealth and if you failed the speech check, you would be considered innocent.

Option 3: separating types of speech. After playing the outer worlds, which had three speech related skills(intimidate lie and persuade) I was thinking fallout could have even more, those three, manners seduction, and new Vegas style non speech related speech checks as well.

Option 4: a speech mini game. Similar to how lockpicking, hacking and shooting have player skills attached to them, but also requires your own personal effort/talent what if you picked an option for speech and has to construct a fill in the blank sentence. I know this is pretty similar to option one but I wanted to brink it up anyway. Sorry for the typos or any grammar mistakes, I'm typing this on my phone about to go to sleep. Let me know what you guys think about my ideas or if you have any ideas of your own.

Edit: I guess you could lie about the whole is your skill low enough thing now that I think about it

Fallout 5 should have cars like in Fallout 2

    Posted: 20 May 2021 09:46 PM PDT

You could use it for faster travel, (hopefully it isn't as bad as Skyrim Horses), have a trunk that lets you have a crafting station, storage for clothes/weapons/corpses, etc. Also customizing it to rep your faction or use it as a player home. Idk i had this idea after drinking a few radiated beers and some mentats.

Are there any signs of the post-nuke Fallout world evolving in terms of technology and infrastructure?

Forget the evil stuff, what moment in Fallout made you feel like a hero? Like, you were a beacon of hope in a dark wasteland?

I would love to see a fallout game after Mothership Zeta

    Posted: 20 May 2021 06:59 PM PDT

Think about it. Imagine creating a character, and you're in a exploring in a forest or something, and and in the distance, a huge ray of light hits the earth, and BOOM. A large amount of the map is FUCKED. Think the glowing sea, but a bit larger, and on a map the size of 76's. Towns wiped off the map, a large ruined area to explore, perhaps a large amount of questing to find out what happened? Maybe even going to the ship, and taking it for yourself!

Do left handed vault dwellers have to become right handed? Or is there any left handed pip-boys?

Fallout 4 did a good job with how grey area the BoS was compared to the other factions.

    Posted: 20 May 2021 06:01 PM PDT

I always felt like The Institute was "the big bad" as the game mads it seem, and the Minutemen & Railroad were the obvious good guys. Whereas the BoS makes you think if theh are the good or bad guys.

I'm surprised the Institute doesn't have roleplaying gaming groups.

    Posted: 20 May 2021 11:16 AM PDT

    I mean think about it.

A bunch of nerds trapped underground with a whole post-apocalyptic world above them, a world they have never seen nor will see, a world full of adventurers, raiders, dangers and radioactive monsters. All they know of the surface must come from their spy cameras or reports from Coursers, they must have witnessed all kinds of awesome fights and heard all incredible tales of the wasteland.

So in my headcanon many Institute scientists play Vaults and Deathclaws in their free time.

Father is of course a Game master, but not a very popular one. Most of the questions that other players make to him are answered with a "You wouldnt understand it"

    Barter bobblehead

    Posted: 20 May 2021 04:37 PM PDT

I was just wondering if there is any in-uni reason the Barter Bobblehead is holding a bottle cap, given that bottle caps didn't become currency until after the war.

    Replay-ability of Fallout Games

    Posted: 20 May 2021 04:58 PM PDT

Even though I already racked up over 400 hours on my PC Fallout 4 game, and somewhere north of 300 on Fallout 3 (not including my hours on Xbox 360 and Fallout New Vegas Xbox title), I still get the itch to open a new save and explore the wasteland even more...even after a whole year of not playing due to things such as University and Jobs. Do you guys ever feel the same with these games? The fact that you can go months or even a year or more without touching the titles and then having the urge to explore the wasteland again on a cool summer night? Can't wait to turn on Diamond City Radio and listen as I setup camp at the Red Rocket station with Dogmeat.

What if the next Fallout game had a non-human protagonist?

    Posted: 20 May 2021 05:32 PM PDT

All the fallout protagonists so far have been humans and I feel that really limits the types of stories we get to see in the series as the wasteland has so many interesting humanoid creatures who all have their own interesting stories and it really sucks having to see the stories of humans over and over again. I think it would be interesting if in the next fallout game we got to play as a ghoul, a super mutant, or a synth.

If you were a ghoul you'd have resistance to radiation and feral ghouls but more humans would be immediately hostile to you.

Playing as an intelligent super mutant might not work though as they might be too powerful and therefore make the game too easy. But I'm sure there could be a workaround Bethesda could do.

If you were a synth you could have gone rogue from the institute and deal with unique problems like requiring energy and maitenance.

I personally think the ghoul protagonist is the best option. The ghouls fascinate me because there the underdogs of the wasteland and I feel like there stories are worthy of being played. Tell me what you think.

[FALLOUT 3] How to Peacefully Deal With Paradise Falls (GOOD KARMA)

    Posted: 21 May 2021 04:03 AM PDT

TLDR: Trap the slavers in their own pens without their weapons.

    What you'll need:

    • Good Armor
    • Plenty of Stimpacks
    • A Strong Gun With Plenty of Bullets
    • 500 Caps

    Steps:

    1. Gain entry by paying your way in bribing Grouse
    2. Free Sammy, Squirrel and Penny any way you like as long as it doesn't anger the Slavers
    3. Pickpocket the key to the pens from Eulogy or Forty
    4. Proceed to use VATS to disarm every slaver by shooting their gun out of their hands one by one
    5. Free the slaves. They should be able to make it out but this could take a few tries, so save first
    6. Kite the remaining slavers into the slave pen
    7. Lock the pen using commands (Press ( ` ) and click on the pen door while it's closed, then type "lock" without the quotations)

All done! Using commands might turn some of you off this method, but since you have the key to the pens, it makes sense you should be able to lock them. The downside to this method is that it's impossible to get every slaver in the pens. Some of them stay in the buildings, but it was still immensely satisfying to pull off.

If you could propose a Vault for the next fallout gane, what Vault tec style experiment would you run?

    Posted: 20 May 2021 09:26 AM PDT

I would create a Vault that would take most of its inhabitants after the nuclear war. That way rather then having inhabitants that fear what the nuclear war could be like, you'll have people that survived the apocalypse spreading deeper horrors to future vault generations.

If fallout were to happen in real life would you be able to survive?

    Posted: 20 May 2021 07:30 PM PDT

Why do people seem to dislike the BoS so much???

    Posted: 20 May 2021 03:10 PM PDT

Why on earth do people hate the BoS so much?

I mean if you look at all the other factions (asides from the Enclave in it's prime) the BoS very clearly has the upper hand in not only military might (copious sets of power armour and vertibirds that almost no other factions have) they also have an advantage when it comes to long-range communications aswell, In Fo4 communication between the Capital Wasteland and the Prydwen seem fairly easy for the Brotherhood. Also another important factor is their sustainability, they are almost definitely one of the only factions that would 100% survive without the interference of the Sole Survivor as even if the events in the Commonwealth didn't play out for them well they could always fall back to the Capital Wastes where they (unlike most other factions except from the NCR) have a fairly organised governmental structure which is clearly what's needed to slowly haul America out of it's atomic ashes and properly restart civilisation.
