    New Vegas has one of my favourite main stories in any game

    Just finished the game a few minutes ago and had to put down my thoughts somewhere.

    To start with, the opening scene is excellent. I enjoyed Fallout 3 and 4 for what they were, but the idea of 'search for family member' just isn't that compelling to me, plus their introa drag for quite a bit. Compare that to NV, where some chessboard-looking asshole shoots you in the head, then 5 minutes later you're out exploring and ready to kick his ass. I was hooked from the start.

    Then when I found him, I was given numerous options. Naturally I chose to kill him, steal his gun, and wear his suit for the rest of the game. I was worried the story would fall off after Benny died, but then Yes Man tells me about other way I can use the Platinum Chip, and the wheels start turning in my head. Can I really take over the entire region for myself? Turns out I can.

    I take out all the Strip leaders and install new bosses that are loyal to me. I work with the NCR to level up, and they do seem like the naturally good option, but it turns out they kinda bullied their way into the area, so I'm sticking with the Independent plan. I don't even bother with the Legion, but I do intend to load a previous save just to see what they're like.

    Unfortunately, by helping NCR and also siding with Yes Man, I ended up alienating both factions, but I still need to under Legion's fort to use the Chip. Luckily, I have two of the coolest and most badass companions ever in Veronica and Rex. That, plus some Power Armour I may or may not have stolen from a Brotherhood Safehouse, and I baged in there, activated the Securitrons, and executed that fake ass Caesar for good measure.

    Fast forward to the Hoover Dam battle, and I'm chatting with the Commanders of each side. Legate Lanius looks and sounds like he was born in Hell itself. Even with 100 Speech, I felt like I still might not convince him to stand down. Then I speak to General Lee Oliver and it's one of the funniest conversations in the game. 'Oh you like that? You'll love what happens next!' I considered throwing him off the Dam but I just sent him packing instead.

    The thing I love most is how much freedom you have with the story. I felt as if I could deliberately screw up ad much as I wanted, but the game would still find a way to make it possible for me to reach the end.

    Lighting Indoors is too bright and there are no shadows. I don't have any Lighting mods installed and no matter which interior I enter, it's always too bright. However this issue is fixed only during the night for some reason but occurs during the day.

    A bug (?) I’ve yet to come across

    So it goes like this: I started a new play-through, sided with the Powder Gangers (I know, I suck but I've played the game 20 times and never tried it before), set Agility to 10, flew past some Deathclaws, and now I find myself on the Strip. I have Luck on 10 and naturally decided to double down on every hand of Blackjack to clear out some casinos. I'm at the Tops raking in the dough, I give Benny a wave and we act as if nothing has happened between us (bad with grudges). Eventually the Chairman interrupts the game to congratulate me and give me the key to the High Roller Suite. Not a moment after, I am on the receiving end of automatic 10mm hellfire rained upon me by Benny and his goons who are lined up on all sides. I was going far too long between saves, so I saved it right before death, and with no weapons was forced to take every drug in my inventory, and drag my high, bullet-riddled ass to the door. I regained my wits, opened the door, and saw them all standing in front of the counter. I hoofed it up the stairs, lobbed about 8 frags at them and picked off the remainders. God, I love this game but what is this bug, if it even is one?

    TL;DR: Benny got jealous of my massive Tops gains and slaughtered me. Not sure what the reason for this may be.

    Relationship between Melee Weapons and Melee Damage

    Trying to do my first playthrough with a melee build. I haven't "studied" the fallout system really and am curious to see if there's an optimal build that can be played. From what I have read so far I'm thinking:

    High Strength

    Int = 4 for Entomologist perk

    High Agility for more AP which means more VATS hits which is beneficial cause of double damage with melee weapons and unarmed in VATS

    High Luck - not sure why really but people seem to say its fun plus I expect I can get more money throughout the game. Also more critical hits I guess

    What I'm confused about is the relationship between melee damage and melee weapons skill. Melee damage seems to be a derived statistic from Strength and Luck. But does increasing melee weapons skill increase melee damage? What is the relationship for that?

    Is it worth pouring all the points into strength and melee weapons, or is there a point of diminishing returns?

    Title. Doing a new run, want to do something with melee since I haven't used it much, but I don't know if I should go with shotgun or blow everything. I generally want a balance of, can kill almost anything but still pretty fun.

    Blue Rock Canyon, help.

    I use a LOD mod and it caused some stuttering so I "attempted" to remove the mod and it's resources from my files.

    After I had done that the game wasn't stuttering anymore and I thought the problem was fixed until..

    From the Yangtze Memorial.. I could see the blue rocks in the distance.

    I know that it's a bug from LOD but it's seemed to linger and I do not know how to fix it without starting a new game and hoping it'll be fixed that way.

    Glitch with Oh My Papa quest?

    So, I'm trying to (diplomatically) get Papa Khan out of his position to put Regis as head so that he will support the NCR at the end of the game, but I think it's glitched. I've exhausted every speech tree with Regis, Papa and Karl, gotten Karl's journal, and still there's no new speech options. Can anyone help?
