Who in their right mind thought that light puzzle in far harbor was a good idea?!

I've never been more frustrated with a section of a video game in my life. It is my first time playing FO4 and this is definitely the worst part about the experience.

Fallout 3 new player : will i have a hard time getting caps?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:20 AM PDT

In New Vegas most of us are rich and set for life. ammo, weapons, armors...not a problem because of casinos, jury rigging and killing Gun runners guards, selling their stuff right there to Vendortron.

My question is: is it the same for Fallout 3? If you know any tricks, please let me know. Can't wait to try this game out.

    Automatrons are kinda mean.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:15 PM PDT

[Fallout 4 - Automatron DLC] - I'm just slightly obsessed with building robots. I don't have all the mods just yet but I found a design* that works great for me. Named Atomica, painted red, hell yeah. I waited a long time to take on Kellogg so that was one of the first big missions we did together. I had myself paranoid that Kellogg would be a super dirty fighter, as in having several backup guns and maybe a Fat Man kind of dirty. I suited up in my Hot Rod X-01 and prepared to set off for Fort Hagen, when Atomica says some shit. "Ready to play tin soldier, ma'am?" She asks. Her personality subroutines are still deactivated.

TL;DR - my robot said some mean shit so I shut her personality off.

*Design - Assaultron head, factory hardened armor. - Assaultron torso, front hydraulic frame, rear voltaic frame, regeneration field. - Sentry arms, factory arm armor, Protection automatic lasers, claw actuated frames. - Assaultron legs, mid hydraulic frame, left/right leg hydraulic frames. - Female processed voice (because I hate the sound of Ada's voice...). - Red paint.

SS with the Minutemen & BoS is the best hope for the commonwealth after Fallout 4.

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:53 PM PDT

I've seen some folks compared the BoS to damn Nazis because they don't like synths, deathclaws, mutants, ghouls, etc.🤦🏿‍♂️ If you're a civilian for the most part they leave you alone & don't mess with you unless you stand in their way...... Like the Railroad which is Fallout 4's version of hippies but instead of hugging trees they wanna hug synths which are threats to humanity not to mention we don't fully understand them.

All they wanna do is wipe out ferals, deathclaws, mutants, synths & raiders. Also to make sure dangerous tech is secured so it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. God forbid a group of raiders loot a Fatman & mininuke from some pre war government facility. Or if a mutant finds a mininuke & becomes a suicide bomber .

If I was a regular Citizen in the commonwealth & the BoS showed that'll be lit AF because I'll have to deal with less Mutants, Deathclaws, etc. hell I wouldn't mind sharing some food & supplies with them if they swung by my neck of the woods. Hell I'll even ask them to recruit me. 🤷🏿‍♂️

Perfect ending for the commonwealth is the railroad & institute gone. The minutemen & BoS working together with the settlements to create some kind of provisional government (like the one that was about to be set up before the institute sent their synth to wipe out the people.) with the minutemen being the local police force handling local stuff while the BoS secures the borders of this City State/Country while they look for tech. Maybe when the minutemen runs into a rough gunner encampment they can request a vertibird or two for assistance.

If the BoS can secure Saugus Ironworks & the remnants of the now destroyed institute they can rebuild it to a certain extent that'll benefit them & the commonwealth. Hopefully the scribes are able to salvage some stuff to improve power armors, etc. Or completely destroy the location & take what they can back to the airport for research if they don't like the area.

With mutants, ferals, deathclaws, synths, etc. now mostly under control & some form of government & nation is set up we can have better trade with different settlements in the nation & the nation with the BoS because now that I think about it I don't think the Boss will join this Nation because their goal is stretchs far beyond commonwealth. If they're being smart they along with the SS will have the commonwealth be a nation where they can recruit fresh people from. They're already overstretched as is & a long way from home. By this time water, food & supplies will hopefully be more abundant maybe the SS can convince Maxon to have the prydwen fly over the commonwealth notifying gunners, raiders & scavengers that all is forgiven & should rejoin this growing Nation on their loudspeakers & if not they will be wiped out & shot on site because if you still wanna raid shit on the outskirts of the nation instead of rejoining then at that point you want to cause unnecessary death & destruction for fun instead of looting to survive. 🤷🏿‍♂️

I imagine quite a few will take you up on your offer. Sometimes when you sneak up on raiders they sometimes be saying they're too old for this & they wanna stop, etc. They can use their raiding & scavenging skills to train the next generation of troops how to survive outside the nation.

With Paladin Danse being a synth instead of killing him outright I'll try to convince Maxon to turn him into an Arbiter of sorts(yes. Halo reference I know.) Send him on VERY high risk suicidal missions. A stray bullet, mine or trap will eventually get him. Also he'll have to be monitored at all times because we still don't know what synths are fully capable of doing. Especially one in power armor.

With reversed institute tech maybe the scribes can integrate AI into Power Armor to move & attack without anyone in them. Someone miles away in the prydwen is controlling it..... I doubt they'll immediately jump to that though. Maybe in desperation if they're in some war on the losing side.... Then again they have liberty prime.

Sierra Madre's Security System Doesn't Work

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 03:58 AM PDT

The Sierra Madre strips anyone of their possessions if it has traces of radiation, stated by Father Elijah. However, this is both extremely inconsistent and just doesn't make sense.

For starters, let's look at the inconsistent manners of such a system. Father Elijah manages to have him his robes, his weaponry, and more. Given radiation isn't exactly easy to avoid, and how often he ends up in perilous situations, and how he even claims to have not expected measures like that, he has everything from before entering. Then, Dog/God manages to get in and out of the Madre over and over, and comes out fine. Also you can find equipment not from the Sierra Madre security around the Villa.

Secondly, the system taking anything with "trace amounts of radiation" just doesn't make sense. The Courier could have 782 radiation and just has their equipment taken. It really seems like this flawed and inconsistent security system would tear you to the bone or just - not let you in. This can be said for Dog/God, Elijah, and Christine as well (as well as many other people prior).

I have no clue why Obsidian went with such an inane and inconsistent explanation for not having your gear. The easiest would have been the Sierra Madre security system takes away items of dangerous nature...you know...like a security system would do.

I console-resurrected an NPC without realizing that they had been decapitated...turns out, that doesn't matter!

Apparently NPCs will go on without a head if you console-resurrect them.

(Fallout 1) Were you supposed to do something to get the good ending for shady sands?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 09:06 PM PDT

I beat fallout 1 a few days ago, and I got the good ending for shady sands (they founded the NCR and stuff), however I never killed any khans or even interacted with tandi. Does she always get kidnapped and I just experienced a glitch, or is there something you had to do that made her get kidnapped?

Which settlements do the BoS take over in “Feeding the Troops”?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:30 PM PDT

I wanted to know because I know it restricts your ability to use the workshop and for roleplay reasons I wanted to build a little BoS bunker there beforehand

    Gen 2 synths are awesome

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:37 AM PDT

For starters, just look at Nick Valentine. Easily the best character in Fallout to date. Next to that you've got the fact that when you get down to it, they're still technically robots. They're practically immortal so long as they keep fixing themselves, they can modify their bodies (just look at DiMA), they could macgyver a laser rifle onto their arm if they had the knowhow!

My one question is what the hell powers them?

    No fast travel playthroughs?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 03:53 AM PDT

Has anyone on here ever tried a playthrough without fast travel? I defo have mixed feelings about it.

On the one hand moving through the desolate wastes builds alot of atmosphere for me, and as a roleplayer I really start to narrate what my character is thinking in my head whilst travelling.

Then again the worlds are built with the idea in mind you will be able to fast travel, so letting you go to 3+ locations for one quest isn't uncommon for big questlines, and this might kill me without fast travel.

This depends on the game, fallout 3 has alot less random locations than other games, and as a result less happens during normal travel, whereas when I travel in NV I can guarantee I'll stumble across something.

I think I'd prefer something like far cry 2, where you can fast travel between various bus stops, but not other locations, this also makes sense in the cannon of the world, and means you will both fast travel and normal travel when getting somewhere. Plus I'd love to see some crazy faction that controls the public transport of the wasteland.

What are your opinions on fast travel, have u ever tried a playthrough without it?

Fallout NV, is it ethical to warn the powder gangers at the facility the NCR is coming?

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 01:23 AM PDT

At the NCR correctional facility, which has been taken over by it's convicts known as powder gangers, the NCR plans to launch a big raid on the facility.

I have the option to warn the powder gangers, but is that ethical? Theres good people in the facility like an ex-sherrif who murdered a criminal, and Hannigan, a former NCR medic who started selling supplies on the black market. I'm sure the majority of the powder gangers are straight up evil though.

Was it ethical to warn them? Or should I have let NCR take it on their own (ik the NCR raid only triggers when you warn them but my character doesn't know that).

The Sole Survivors story is kind of sad

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 07:44 PM PDT

In the beginning of Fallout 4, the Sole Survivor is living happily when all in the perceived span of an hours the bombs drop, your spouse is murdered and your baby is kidnapped. I like codsworth so much because he's the only one who knows who you are and even after 210 years of living in a wasteland he's still loyal to you.

    flare gun and artillery bullshittery

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 11:50 PM PDT

Ok so what's the deal with the flare gun and artillery? Like a I shoot the flare a few times, and I get jack shit at one, 4 minutemen and a guard dog at the next, then 3 minutemen, and now 6 minutemen this time. How does the game calculate how many minutemen and dogs show up when you shoot the flare gun? Level? Location? Random? Is there a cool down? And how many artillery batteries do I need at each settlement, is there a cap on how many shells will be fired if I put 20 cannons in Sanctuary? Also, sometimes the damn things don't even shoot even thought I got confirmation over the radio that they were going to fire, I can hear the crescendo of a single projectile speeding towards the ground, but no boom. How come?

    So Airports, Fo4/76

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 09:37 PM PDT

So we all know the massive wrecks of airliners that litter the landscape both in Fo4 and Fo76, their massive. Huge! The planes are just extremely big. Then you go to the airports, and look at the runways. And not the small personal airports or military ones, the civilian ones, and their tiny. There is absolutely no way those massive airliners could land or take off of those tiny airstrips.

My idea for content on 76

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 01:46 AM PDT

Nothing too major but wouldn't it be cool if we can ride stags like horses like we would in Skyrim? With added customization kinda like red dead. It can fight if you want it to but have limited health and you can armor it up but if it'll never be a tank. You wouldn't be able to use it with power armor obviously and you could use it as an alternative to sprinting like when you're fighting scortchbeasts or death claws. You can have a mount at camp or even a stable. And maybe it's not just stags. Idk let me know what you think or share what elements you'd like to see in some shape or form along these lines. If you want of course

Fallout 4 freezing on xbox one pls help?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 05:10 AM PDT

So recently I've been having this issue with fallout 4 these past 2 days, in which i load my main save, and when i try to get out of my power armour, or kill the enemy courser (i am doing a railroad quest), it just freezes. My position is between a dock, a satellite dish area which supermutants and a makeshift graveyard with a bunch of bodies on top of a truck. I did try to disable the graphics mods i had, but it just makes it so i can shoot once and then it freezes. Big help please!
