Posted: 21 Apr 2021 09:33 PM PDT Far harbor expanded on the lore about synths, It tied in nick valentine, it gives us many endings that leave us questioning whether or not the right decision was made. Bethesda really showed its A-game with this one. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Apr 2021 09:45 AM PDT If so I will reload my save Update: I killed a NCR veteran without gaining infamy by pissing them off from a distance with an explosive anti-material round, allowing them to come to me, Then letting Boone and ed-e finish the job. Killed the one posted near the entrance of the house resort and the area I lured him to was the valley that is directly in front. I was standing on those giant pipes when I did it so maybe that's why the rest of the base didn't get pissed [link] [comments] |

How my dumb ass lost almost everything in Fallout 3 Posted: 21 Apr 2021 11:30 PM PDT Fallout 3: Point Lookout spoilers ahead This one deserves a nuclear face plant. So, I was playing through the Point Lookout main quests and got to the point where Desmond Lockheart asks the PC to infiltrate the tribals and find out more about them. Me being a very immersion-wanting, roleplaying player decided: "Hey, if I'm gonna infiltrate these tribals, I should try to disguise myself as one." This included the winterized T51b Power Armor from Operation: Anchorage, the Tesla Cannon from Broken Steel, the Discharger and some other nifty, mostly unique stuff. Most of you will probably be shaking their heads at my idiocy. But I went on my merry way, infiltrating the Cathedral and reporting back to Desmond until he sends me to the ferris wheel to install the signal jammer. I'm still like "Well, this is probably the last mission until I blow my cover and attack the tribals directly. So I guess I'll stay dressed as one of them and then get back to the mansion, put on my power armor, get my weapons and destroy them." I install the thingy, kill the tribals attacking me and then fast travel to the mansion, where.. BOOM! As my character lies there and the game is loading, the realization slowly sets in. As soon as able, I search the ruins while my disbelief grows stronger and stronger. The dresser with all of my stuff is gone. Big OOF. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Apr 2021 05:00 AM PDT DISCLAIMER YES I DID BUY CC CONTENT. No, you do not need to launch a crusade in the replies on how it is some great sin to buy anything CC. I just want to leave my opinions on the content I have so anyone looking to buy it can make an informed decision. I am going to be ranking out of 5 stars. CR74L: ⭐⭐⭐ The CR74L adds a new automatic rifle to the game, along with an in depth quest that will have you traveling across the Commonwealth. When you first find the gun, only basic mods are available. You have to find schematics to make the others. My main problem is that getting the upgrade schematics can be time consuming and boring. I mean, the SS has made so many reflex sights and recivers already, why is this gun any different? And is it really that hard to cut 2 triangles into a stock? You do get the gun very early on, and it makes an excellent starter gun for a commando build. And if your willing to fetch the schematics, it can be good into the late game. Manwell Rifle Set: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easily the best of what I got, the Maxwell set is really good. The guns themselves are beautiful, with a decent number of mods available to make them fit most playstyles. Their design really feels at home in the Fallout universe. My only problem is there is a slight floating hand issue on the gunsThe quest itself is pretty fun. You follow the story of a group of hunters trying to kill the Quantum Stag, a special Nuke-Quantum style radstag. You have to track the stag using its glowing blood and quest markers. The quest is also a great place to find Nuka-Quantum bottles, as there are 4-6 at one part. When you finally find the stag, you have to decide to kill it or not. They both reap their own benefits, so choose wisely, you only have one chance... (Unless you reload a save, of course.) Handmade Shotgun: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The handmade shotgun is a simple, and cheap, creation. Don't get it expecting a story, as there isn't one. However, it is good for the price of 200 credits. It adds a new really good looking pipe double barrel shotgun. One will be added to the players inventory when the creation is downloaded, and others can be found on raiders and from vendors. The weapon is leveled, and at higher levels, a triple barrel version will spawn. The gun is very easy to mod, like all the other pipe guns, and has a (to my knowledge) unique sound. It is a pretty good creation to get if you have some pocket change lying around, I only wish there was a bit of a quest, like maybe you had to craft it yourself. Hellfire Power Armor: ⭐⭐ The Hellfire Power Armor is based off of the original set. It is a really good looking, and very powerful set of armor. Other than that, there is not much to say, it is a suit of power armor. The way you aquire it though, sucks. You just roam out in the middle of nowhere and kill a random Forged named Pyro who is wearing the armor. And that's it. Not only is this really lame, it is also unbalanced. You can get it very early on, as pyro is not tough at all. And now you have pretty much the most powerful armor in the game before you even find Nick Valentine. I would up its rating by 2 if you actually had to complete the Saugus dungeon, so there is a bit of a challenge involved, and maybe add some lore on how they found it. Chinese Stealth Armor: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Chinese Stealth Armor is the perfect suit of armor for any stealth character. It can generate a Stealth Boy effect when crouching that persists even when moving. The armor is really gold looking, consisting of a black and grey skin tight suit with an orange full face visor. The suit is upgradeable with ballistic weave! You find the suit in a trunk in the South Boston Checkpoint. Be prepared for a scuffle with some Gunners to get it though! I do feel there is some untapped potential with how you find it though. Maybe you can fight an invisible ghoul in the glowing sea, or it is in a locker in the Chinese Sub (I can't remember it's name). It is a fun creation though, and I recommend it for a stealth build. Pip-Boy Skins (Cruiser, Grey Tortoise): ⭐⭐⭐⭐ When I got them, they were free, so I definitely reccomend you pick them up as I'm pretty sure they still are free. However, when they do go back to 50 credits, I reccomend you spend that on one of the faction skins. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Apr 2021 11:05 PM PDT I'm not exactly flying totally blind, although I mostly am: I've bothered to look up some of the details in character creation first, since pre Skyrim, that seems to play a massive part in making a solid play experience. But for story and worldbuilding, other than the memes and mostly surface level knowledge, this stuff is all pretty new Anyway, storytime: Starting up the story, I'm already loving the way that the Zeerust aesthetic is interwoven into the game. It's not only a unique combination, but one that also ties beautifully into the Cold War fears the US had of the end of the world. It is, as Bethesda themselves imply in the opening to the manual, essentially what a more cynical 50s America would see the future as. The birth of our hero begins with his, well, birth. Again, a very neat way to run a character creator that I don't see much of (though that likely has more to do with how I play more JRPGs than WRPGs, but this still doesn't strike me as a very common way to do it). Of course, since I'm white bread as all hell, I just put in my name and mildly tweaked one of the default Caucasian options to look more similar to me. Normally I like to use a different name for these characters, but it's my first run, and it's supposed to be our world and the US of A, and not a world of fantasy names or foreign names, so... Watching him grow up honestly touched me in a way that I haven't really felt touched by in games before. Aside from some more character creation (SPECIAL spread set to 4/6/6/6/9/5/4 to try and get as many juicy skill points as I can, and also because I'm a bit FOMO otherwise), we mostly spend our time just talking to people, and interacting with the environment, finally letting us do what the genre of the game advertised: Role Play. Since I'm still white bread basic, I play the part of a goodie two shoes. straight up the the point of ignoring the other party goer trying to punch me to death and casually conversing with others until the Cops show up (tbf, that's actually about how I rolled as a kid. I was not exactly Mr Macho). After chatting it up and feeling all warm and fuzzy inside (and getting the "who cares if it's a Dinosaur, do you know how long those things rules?!" Pipboy model), we get to go downstairs and get the REAL big birthday present: a 330 year old Limited Edition Red Rider BB Gun (at least that's my headcanon and I'm sticking to it). We learn to git gud, then we learn to git gudder when Radical Roach shows up and apparently dad considers it to be decidedly unradical until we kill it, earning our first mighty experience point, and a trophy photo Another six years pass, and now even my white bread "yessiree" ass is incapable of finding dialogue options with dadio that aren't full of disdain for the Capricorn. After striking a balance between white knighting and giving a friendly warning that "Bro, you know her Dad has a bigger god complex than Zeus, please don't do anything stupid", we go take the BAAAAAAAAnderdized Testing, only to find out it's basically a Buzzfeed personality quiz, with a few results thrown in to probably weed out troublemakers (why the fuck would I steal someone else's comic book? I know it's one of a kind, that's EXACTLY WHY it's a dick move to steal it). Anyway, apparently the game itself has had enough of my white Knighting Yee Yee ass, and decides to make me a Pastor (and I quote "God help us all"). After 3 years of Missionary, I guess, I wake up to learn that apparently the Overseer is an Angelican and does not take kindly to my Methodist upbringing of the youth... or maybe he's just pissy that dad left and now he wants me dead since he couldn't kill dad. Jerk. Amata, you can keep the gun, I'll stick with the Red Rider After packing up everything I own (which amounts to 50 BB rounds, my old Red Rider, a baseball cap/bat/glove, some spare clothes, and some random first aid gear), I TRY to sneak away to safety. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at that, and get spotted right away. Fortunately, these roaches are pretty radical and buy me some time to escape... until my Childhood bully shows up begging for help, because some of those roaches are much less radical and trying to eat his mom. Bro, I'm kinda busy, do you really think I... ...who am I kidding, of course I'm gonna try and save her. And then reload when I fail to save her the first time. As thanks, I receive a lovely jacket, and the respect of at least one member of the vault. Until we meet again, friend. For your sake, I was never here. For the most part, I just try to sneak past the guards, and run from them if they spot me: I promised I wouldn't make a mess of them if I didn't have to. Did punch some roaches lights out though, but seeing Mrs Palmer lying dead on the floor... Dammit. And more bad news, as I encounter more and more dead people. And 2 of them I watch her murdered by the very guards that were supposed to protect them. For a split second, in the dark, i though that was Amata they killed... ...someone else also murdered that day, but it wasn't the guards... enjoy the barbecue in Hell, fellas, I'll meet up with you in a few years. After taking the lives of 3 men, and being unable to save God knows how many more, I manage to make my way to the Overseer's control room. I had thought he was a decent man, but reading his files... I'm just disappointed in him. After listening to father's farewell, I finally manage to steel myself for the journey to come. I'll miss you, Vault 101. I'll miss you, Butch. I'll miss you, Amata. But for now, I need to go. To learn the truth. ...my God, it's... beautiful It might be desert and crag, and yet... it feels so... alive. So different from the sterile tunnels I grew up in. Grew a bit stronger from all of this. In the end, I may still just be Daddy's little boy, but maybe I'll be able to fend for myself out there a little better now... [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Apr 2021 06:08 PM PDT I just continued on with my character from last time I played. It was maybe 2017 or 2018. Coming from a base Xbox One to the Series X with FPS Boost enabled has totally pulled me back in again. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Apr 2021 05:08 PM PDT Today I woke up with a strange feeling: I wanted to start a new playthrough of New Vegas, even though that I said it bored me. Then I installed some mods, started a new game and surprisingly I'm really enjoying the experience. I'm pretty happy about it. [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Apr 2021 01:37 PM PDT One of the biggest complaints I have had with the game is just how rushed and insignificant the Legion is in the game. There's really not much to do with them unlike the NCR. And getting vilified by them isn't much of a concern either. You only lose like 5 side quests and get harassed by hit squads every now and then. It's not very punishing and you can just keep killing legionaries without much concern. Meanwhile if you kill NCR troopers you get harassed by ranger hit squads, and all the NCR troopers turn hostile against you. Boone and Cass won't be your companion, and you will lose all the important side quests across mojave outpost, camp mccarran, bitter springs, camp forlorn hope and etc. It would be nice if someone made a legion mod that added several legion locations in arizona and allowed you to get 10-20 more side quests by them. Bringing them closer to the NCR in terms of significance. Perhaps you can talk with a lot of the NPCs to get more lore and story about the Legion. There are quite a lot of DLC sized mods for new vegas. Like New California and The Frontier. It would be nice if someone bother to make a DLC of that sorts for Legion. But yeah this would be good in case if you were doing Anti-NCR run and you don't lose a big majority of quests in the game for getting vilified by them and make things a lot of boring for yourself. You could work for the Legion instead. [link] [comments] |
How would you change Fallout 3 Posted: 21 Apr 2021 05:08 PM PDT Heres the scenario: For whatever reasons you're given the ability and means to change anything you want about Fallout 3. Story, lore characters, mechanics, anything. What is something about Fallout 3 you've always wanted in the game. What are some things you think should have been done better, removed, added, or changed completely? How would you make Fallout 3 into your perfect Fallout Game? [link] [comments] |
What would the ending slides look like for Fallout 4 if they were more like the ones from 3 and NV? Do both of the companion perks in Fallout 4 stack, and affect Dogmeat? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 12:08 AM PDT I've noticed there are two companion perks. One for Dogmeat and one for "companion". I was wondering if anybody knew if the companion perk affects Dogmeat as well? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Apr 2021 01:38 AM PDT I was wondering when the fallout 4 dlc start I mean by this as do all the dlc start after the main quest line I know you can do them any time you want but canonically do they have no set time or do they happen after the main quest line. [link] [comments] |
Fallout 4 keeps crashing my PC. Posted: 22 Apr 2021 01:30 AM PDT Today Fallout 4 crashed within 3 minutes of starting, and it restarted my PC. I tried 3 times and it did that then I saw a post saying to turn off godrays so I did and it crashed again but this time I got BSoD instead of just a restart. The BSoD said nvlddmkm.sys which I googled is a Nvidia thing. How do I fix this? It only happens with FO4. [link] [comments] |
Condemnations (and a compliment) for Fallout 4's legendary loot system. Posted: 21 Apr 2021 05:17 AM PDT The Condemnations First, let's get the base complaining done. It is (in my experience) less enjoyable and rewarding as compared to a system with set unique weapons as was seen in previous games. The system of set unique items gave the sense of being rewarded for an accomplishment or scrounging around with sufficient diligence. The items themselves could also hold more meaning, such as the Survivalist's Rifle from Fallout New Vegas's Honest Hearts DLC. This weapon (in addition to being unique in both appearance and function) has a great amount of lore tied to it and its previous user. When you are using it, you can be reminded of the character who once wielded it, and the actions which he performed with it. It is largely a roleplaying benefit, but these are roleplaying games after all. Acquiring weapons in Fallout 4-in contrast-feels like getting a randomized drop in an mmo. The item and the character who you acquired it from are typically not unique in anyway, do not have any lore tied to them, and have no greater significance than the star next to their name and the little effect that the random number generator spat out. An overall less significant experience as a player. Next is the actual quality of the loot itself, which I will touch on briefly. The characteristics of set unique weapons in previous games were static, which meant that will you could not get something else that you may prefer more, you would also not get something other than what you want while acquiring them. The random statistics and bonuses assigned to legendary loot in Fallout 4 are often either so niche that you'll never use them, mediocre, or outright bad. You can occasionally find the exception of a piece of equipment with a powerful effect, but this will require an indeterminate period of killing legendary enemies with the hope that you will somehow manage to get both the piece of equipment you want, with the desired bonus effect. It-again-feels like grinding RNG loot in an MMO, which is ironic considering the title that would follow Fallout 4. And-before anyone deigns to mention it while pushing up their glasses-there are a handful of set legendary items in Fallout 4 (some of which are even good) but they are still often generic in appearance and have an utter lack of interest in their method of acquisition (with a handful of exceptions). Lastly is the response that these systems generates among players and how they affect interactions in the player community. In the older games' system, player discussions of unique gear would revolve around either the circumstances by which they acquired it (if they are of interest) or more commonly swapping stories and mutually gushing to one another about their weapon(s) of choice. With set weapons, players have a shared experience that can generate mutual discussion. These conversations can still occur over some of the set legendaries in Fallout 4, but such dialogues are in the minority. In the random legendary system of Fallout 4, it is-once again-similar to how people act about RNG loot in an MMO. Congratulations, now that I've made the comparison three times it will never get out of your head. Like in an MMO, player discussions of legendary equipment in Fallout 4 are either complaint posts sharing images of their 50th Exterminator's light leather left leg or bragging posts of people sharing images of some utterly overpowered abomination spawned by RNG. Speaking of which, it's time for me to move on to my compliment of the system. The Compliment One time a Bleeding Minigun dropped off of a legendary something or other. Thing shredded any & every enemy in a few seconds of burst since each bullet added a permanent 5 points of DOT to anything, regardless of whether or not it actually had blood in its body. Devs probably should have thought that one through better before allowing such a creation the chance to exist. It was fun though, closest thing to using instakill weapons on console before modding was integrated. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 21 Apr 2021 06:52 PM PDT I'm interested to see what everybody's opinions are on vehicles in the Fallout games, as in adding vehicles for the player character to use at will. I personally don't like the idea, I think it would take away some of the feeling of accomplishment of traversing further into the wastes, they'd probably put less care and effort into every little part of the map, and the maps aren't really big enough to need them. BUT, if they ever made a "New Vegas 2" or just any new fallout in the west, I think it would be absolutely awesome to add in horses. It would fit the western theme, it wouldn't make too big of a change to the gameplay, and we know it's an option because of Oblivion and Skyrim. Can you guys imagine getting a ghoulified horse, or a robot horse like a working Giddy-Up Buttercup, or some sort of super beefed up mutant horse infused with FEV?! I think that would be so amazing. Fallout New Vegas, broken perks? Posted: 21 Apr 2021 09:54 PM PDT I play NV on the Xbox one, the 360 version, with the four main dlcs. Here are the perks that I suspect aren't working, grunt and adamantium skeleton. Grunt increases certain weapons damage by 15%, one of the weapons it affects is called All American, when I got the perk I barely noticed any increase in damage while using All American. When I took the perk that reduced limb damage by 50%, I notice I still get the same damage from a bear leg trap from before I took the perk, without the perk I got 2/3 damage on one leg from a bear trap, with the perk I got the same amount of damage still. I also heard a dead money perk doesn't work, its called knight in shining armor maybe. Have anyone else been having the same problems? I don't have any mods installed by the way, will a bug fixing mod help fix these issues? [link] [comments] |
Fallout 4 Banner art over game info in steam library is a desert. Posted: 21 Apr 2021 05:51 PM PDT I have been interested in this as the location of FO4 has been Boston and nowhere near an area resembling a desert. Take note of the mountain range on both sides of the image, and how it wraps around the back of the city. So this somewhere far inland. Does anyone have a reason as to why this is or what this is an image of? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 21 Apr 2021 09:07 PM PDT Not much to say, I can only get one game and I'm split between 3 or Vegas. I have fo4 so I have played a fallout game and I know lots about both 3 and Vegas Edit: I'm going to play them on Xbox in case that matters (load times, crashes, etc) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Apr 2021 01:28 AM PDT I got Fallout 4 and I'm looking to install a few baseline mods before I play it. I already have F4SE, the unofficial patch, CBBE, and one that switches between keyboard and controller. Someone mentioned optimization mods for downtown Boston since it's a mess apparently. I'm confident in my PC, but apparently they're suggested anyway? So, what ones should I be finding and downloading? I want an experience that's as smooth as possible from the beginning.
