Dear Laser Musket, I Owe You An Apology Posted: 22 Apr 2021 09:08 AM PDT After a long hiatus, I fired up FO4 with the intent of doing a full Minutemen playthrough, really embracing my role as the General. I've done every other faction, but always considered the Minutemen a sidenote; I discovered that the Minutemen are exactly what you put into them, but I'm getting off-topic. Previously I considered the Laser Musket a gimmick weapon. You can get Righteous Authority minutes after leaving Vault 111, so why would I bother with a slow, clunky weapon when I've got Danse's personal laser rifle so early? But this time I grabbed the Laser Musket in Concord and only used it and my 10mm as a backup. It was a little rough at first, but it made me approach fights more slowly, sizing up the situation, using terrain, stealth, mines, etc. I found myself really having a blast (no pun intended.) From Concord, I may my way down to the Super Duper Mart and Lexington, as I wanted to grab some Minutemen clothing and extra muskets for my guards in Sanctuary. There's a parking garage right next to the Super Duper Mart with a small interior cell; it's literally a curved ramp leading down and around with a few ghouls. I discovered two things; one, it's really fast to clear that cell, and two, it spawns a legendary ghoul. (Sidenote: I found a new early game legendary farming spot for myself). That legendary ghoul dropped a rapid Laser Musket. I was hoping for an Instigating but I took it and moved on. That drop has been incredibly fun-now that I'm 40+levels higher on that character, with my rapid LM upgraded to a six-cranker, I use it for almost everything, and I've not been disappointed. Reloading it is ridiculously fast. Two observations made: ammo consumption is not that big a deal. It would take a comparable number of shots with a laser rifle (and some of those are going to miss) to down a given target; I've been much more careful with lining up my shots with a full charge in the chamber (so the LM has 'trained' me on trigger discipline and precision) with the result that I'm pretty certain that I'm actually using less ammunition per engagement than if I were using a laser rifle. Also, the Laser Musket is giving me immense amounts of burst damage that you simply don't get with laser weapons. You can grab Ol' Faithful from Arturo, but the musket would outdamage it. I'm glad I stuck with it and I'm almost glad I got the rapid prefix rather than instigating, because it's been one hell of a fun playthrough. Oh Laser Musket, if only I had known. [link] [comments] |
Was anyone else disappointed by Diamond City? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 01:39 PM PDT It gets hyped up a load, it even has its own radio station, I saw the buildings and I though "Oh that must be diamond city" I go there and it's just some small town in a stadium, did anyone else think that it should've been at least a portion of the actual city, with maybe what we got as a town centre with the stadium integrated into the greater city [link] [comments] |
I recently found my lost code for my personal PipBoy in C# Posted: 22 Apr 2021 11:42 PM PDT I didn't realize where I had put this repository, and I thought I had lost it during a reformat. However, I have found my C# library for creating a real-life (e.g. RaspberryPi) PipBoy. https://github.com/otac0n/PipBoy The game supports this via a mobile app, and I figured out the protocol myself. COSPLAY NOTE: It's probably better to just mount your phone and use their official mobile app, but if you really want to, you can create a custom PipBoy using this. [link] [comments] |
Did the mannequin in Kellogg’s secret room freak anyone else out Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:18 AM PDT |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 12:47 AM PDT I unintentionally got a few answers for this question in a previous post, and it was so fun to read them. Some people, like me, were introduced by chance, and others have fun, nostalgic stories :) How were you introduced to the Fallout series? Who/what introduced you? Do you have any fun/crazy/sweet stories about the first time you saw Fallout? [link] [comments] |
How does Deacon know i killed the Courser? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 10:47 PM PDT Hi guys, its my first time playing the game and one thing i dont understand is how he knows what i did. I dont remember seeing him before. [link] [comments] |
Every FO4 faction in ten words or less! Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:29 AM PDT This is just for fun, you can like whatever faction you want. Minute Men: Have fun spending hours of your playthrough building shacks! Railroad: You only joined for the Deliverer and ballistic weave. Brotherhood of Steel: You get to play soldier with some metal men. Institute: Robot gorrilas. [link] [comments] |
Anyone else never use power armor? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 11:37 AM PDT The only time I've used power armor is when they 'introduce'' it in fo4 when you meet Preston. I don't even recall whether it is in nv or fo3. Not flexing, just think it's strange that I've never needed it as a casual player playing on hardest mode (before survival). [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 01:58 AM PDT When they ask if you've ever had sexual relations with something considered non-human... Can you actually do that in the game and answer yes? It's been years since I played and I'm barely getting to the Kellog part now, since I play other games. So... Can you? [link] [comments] |
Has anyone else here picked up the fallout tabletop role playing game book? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 08:19 PM PDT The official table top game for fallout has finally been released. Anyone else pick it up? If so what are your thoughts? [link] [comments] |
Posted: 22 Apr 2021 11:52 PM PDT Was listening to some Caravan Palace a few minutes ago and this question randomly popped into my head, so I figured I'd ask here. [link] [comments] |
How did the Church of the Children of Atom come to be? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 11:32 PM PDT Through all my now years of playing the FO games and reading up on their history, I feel like the origin of the CoA was never truly explained. The earliest I know of them is that, shortly after the Great War, they helped clear the area around Megaton and build up walls around the soon-to-be town. But it seems like at that time they already were a religion/cult. But it's never truly explained, how their religion came to be, is it? Like, did some dude have an epiphany as he saw the bombs explode and got enough people along to follow him? Was it simply too much Jet? [link] [comments] |
Does anybody here have a Fallout display in their home? Posted: 22 Apr 2021 08:55 PM PDT I have a small shelf filled with my collector's edition items. Anyone have any cool Fallout pieces? Post pics in the comments. [link] [comments] |
I dont think 76 is all that bad Posted: 22 Apr 2021 12:00 PM PDT This might be bad to say butt ;) fallout 76 isn't all bad. Even at launch sure it was buggy as all hell but it was fun to play with friends. But now it is fun to play by yourself and with friends. But at the end of the day it is my opinion. Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:44 AM PDT I am on Xbox One and I do have on radiant marker quest mod downloaded but I guess it's not the right one because it always comes up as missing. [link] [comments] |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:33 AM PDT The menu that says Play, Options, Data Files, Tech Support & Exit is there But nothing happens when I click play [link] [comments] |
If you were the writer of a New Vegas movie, how would you have it end? Posted: 23 Apr 2021 04:24 AM PDT I just finished the game as the legion for the first time (previously having done NCR and Yes Man), and I enjoyed hearing the emergency radio and the showdown with General Oliver, though personally I would've had it done a lot more dramatically, if I was the writer of a NV movie I would've shown the NCR embassy get bombed and Camp McCarran getting attacked on screen and during the final showdown with Oliver, I wouldn't have him killed, instead he would be surrounded by the Courier, Launius and his Legionaries, then cut to the final scene showing terrified civilians at the strip looking as legion troops bring in the captured General Oliver along with Colonel Moore and their Ranger bodyguards, followed by a brutal Passion of the Christ style scene of General Oliver getting crucified along with his subordinates, made an example of in front of terrified onlookers. so if you were the writer, how would you writer one of the 4 endings, and what scene in particular would you have dramatized in a certain way not done in the game if there was ever a movie? I feel like I'm playing NV wrong. Posted: 22 Apr 2021 05:00 PM PDT I like NV a lot, and it's really charming. I want to savor it, but I feel like I'm playing too fast. After waking up, I went straight along the questline to find Benny cause I wanted to kill him, so I went straight to New Vegas. Now I'm roped in all this drama with taking down Mr. House with Yes Man and whatnot. I also want to join the NCR, so I figured I would try to by helping them out at Helios One, but I can't because there's a Mr. Gutsy there and I'm only level 8. I guess what I'm really asking here is how do I join the NCR more easily and take the game slower to savor it? Like I said, I want to make this experience last. [link] [comments] |
Do mods block achievements? FO4 Posted: 23 Apr 2021 02:59 AM PDT |
Posted: 23 Apr 2021 02:37 AM PDT Is it possible to get through the glowing sea with out power armour. and if so what is the best way to do it? [link] [comments] |
Fallout 4 - 3rd person sound bug Posted: 23 Apr 2021 02:24 AM PDT So I have this sound bug that only happens in 3rd person. It doesn't happen if I use power armour. The bug goes like this; When I walk/run (NOT sprinting) on wood, dirt, rubble and metal, the sounds are normal. But when I walk/run on asphalt, stone and other things like that, it's sounds like I'm walking on a metal surface. If I sprint on asphalt, stone and such, it's the normal thud-sound. And, no, it's not my weapons/inventory making these sounds. I've tried it with no weapons and with an empty inventory. I have tried with and without mods. It still happens. As I said, it only happens in 3rd person. Does anyone have the same problem, and if so, is there a fix? (Please don't tell me to use an audio mod) (Everything is normal in 1st person, but light and such bugs out in 1st person and makes the game unplayable) EDIT: [link] [comments] |
Caught this raider's dramatic exit. Posted: 22 Apr 2021 11:33 AM PDT Weird bit of a something caught on my most recent playthrough. Found it pretty funny and thought I'd share. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMxJTquwr5U&ab_channel=JuanTeebor [link] [comments] |
Answer Honestly, which do you prefer. Fast Travel or No fast travel. Posted: 22 Apr 2021 08:02 AM PDT For me personally its fast travel, while non fast travel is super nice for immersion and feels great too. [link] [comments] |
