Why does anyone wear leather armor in New Vegas?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 10:46 PM PDT

This is partly about the lack of protection offered by the armour; but mostly because.... it's fucking hot in the desert!

At a certain point; since it's really only effective up to a knive; wouldn't it be worth ditching it just so you don't get heat stroke?

Surely it can't be fun wearing leather in 100 degree weather?

How did Europe fare, and is Transatlantic travel possible?

I noticed Cait from FO4 describes emigrating from Ireland in some of her dialogue, but I can't find any more details about how she physically got to North America, and I couldn't gather much info on how the EU/British Isles faired in the Great War.

Why don't the BoS use different types of power armor in Fallout 4?

    How would the wasteland smell?

Are the Vault 111 jumpsuits in Fallout 76 meant to retcon the Vault 111 jumpsuit in Fallout 4?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 11:23 AM PDT

As seen here on the wiki, Fallout 76 features a sleeker unique looking Vault 111 jumpsuit that includes the gold trim and new design that looks like it would be designed for cryostasis. As Vault 111 doesn't appear in Appalachia (obviously), it can only be retrieved through the atomic shop and crafted at a workbench. What's weird though is that instead of just using the base jumpsuit from Fallout 4 that's in the very same game files in 76, they've made an entirely new design.

Is this what Vault 111's jumpsuit is supposed to look like now?

Does the NCR Army (or any army in general) use radios to contact their troops out on the field?

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 02:10 AM PDT

I know the camps use radios to contact another camp, but how do the soldiers contact their superiors when they're out of their bases? Do they use radios, walkie-talkies, or do they use runners?

Why Don't NCR Troops or Rangers Use Energy Weapons

Did the feinds control camp McCarren before the NCR

Why do they want it so much.

Just how big(population) are average wasteland settlements

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 07:34 PM PDT

Since the ingame settlements(family homesteads not included) are just shrunk down from their real size, just how many people are in a decent sized settlement?

For example Diamond City, is it a few dozen people to aleast a hundred.

How jet could be explained in fallout lore

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 10:22 PM PDT

I know people use the whole "Bethesda bad don't even know fallout" for "retcons" in the game, but I still think things can be worked around it. I believe that the jet in fallout 2 is different from the jet we see in other games, more potent if you will. I also believe that jet was pre war as well. If you don't know it by now, jet is just poop in an in-hailer. The idea of inhailing crap and getting a high off of it is not new, it's been around for a while. Just like smoking the weed and using medication that numbs pain to get a high. Now I know there is no in game or outward spoken proof (that I know of) that Myron just re used the idea, but it's kinda what i believe. Prewar America had some pretty good advancements in the medical technology and I don't doubt that someone said "dude, we should like stop using bags and bottles for inhaling crap to get a high let's freaking use your old inhailer" I mean come on, making that couldnt have been that hard. Hell, you the player can make a stimpak out of some roots and a flower. A medication that instantly heals you (or in some games over time) so I wouldn't put it past some junkies or stoned teens experimenting with drugs to re use a buddies old inhailer to make jet. And thus, like most new innovative use of drugs, it was wide spread, which is why we see it in a vault. The only expiation for it behind there is it had to have been pre war and wide spread enough for vault Tec to consider it being a major enough addiction. Now why do I also say that myrons jet is different? Well he uses Brahmin crap. We don't know what's in the jet for fallout 3 or NV, but in fallout 4, we can just use everyday normal fertilizer as a substitute for Myrons use of Brahmin crap. No option in the chemistry station to go over to a Brahmin, hold a bag up to its ass and wait. Just use fertilizer. Something I also want to add is fallout 76 does not have jet, this is because jet had not yet been reinvented by Myron. My thought is, is that when Myron made jet, obviously not one jet barn in California could supply all of post apocalyptic america so people made do with the doo doo and either used fertilizer, Brahmin crap still and or their own crap to make jet. So if Myron hadn't been born yet to spread a "new" drug across the country, then it wouldn't exist would it?

    Dirigibles and lighter-than-air travel.

    Posted: 27 Mar 2021 07:50 AM PDT

I'm not sure if this has been discussed before but something came to me last night.

Given the resource shortages which occurred pre-war, how prevalent were airships pre-war?

I was thinking obviously about the Prdwyn which as far as I know is the only lighter than air vehicle we see in game however the fact that it was made certainly indicates blueprints existing for pre-war vessels of a similar kind.

Airships are often mentioned as a potential cheaper means of air travel as they require less fuel than aeroplanes albeit with much slower travel times. So how possible is it that a resource starved US invested in dirigibles as a travel and transport system
