If you could design a Vault to be featured in the next Fallout game, what would you do?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 07:22 AM PST

Personally I'd love a Vault where the designers installed absolutely no light sources, with the intent to study the effects of absolute darkness on it's inhabitants. When you get there the Vault is filled with feral blind ghouls who rely on echolocation, so you can stand still and they won't be able to "see you". You'd need night vision goggles or your pip-boy light to navigate the hallways, and maybe you're reward for completing it is a suit of Vault-Tec security armor with a built-in night/thermal vision display.

Verticality is the element of Fallout 4 that I'm most impressed with and hope to see in future games.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 04:37 PM PST

I really love how they expanded the map of Fallout 4 vertically, and broke away from the habit of previous Fallout games of being largely flat. The skyscrapers in downtown Boston make for some of the most memorable fights in the series, and it's really stunning how you can start in one building, fight your way up to the roof, run along several bridges to another skyscraper, and then fight your way back down to the street.

A Fallout Game With A Rural Setting

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 10:46 PM PST

I personally do not enjoy 76 for the most part, but one of the few things I did like about it was it's setting. The map was really interesting to me. There always seems like there's an expectation that in modern mainline Fallout games, they are almost certainly going to be set in a major city, which to some extent makes sense, but with that being said I think it would be really interesting to see a game set in a more rural area. Had 76 been a normal fallout game they could have had Charleston and Morgantown been major areas, and used smaller towns and other various locations for side content. Had Morgan Town and Charleston been used for that purpose it wouldn't have been that difficult to make them to at least a believable scale. I know fallout 4 had rural areas surrounding Boston but the city felt so unlived in and much of it feels empty. Now I know it a post apocalyptic game and the city is destroyed so of course there is danger in these areas so why would people settle there, but I feel like these cities get shrunk down so much and there isn't much content in them. Fallout 3 suffers the same way imo, I liked the DC setting, but much of the city is destroyed and unaccessible. Now I know there were certainly engine limitations back then, and also lore wise the city was decimated. New Vegas does it best I think personally, but still due to limitations Vegas in game is pretty tiny, the strip only consis of a hand full of casinos. I'm not an expert on the lore surrounding pre-war Vegas in the fallout universe but it's certainly pretty small in comparison to the actual Las Vegas. I just feel like with the time and energy put into designing these major cities which are extremely difficult to make feel alive and close to scale of their real world counterparts it would be better served to set it in an area with a few smaller cities and flesh out the whole map and make the whole area much more alive. As a side note I think it'd be interesting to see an area that had made progress so long after the bombs fell, and it seems that in 2 of 3 fallout games thus far most areas around major cities have had very little luck progressing and rebuilding a society.

TLDR; For all the time and energy it takes to create a major city setting, it would be better served to have a few smaller cities and flesh out the whole map.

What feature would you want in the next fallout game?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 12:46 AM PST

I don't mean weapons, factions or similar. I want full blown features. Like the change in weapon modding added in Fallout 4.

Personally for me I have multiple ideas: First would be a co-op mode. Not the full blown "MMO" of 76 but a co-op mode you see in games like Borderlands. Also with a story adjusted to it. You could build up your own faction with your friends. The game would be harder with more people, but you will also find more and better loot. Maybe not limited to 4 people like in Borderlands but maybe more like 6 or so.

Then bring back multiple ammo types (like ap or hollow point). Don't make the"ammo type" dependent on the weapon mod like in Fallout 4.

Last I would like you to be capable of actually driving cars and flying vertibirds. That would be cool. Also able to get an acp or other stuff. Sure they are really expensive and also need a weight limit (for how much they can carry, and how much modifications weigh, and yes you should be able to mod them). Also they should be more towards the end game of the story.

I've played Oblivion, Skyrim, FO3, and FO4. Hands down, Far Harbor is my absolute favorite DLC produced by Bethesda, but because of that, I cannot appreciate Nuka-world. Nuka-world fans, sell me on the great things about the DLC.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 07:19 PM PST

Far Harbor is eerie, brutal, loaded with options and consequences, and beautiful. Fallout 4 is a great overall game, but I was enthralled when Far Harbor was added. Going to Nuka-world after the island just feels so... Silly?

What do you Nuka-world fans love about the DLC?

Fallout 1 is an absolute TREAT

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 06:54 PM PST

So, I actually got fallout 1, 2 and tactics in a bundle for like 3$ 3 months ago, and I tried fallout, and tbh I didnt really like it. I tried to rush through the story just to see the ending, and it cost me, I got stuck in Marriposa. I started a new game, and I am taking my time, I played 7 hours in 1 day (Im a no life yes) But I'm having more fun than fallout 76 lmao. I leveled up my sneak, lockpick, and steal a lot, so I just went around pickpocketing everyone in the hub, and now I have over 100 stimpacks because of it. Its really fun! So glad I gave it a second chance

Thinking for a new Fallout game

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:59 AM PST

Hello! I played Fallout 4 on my ps4 before and I liked it very much. I'm thinking of buying a new Fallout game (Fallout 76) but I wonder about the game's differences. Can someone who has played Fallout 76 explain to me what's coming after Fallout 4?

Can you re access Vault 87 in Fallout 3

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:39 AM PST

I've tried again and again I literally must be blind but I beat the story and I personally grabbed the G.E.C.K and kinda left Fawkes. And now I wanna go back and get him is there even a way to go back? When I try the terminal from Joseph it just says there's no power and there's no dialog option for it. And it seems the the entrance is blocked by rocks.

Fallout 5 should reintroduce skills, (if it massively reworks them)

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 02:46 AM PST

Hi Y'allTwo weeks ago I made a post titled "Fallout 5 Should NOT reintroduce skills." Since making that post my views have somewhat changed. Although I still believe that the skill system is flawed, I think that the return of the skill system could be great if it went through a significant rework. In this post, I will explain how I would rework the skill system.

    Thesis Statment:

The skill system has its strengths, but it is also very clunky and archaic. If the system is to return it should have heavy modifications to make it deeper, more streamlined, more transparent, and more tangible. Here are my suggestions on how the skill system can be worked to make it better than ever!

Problems with the current skill system:

    • Intelligence is overpowered. Intelligence gives you additional skill points so it is extremely beneficial to every single playstyle. Even if you intend to roleplay a dumb character picking low Intelligence is self-sabotage.
    • Skills are not transparent: The games don't tell you what exactly skills do, or exactly individual skill point affect them.
    • Skill points are intangible and unsatisfying: Skill points are such a small and gradual change that they don't feel satisfying to use.
    • Skills are often useless between intervals: Many skills only change between intervals of 25, increasing skills is useless and unsatisfying between these intervals.
    • Skills make special stats unimportant: Special stats can often feel useless because skills are much more important, for example, you can make a character with speech 100 but 1 Charisma.

    My Goals:

    • Streamline the skill system.
    • Make each skill point feel meaningful.
    • Explicitly state what exactly each skill point does.
    • Make special stats feel important.
    • Make something that will appeal to both new and old Fallout players.

    My Proposed Changes

    Special Stats:

    • Each special stat starts at 1 and has a maximum of 5, you have 15 special points to distribute to increase them.
    • Each special stat has derived statistics just like in previous fallouts.

    Skills:

    • Each special stat governs a number of skills.
    • Each skill starts at 0 and has a maximum of 5, your skill rank cannot be higher than your rank in its associated stat. For example: if you have 1 strength you cannot increase melee weapons above 1.
    • Each skill rank tells you exactly what it does. For example: Melee Weapons 1 - increase your damage and swing speed with melee weapons by 10%. Lockpick 2 - you can pick level 2 locks and your picks are more resistant to breaking.
    • In character creation, you get 3 skill points.
    • Just like in Fallout NV you will often be able to make skill checks in conversations and exploration.

    Leveling:

    • Every time you level up you get a skill point. You can use a skill point to increase a skills rank by 1.
    • Every second time you level up you get a perk point, you can use a perk point to gain a new perk or increase a Special stat by one point.
    • Certain perks require a certain in a specific skill. For example: Ninja requires 4 in Stealth.
    • Intelligence affects the amount of XP you receive like in Fallout 4.

    Companions in power armour

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 12:46 AM PST

Recently In fallout 4 figured out companions could go inside power armour and before I do it myself I just wanted to know if fusion cores ran out or armour breaks when a companion is in it and I know this will most likely get taken down but I I couldn't find answers anywhere else.

    Fallout 76 headaches

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 04:09 AM PST

As much as I like fallout 4 why is it gotta be soo poorly made?

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 03:55 AM PST

This is most prevalent in places like Boston but why should I haft to go around it everytime I play its stupid that they've never cared to go back and somewhat fix it, as far as I'm aware I think it was December of 2019 was when the last update dropped but it's crazy that a game sold for the original xbox one and one s wouldn't be able to function in certain parts.

A thought about future fallout games

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:14 AM PST

I think that any future fallout games will show expansive development from the existing major powers. In my personal canon it would probably be the ncr and capital wasteland area settlers/brotherhood of steel in that area.

My question is will the events of fallout 76 be adapted as well? Could we see mentions of a city in Appalachia? Potentially a new faction or even (although I'm reaching a little here) the enclave returning through them?

I just think that the world has been building through the timelines we've now played through and in fallout 4 there is a lot more mention of the ncr in the eastern region.

Fallout 76 leaves me concerned that we may see a whole region that is left ambiguous to preserve the Canon in one game out of a larger story.

Feel free to share your thoughts!

Questions about joining Raiders in Fallout 4 Nuka-World

    Posted: 15 Feb 2021 01:07 AM PST

I know there are many threads about this but I have to ask. If i dont join the raiders and just kill them all will it count as if I did Open Season or will they just respawn. If I join the raiders but do Open season before even talking to Preston will he still hate me or does he forgive the player, can I do Open season before i have to raid a settlement?

[Fo4] What do the stars on the flag mean.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 06:47 PM PST

The IRL American flag has 50 stars for each state and 13 stripes for the original colonies. I know the timelines diverged after WW2. Do we know why the American flags found in Fallout 4 have 13 stars, 1 larger star and 13 stripes. I doubt there are 14 states, is it a province based system?

[Serious] New Vegas how can I kill a giant radscorpion? Like these things are so tough, their DT is so high.

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 12:28 PM PST

Even in 3, like the Albino Radscorpion was 100X worse than a deathclaw because some Med-x, Buffout and Jingwei's shocksword could do the trick but there's no point in either game where I feel like taking them on is doable

Fallout 3 question. Who is the guy in the purifier you see when you type in the code at the end of the base game?

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 08:13 PM PST

So, I just beat Fallout 3's base game for the first time in a very long time & I'd expected to see Liam Neeson in the center part of the purifier, but I got some Prophet/jesus looking guy. Is that because I got the good ending? Who is that anyways?

    I Love the Fallout series!

Since I don't have a valentines this year, I figured I'd make this series mine. 😂

So, what's something you love about it? Please refrain from mudslinging; today is about love. Tomorrow can be that.

I'll start; The lore, hands down, is incredibly intricate and fantastic to delve into.

InXile Entertainment Should Develop Fallout 1 and 2 Remakes

    Posted: 14 Feb 2021 07:16 AM PST

Has anyone else realized that InXile Entertainment is perfect for developing Fallout 1 and 2 remakes?

1-InXile, like Bethesda, is owned by Microsoft. So the rights of the gamer are not an issue.

    2-They have developed Wasteland 2 and 3, very good post-nuclear RPG's with turn-based combat.

3-Like InXile, Obsidian Entertainment is owned by Microsoft. This means that Obsidian could loan them Tim Cain and Feargus Urquhart, two of the main developers of Fallout 1 and 2.

And for these 3 reasons I think that InXile Entertainment would be the perfect candidate to develop these remakes.
