| I feel that ghouls have been getting too "pretty" Posted: 21 Feb 2021 06:33 PM PST With each game, ghouls seem to get less and less monstrous. In early Fallout, they were practically zombies, and the two talking head ghouls we see (Set and Harold*) are both rather disgusting and asymmetrical. In Fallout 3, while you don't have that much asymmetry in the ghoul designs and the ghouls generally seem a little bit less zombie-ish, they still are missing massive chunks of skin, have patchy hair, and generally have corpselike eyes that are usually slightly bugged out. In 4, they just look burned, have hair, and are have bloodshot or black eyes. Not to mention the fact that 4's ferals look like lumpy thumbs. Personally, I'm perfectly fine with 3 + NV's version of ghouls, as they aren't handcrafted like the talking heads of the classics, but still look pretty gross. *I know that Harold isn't technically a ghoul, but he looks like one. | Posted: 22 Feb 2021 03:09 AM PST It works as worldbuilding in a suprising way. Most people have mixed views on ghouls, but the ones living in the underworld give a polite, sympathetic and positive image while also keeping the gritty side of things. Be it hearing the caring Carol talk about her childhood and witnessing her father get evaporated, being greeted to a suprisingly clean clinic with humor about its questionable sounding name by the nurse or freeing Charon from his previous contract, the underworld offers a different way of seeing ghouls, their form of hidden society and does it well. It is not a town ran by kids or build around a nuke, it is a hidy hole for those who rest of the wastelands spits at even though they have done nothing wrong, making it seem more "realistic" as far as fallout goes. I have Codworth with me and low charisma. I try to calm the situation but after I fail, I look for a "walk away" option, but the game just lets me kill one of them. no matter what, Codsworth disapproved. I feel like the minuteman and the railroad have the best worldview and I know for sure that the railroad ending involves destroying both the Brotherhood and the Institute. Posted: 21 Feb 2021 12:16 PM PST Earlier Fallouts displayed HP numbers as part of the awareness perk, which FO4 has too, but they removed it from the perk. Which leads me to think they were embarassed about the HP numbers? Enemies are sometimes bullet sponges and sometimes they die real fast. And I have no idea how much the armor numbers actually mean without any additional context, makign the awareness perks a lot less useful. The graphic HP bar is useless for this. I know I can do console getav health, but that is too clunky in combat. Much better if it displayed as it should, next to level/armor/resistance in VATS. I couldn't find such a thing, bu surely I can't be the first to want it? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 22 Feb 2021 01:50 AM PST It Fallout 3 your character's gender is not a Canon you can either play Fallout 3 as a boy or girl and you would never know which gender is the Canon what same thing goes with Fallout 2 Fallout 4 and fall out New Vegas. Except for Fallout 1. And Fallout 1 the candy gender is a male so if you were to play Fallout 1 as a female and that's not canon because it Fallout 2 in the NCR capital there is a statue of the vault dweller the male vault dweller. | How to turn FO3 or New Vegas into a funner shooter experience Posted: 21 Feb 2021 04:00 PM PST Okay, so I tried this out and I found it pretty fun and more challenging than just vanilla, first person with hud and cross hairs or ironsights. What I did is I turned the HUD opacity all the way down, and then I go third person and zoomed in pretty close like an over-the-shoulder RE2 or RE4 perspective and I put on my trusty chinese stealth armor and try to shoot my gun like that, haha it looks like a totally different game almost xD ive only done this on FO3 and I had lots of fun [link] [comments] |
