Fallout 5 needs an option to build your own faction from the ground up.

Its really just an idea. Possibly too difficult to work into fallout lore. Completely changing the outcome of the game on a more detailed level. Maybe you decide who you recruit, some interesting new or Possibly already established in the fallout world NPC's. Also settlement building would feel more important as building a base of operations to accommodate your factions needs and endgame. Would feel moree critical to the playthrough.

Tf is up with settlers stealing your power armor when you leave it in a settlement?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 03:58 PM PST

I'm running back thru Lexington towards red rocket truck stop, and I see a few deathclaws attacking the settlement. Naturally I hang back and see how my defenses handle it without me, machine guns tearing into them, puny settlers getting swiped into the air left and right, its quite an amusing sight and im thoroughly enjoying it, just about to run in and finish off the DCs, when I see someone in a full suit of minutemen power armor come barreling out of the truck stop. I think "wait a tic... isn't that my power armor!??" So I run up to the bitch to ask her what the fuck she thinks she's doing and to step out of the power armor immediately, but she just keeps saying "thanks for your help pal!" And calling the death claws "raiders" for some reason, which I guess they were... technically... but not the raiders she means. Anyway I'm pretty jacked on caffeine rn so long story short... how and why did this loser think she could just step into my power armor, and how do I get her to take it off? Also... what the hell lady?

Why people act like "It's bad when Bethesda does it"?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 01:47 AM PST

TL;DR: Even Obsidian and Bethesda doesn't fight over "muh real fallout", why some fans even care?

Seriously. I was checking NMA and saw a thread named as "Things we learned from Fallout 4" and people be like: "So ghouls can survive 200 years in a fridge without food and water!"

So... it is a double reference. First to Indiana Jones, second to Fallout 2. Fallout 2 had Coffin Billie, a joke quest. The ghoul was in grave and survived for long because it was a joke. Probably a reference too, but Fallout 2 references can be too strange that you can't find what they are referring to.

When Interplay or Obsidian does, it is a good reference or a great joke. When Bethesda does, it's suddenly bad. Are some people for real? Or they be like "have sex with everyone" so? Like? You can be a pornstar in Fallout 2? And people consider it as a great example of role playing.

"Oh so female protagonist in FO4 can wear power armour without training???" Well in Fallout 1 and 2 there was no Power Armour training too. What's the problem now? Suddenly being loyal to original classics is a bad thing because it's Bethesda?

"after 200 years of a nuclear war there are purebred dogs exist" so? Fallout 1 and 2 had normal dogs. New vegas also has dogs. Because most dogs are not mutated by radiation. But it's another "it's bad if Bethesda does it" case I guess.

Seriously, what is wrong with people? "It is good until Bethesda does it" is a very shit attitude, and the reason why many people don't want to touch original classics and New Vegas. Like... Be normal, be fair and don't be a fucking douchebag.

I know there are many posts about this issue. But damn some people are so cringy that they believe they are top level because they dislike Bethesda.

It's interesting because Bethesda and Obsidian had no beef other than usual business competition. Seriously. Sawyer praised Bethesda for making Fallout 3 an FPS action RPG. "There are many posibilities" he said. Obsidian team praised Bethesda's game engine, because it allowed them to create deep and complex relationships, storylines and dialogues with ease. Both Todd Howard and Sawyer praised each other's Fallout.

You know what's funny? It was Chris Avellone who fucked up Fallout lore, because he wanted it to fit for his taste. Not just Fallout Bible, but also Lonesome Road DLC. He made Ulysses his own voice, and criticized both players and Obsidian. When Ulysses says "you were in Reno, Hub, all over California" he doesn't mean the Courier, but he means the player. Chris really got his feelings hurt when Legion wasn't just bad guys, but an evil faction with complexity. He never wanted Legion to be a joinable faction. The Ulysses supposed to nuke both NCR and Legion if Sawyer didn't step in and stopped Avellone. a huge lol. But I guess elitist fanboys don't know it.

If Obsidian wasn't impressed with Fallout 3, they wouldn't focus on Action elements in New Vegas. They improved what Fallout 3 started, accepted it's lore and references, and came back with some small references themselves. Like, Fallout 3 started a Robco-General Atomics partnership. New Vegas improved it with a prototype Mr. Handy model inspired by Robco. Then Fallout 4 accepted it, and improved the partnership in lore wise. There were no problem with Obsidian and Bethesda besides competition. They respect each other's work. After all, they are professionals. They know how to separate business and art from each other. Be like them, don't be cringy fanboys.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas's difficulty makes them great games.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 06:26 AM PST

My first fallout was fallout 4, and I put in a ton of time into it- it was super fun to me, and it is only just recently that I have ventured into the older fallouts, and I realized how much I was missing out on

After putting 70 hours in fallout 3, I started new Vegas a few days ago after fallout 3 stopped working for me and it's the most fun I've had with a game for a while. There were noticeable differences that really contributed to my enjoyment of new vegas and fallout 3 - those being the heightened difficulty, even on normal. Guns had condition, and jam often. Ammo is scarce. Condition repairs are expensive early game. Instead of blasting away, I found myself using my brain to defeat enemies who were stronger then me.

Unlike fallout 4, generally useful items are way more scarce. In my new vegas game, I'm totally out of stimpacks- they are rare and too expensive to buy from traders. All my guns are very low condition. I've found myself carefully leading enemies to locations where they can be defeated easier And its really fun! I found myself wishing that the newer fallouts was more difficult. I hope that in the next singleplayer fallout game they bring back the difficulty of the older games.

The main reason I like Fallout is getting revenge on assholes that deserve it

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 04:13 AM PST

This realisation came to me when, after a hard week, I started thinking about re-installing Fallout 3. I thought the main reason I like Fallout games is the exploration, black humor, role playing, combat, power armour, vertibirds and choice and consequence. All that stuff is good but the real emotional buzz I get is it's a world full of assholes and unlike in the real world, in Fallout I can give them their just deserts. That vendor who gives me grief for being poor, I'll steal their stuff. Those vault dwellers who kicked me out into the wasteland but now want my help, they can starve to death for all I care. Corrupt officials, I'll just expose their dirty secrets and get them demoted to janitor.

And as much as I love Fallout 4, this is the thing that's missing for me. There just aren't enough assholes to take revenge on. Yes there are plenty of people who'll just straight up attack you because it's a wasteland out there. But it's sorely lacking in assholes resembling those I encounter in the real world who I can delight in revenging. That's what I hope they add back into the next Fallout. Until then, Hitman games and Dishonoured will be my revenge simulators of choice.

how would you feel about many large hubs, instead of one massive wasteland for future Fallout games

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 11:35 PM PST

How would you feel if Fallout operated ever so slightly like a mix of old school Fallout and the modern ones, where instead of one massive wasteland we have multiple slightly smaller sandboxes maybe like the size of a DLC and we have to travel between them, I have pictured how a fallout game set in multiple locals could work and this is one. maybe the first area could be about finding a car or some other mode of transport to travel to other areas.

I started thinking about this because I wondered how a sequel set in California could function, then I started to think about 3d remakes, then I started thinking about a Game set all over America about multiple factions clashing and I wanted to see what people thought about it

EDIT: I just realized that I just described Outer Worlds in Fallout, but for the record, it needn't be executed the same way

Microsoft is establishing a new studio called "Vault" says the document

Turns out microsoft is going to establish a new studio called Vault and the first thing that came to my mind was Fallout.

Could it be that they are gathering a new Fallout team? (from Bethesda, Inxile and Obsidian?)

    Worst gun in Fallout 4

Super mutants definitely raided my workshop.

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 03:39 AM PST

Just dropped in to stop an attack at Longfellow's Cabin and yikes.. I guess I was late because almost all defenses were down when I arrived and it was one of those raids where it's just like 10 SM warlords against my 1 Longfellow. Anyway towards the end of battle a mutant is charging me with MY Atom's Judgement. I always heard settlers can take weapons from the workshop but not enemies!

Why do vault jumpsuits from fallout 3 and New Vegas have a belt?

    Posted: 11 Feb 2021 03:29 AM PST

If it's all one piece why the belt? For an engineering job sure I could see it but a teacher or a fry cook? Could it be that it was actually 2 pieces combined at the waist?

Won't most people in the fallout universe have hearing problems

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 11:13 AM PST

I was thinking about this a few weeks back considering alot of the people are around a bunch if constant gun fire and what is a mini nuke or a missed blows up next to you, surely that would cause some type of hearing loss unless everyone adapt to the gunshots and explosions

Is Fallout 4 worth playing if I didn’t like fallout 3?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 11:42 PM PST

Basically the title. I own the game already but it's definitely not on the list of games I want to play as soon as possible. I enjoyed Skyrim and Oblivion if the 2 franchises can even be compared. Fallout 3 felt kind of slow to me in my opinion. The missions felt tedious and the wasteland exploring wasn't really that enjoyable to me. The characters to me were boring honestly. Is fallout 4 better? Worse? About the same?

A funny fo4 glitch just happened to me

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 03:12 PM PST

    Fo4 glitch?

On my My latest BOS playthrough I got a vertiberd to fly into sanctuary so I could go to the prydwin the cool way B) but literally everyone in the settlement starting shooting st it? Even all my robots and turrets, and when u flew above different settlements like red rocket and the starlight drive in, I hear my settlers still shooting at it? It didn't explode but I'm still so confused why it happened, a gunner attack just ended so maybe that had something to do with it?

I redesigned the symbol for the Followers of the Apocalypse, so that it's no longer a religious symbol, and is more fitting for the group.

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 09:11 PM PST

The Followers of the Apocalypse are probably my favorite faction from Fallout. They only want to help the people of the wasteland, seek no profit, and seek no power. They are altruistic, humanistic anarcho-pacifists.

But their symbol of the Christian cross/crucifix makes no sense to me, and I know I'm not the only one. Many people mistake them for a Christian or religious group, due entirely to their symbol, despite the fact that Nicole in FO1 clearly states that they follow principles, not a religion.

I propose, and have designed, an alternate symbol for the Followers which only slightly alters the aesthetics of the design itself, but greatly alters the real-world meaning of the symbol, and underscores their principles in a much more clear way. I propose the 'Peace Symbol' as the sign of the Followers.

You may think the Peace Symbol is some outdated hippy-dippy fad that doesn't fit in the world of Fallout. But I would say that it fits perfectly. The origin of the 'Peace Symbol' is a representation of the letters N and D, for Nuclear Disarmament. Since then, the symbol has taken on the greater meaning of 'Peace' itself. Both of these meanings are applicable to the Followers, since their number one goal is to educate the people of the wasteland so as to prevent another nuclear war. I also added a white-and-black flag to show them as anarcho-pacifists.

A description of the early origins of the Peace Symbol, which sums up why it's the perfect symbol for the Followers:

In fact, the first official series of badges made by Eric Austin of the Kensington CND branch were made of white clay with the symbol formed from black paint. According to CND, these were in themselves a symbolic gesture as they were distributed "with a note explaining that in the event of a nuclear war, these fired pottery badges would be among the few human artifacts to survive the nuclear inferno."

I would have made a media post, but can't do that here, so I'll link to a post which shows my redesign:

(NV) Need a mod that makes AR's and automatic weps in general good (or just adds a good automatic weapon/weapons)

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 11:22 PM PST

AR's in NV either look like shit or they are shit. In comparison to something like a shotgun or a sniper AR's are by far the weakest. It literally takes a fucking eternity to kill a deathclaw with an AR. All they're good for is wasting ammo.

But no matter how shit they are, I really enjoy automatic weapons in games in general. So I really want to go for a full-auto playthrough of NV. I have tried some of Millenia's automatic rifle mods (ak and M4) but even with the weapon mods AR's feel so underwhelming.

If knows of a good AR mod, please tell me.

Is the Courier a human being anymore?

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:01 AM PST

Are you still a human being if your brain is replaced with a cybernetic one?

EDIT: Thank you u/Casimir0325 for correcting me: "They don't have a cybernetic one though. Their brain was replaced with tech that can allow them to maintain communication with the original brain. It's effectively the difference between a controller connecting to a device via a wire or a wireless connection."

EDIT 2: Thank you u/ferretleader for pointing out that the Courier gets their brain removed at the start of Old World Blues.
